The man stayed by his wife's side, still trying to talk to her after all this time. It was all he could do. Of course, sometimes he tried to talk to Gabe as well. He had been so kind. Growing frustrated, he made his way over to the other apartment, just trying to find someone to talk to.
Alex bit his lip a little as he felt the ghost draw nearer, and he slid down in the chair a little further, reading.

The host of the man made his way into the bed room, trying so hard to wake Gabe up, to talk to him. When this was fruitless, he turned his sights to Alex.
Alex took a deep breath, trying to read. Trying to ignore the ghost's presence. But his hands were shaking.

Hello? The man said, moving to catch Alex's eye, can you see me? Please, answer!
Alex flinched, breathing starting to speed up a little bit. Please. He thought. Don't.

The man saw Alex flinch, and grabbed on to that as a sign he do would.

The last part came out as a haunting moan, and the man was desperate to get Alex to acknowledge him.
Alex whined softly, starting to shake again. Please please please don't. Please. He was trembling so hard.

The man grabbed as best he could at she'd shoulders, screaming.
Answer me!!
Alex let out a cry, flinching away. "Please don't!" He exclaimed in a broken whisper, the book falling unnoticed to the floor as he began to shake.

You can see me! The man screamed again, getting even closer to Alex.
Why are you the only one?! Why can't my wife see me?!
Gabe woke up when he heard the book fall, a light sleeper even now.
"Alex?" He said softly, rubbing his eyes and looking out. He froze when he saw how Alex was acting. He slowly made his way out of the room to the other, wanting to help him.
Alex was shaking hard, flinching away from the ghost. "Stop!" He begged the ghost. "Please!"

Gabe himself stopped, then continued to the chair. He stood in front of Alex, mostly blocking the ghost from him for a moment.
"Alex, what are your asking to stop?" He said, voice low and calming.
Alex shook his head quickly, breath coming in short, fast gasps. "N-no, I…I…"

"Alex, please. You can trust me. It'll help to tell me," Gabe urged. The ghost appeared over Gabe's shoulder, glaring at Alex.
Alex whimpered when he saw the ghost again, flinching and curling deeper into the seat.

Gabe looked around, careful to position himself where he had seen Alex staring.
"Alex, I want you to close your eyes, okay?"
Alex nodded a little bit and complied, closing his eyes tight, shaking, soft whimpers leaving his mouth.

"I want you to just focus on my voice, okay?" Gabe said softly. "Just focus on me."
He nodded, trying to calm down, trying not to remember the ghosts in the asylum that screamed and screamed and screamed.

"Can you tell me what you saw?" He asked gently. His voice was smooth and gentle, calming in more way than one. He obviously had done this before.
He let out a soft whine, shaking his head a little bit, trembling all over.

"Okay then," Gabe continued. "Can you tell me exactly what it's making you feel?" He tried again.
"I-I…" he shook his head again, unable to put into words what he was feeling, what this was doing to him.

"Okay, okay," Gabe said softly. "Don't try to force yourself. Just say the first word that comes to mind."
"Memories…the…" he shook his head again, a quiet sob tearing from his throat.

"I see," Gabe said quietly. From what he knew, he figured Alex was getting flashbacks from Bedlam.
"It's okay, Alex, you don't have to force yourself to talk." Gabe slowly knelt down, speaking softly.
Alex wrapped his arms tightly around himself, shaking with the knowledge of the nearby ghost.

"Just focus on me," Gabe instructed again. "Just you and me, Alex."
You and me and the ghost. He thought, halfcrazed, shaking and shuddering and trying to calm down.
