(Lmaoo its all good, I don’t know too much either)

Vaughn looked back down at his hands once she has stepped away. His mind flashed back to how he had been let into the house. The wife and the child were dead when he had gotten there. His heart had ached in such a painful way at the sight, one that had caused another further flashback. But he thought of his his hands had been on the larger man’s throat, strangling him. But the man was stronger than him, just abaout throwing him acorss the room with one shove. That was how he got those injuries to his face- when he crashed into a coffee table in the living room. He snapped out of it when the bartender came back. Once again, he didn’t let his eyes wander her figure. “Thank you. That’ll be all,” he responded, picking up the glass.

AJ nodded but didn't walk away from him yet. Her eyes took in his appearance. First what he wore, a suit. It wouldn't have been odd if it hadn't been for the bruise she could clearly see forming on his cheek. She knew it would probably be better to comment on it, to walk away from the sex god in front of her, but this time, she didn't listen to her head. She listened to her gut and her gut told her she needed to say something. Her teeth released her bottom lip, a habit she seemed to do every time she got lost in thought. "Are you alright sir?" She inquired, tilting her head slightly to the side as she took in his bruising cheek once more.

Vaughn wondered why the bartender stook around, just staring him over. It made him shift as he looked away, taking a quick sip from his glass. When he looked back at her, there was a shadowy, menacing figure behind her. Of course, it wasn’t real. Just a figment of his imagination. But that didn’t matter. It still made him tense. Made his lips part as if he was thinking about warning her. But he bit his tongue. It wasn’t real. The figure was completely black, save for a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and long clawed hands. He blinked a few time, registering her question before realizing she must mean his face. “I’m alright. Had a kickboxing spar today,” he responded smoothly. He found himself to be a very good lier.

AJ frowned as she noticed his shoulders tense. Had she said something wrong? She didn't want to offend him, she was just generally concerned for him. She'd seen her fair share men come in with a busted lip and knuckles, and sporting a bruise on their face. She'd also seen her fair share of fights in the bar, had attempted to break up a few and learned the hear way to let someone else do that. She glanced down the bar at her other customers and was relieved to see the other bartender, Adam taking care of them. AJ blinked in surprise at his response. She hadn't heard that one before. She leaned her elbows on the bar. "Kickboxing? What got you into such a violent sport?" She asked curiously. "You should also ice that cheek soon."

Vaughn didn’t like all the questions. It made him uncomfortable, made the whisoers stir. The figure gave a devilish, fanged grin. What now, Finley? it hissed, thought it’s mouth didn’t move. Can’t handle it? You’re going to get caught in a lie sooner or later. What about the blood? If she saw that, things might get suspicious. Can’t have you getting us killed because of a pretty woman it continued, it’s shadowy fingers appearing to him like they were stroking through her hair. “It’s a good way to relieve stress. Thought it would be interesting,” he said in response, taking a longer drink this time.

(That's creepy af)

AJ hummed to herself. She supposed kicking things or people could relieve stress, get your anger out, but she didn't particularly like violence and the damage it did. Life would be so much easier if everyone could discuss disagreements peacefully. But unfortunately, not everyone was like that. She drummed her nails on the bar leaning in a bit closer. "And have you? Found it interesting I mean?" She asked him. "What's it like?"

(Yeah, it’s a pretty creepy disease)

Vaughn continued to watch the figure that was leaning just over her shoulder. It was hard to ignore it’s whispers, but he knew he had to. He looked back at her face, now. “It’s been alright so far. Good for the stress thing, I suppose. It’s enjoyable for me.” Ah, I knew you loved it. The thrill of the kill. Like father like son right? the figure snickered. He clenched a fist under the bar and quickly downed most of his drink.

AJ nodded. "Even the getting hit the face part?" She made a poor attempt at a joke. She would never be known for good jokes, just her awful science puns. She tried cracking a smile as if that would make it better. She cleared her throat. "Would you a bag of for your cheek? It looks like its starting to swell." She offered.

Vaughn hadn’t even cracked a smile. His expression stayed serious and emotionless. He didn’t mind the wounds. Never had minded them too much. He thought it best not to accept help from any sorr of stranger either. “No thank you, I’ll br fine,” he told her slowly.

AJ purses her lips. "It wouldn't be any trouble at all. But…if you're sure." She said warily. She took another look at his bruise before looking away. "Well, if you change your mind or you need anything else, let me know alright?" She moved on to one of her regulars, Jerry. She fixed up his usual for him. "Thank you doll." She grinned. "No problem Jerry. Say hi to your wife for me." She glanced back down at the mystery man, pulling her between her teeth.

Vaughn had simply nodded his head in response to her question. He was pleased the conversation was over, relieved he could sit in silence and sip his drink. The figure had vanished once she left, or so he thought. He glanced up at a nearby mirror, only to see it standing behind him, its hand on his shoulder. A shudder ean through him as he downed the rest of the drink. It burned his throat badly, but he would put up with it.

AJ tended to those who came up to the bar, though she found that her attention always went back to the man at the end of the bar. She wasn't sure what it was, but she felt drawn to him. There was something about him that made her want to know him more. Perhaps it's the fact that he seems so mysterious and his looks play a big hand in it too. She supposed that it was because he looked so mysterious that she was drawn to him. It was for the same reason they said that good girls were always drawn to the bad boys. There was just something about them that you couldn't explain.

Vaughn, on the other hand, was set on staying as far away from the curious bartender. While he could made up little scenarios in his mind of slipping back to her place, hands grabbing at clothes and skin. His eyes flicked to her face, and he idly wondered if her lips would taste as sweet as they appeared. But he ripped his gaze away and finished off his drink. That was dangerous. Those desires were dangerous in his situation. His eyes flicked up to a TV where the news was on. *Local man, Mark Roberts, was found dead around 3 hours ago. Police say that it looked like a case of assault. We have not been informed if police think this is the work of the local serial killer, but as the man was a registered sex offender, it is assumed so.”

Avery turned to the TV, turning up the volume. She listened to the reporter speak. She dragged her lip between her teeth as she listened. At first, she wasn't exactly sure how to feel. It was horrible that he was murdered, but perhaps it was a good thing if he had committed such an awful crime. She believed no sex offender should be allowed to walk free or else they commit another heinous crime. She rolled her eyes as multiple customers told her to turn it down, but obliged. "He had it coming. No one should be able to get away with sexual assault." She said lowly as she grabbed a washcloth and cleaned the counter.

Vaughn clenched his jaw as the woman continued to speak. “Witnesses caught a glimpse of the killer in all black. They are identified as a slim, tall white male. That was all that the police would give us at the moment.” He turned his head away afted a photo of the man was shown, it being an old mugshot. He tilted his head down, letting his eyes fall shut for a moment as he heard a whisper in his ear. Look at that, Finley. Pretty girl thinks you’re some sort of hero it snickered, and he resisted the urge to smack at the space where it would be like he might do in private. He opened his eyes and looked back up, motioning for the bartender so he could get his glass refilled.

Avery sighed as one of the more drunker customers stumbled up to the bar, attempting to order a drink. She sighed and declined, saying he'd had enough. She called his wife to come pick him up, like she had done several times before. Her eyes flickered back to the TV and she listened. A movement in the corner of her eyes caught her attention and she turned her head to the man. He had his glass raised. Sh we nodded and grabbed the bottle of bourbon. She walked over and refilled the glass. "There you are." She turned and put up the bottle.

Vaughn had waited for a moment, brushing his hair back a bit as he watched the female move. He licked his lips slowly as she filled his glass, glancing away from her face and to the liquor. He knew he was something like an alcoholic. He could get drunk every night if given the chance to. It helped drown out the whispers. He thanked the female for the drink, and promptly took a sip.

Avery smiled at him softly. "You're welcome." She spoke softly. She wondered what his hands would feel like against her skin, what it would be like to feel his caresses. Would he be rough or gentle? She wasn't sure which one she would prefer. She forced herself to walk away. She had a job to do. She couldn't let herself get distracted, but oh how she so dearly wanted to be distracted. She felt her core tighten and she clenched her thighs. She took a deep breath and sipped from a cold glass of water. There, that was better, or at least that's what she tried to tell herself.

Vaughn had glanced back at her when she seemed to linger for a moment. There was a tension there. He could just feel it lingering in the air. Was she having the same scandalous thoughts he was having when he would glance at her? How perfect would that turn out. Maybe he could have a bit of fun. He sure could use a bit of company. He would just have to always sugget going to their place and make up excuses for why he would leave. After a few minutes, he had downed his drink. That would be enough. His muscles ached from the struggle, and all he craved was sleep. He took out a pen, clicking it open and scribbling a note down onto a small napkin that said: Give me a call sometime. -V.F. as well as his phone number. He decided he would include the initials. He would tell her his name later. He set the money that he owed down under the empty glass, as well as a tip before he stood up, ducking his head as he slipped from the bar.

(Does he want her to call him after work or in a couple day?)

(How about after work?)

(Okay)

Avery saw the man getting up and walking away. She couldn't stop the feeling disappointed as he did. She was hoping he would stay, wait until her shift was over, and ask to take her home with him. She could easily imagine them in the bed with no clothes. As she grabbed the money, she noticed the napkin with writing in it. She bit her lip and smiled after she read it. She tucked it and had tip into her pocket and put the cash in the register. She had never been so happy to get out of work early. They had slowed down enough where they only needed one bartender working, and Adam had told her he could stay until closing, then winked at her as if he knew what her nightly activity was going to be. She grabbed her things and hopped over the bar. Once she was outside, she pulled out the napkin and dialed the number. She put the phone to her ear and waited for him to answer.

By the time the female had gotten off of work and was calling Vaughn, he was back at the gas station. He had pushed open the glass doors and walked through the mesys isles over to where the main counter was. He went around to the back of it and sank into a sit in a desk chair, looking around the dark store. His eyes adjusted after a moment. It would be too risky to turn the lights on at night. He relaxed in the chair for a minute before getting uo ad going into the back room that was behind the counter. Back there was a few shelves, a bathroom which had a shower, thankfully, and a cot. He undressed, changing into a tshirt and a pair of sweats before he sat down on the cot. As he did so, he heard his phone ring. He picked it up and answered it. “Hello?” He asked, still having the same roughness in his tone even over the phone.

Avery had started walking down the familiar road home, in case he didn't answer. She didn't live far from where she worked, only a few blocks away. She didn't see the point in driving and wasting gas when she had two perfectly good legs. She was also very broke at the moment and couldn't afford gas, so she was doing everything she could to save what was in her tank. She wasn't afraid of walking home, she'd done it many times at night. No one really bothered her. She did have her pepper spray on her if anyone did try and grab her, but she's never had to use it before. AJ silently gasped as she heard his voice. The roughness made her clench her thighs in anticipation. "Um, hi, this is the girl from the bar."

Vaughn recognized the female’s voice. She was calling is soon. He had guessed it was a.. client. He preffered to say that over abuse victim or something like that. Thanks to an old therapist of his, when woman would come to tell about what was happening, they would be asked if they would like help from him. So far, most have said yes after a few days of thought. “Ah, I see. Just get off work?” He asked. He stood up from the cot and walked out into the main area to snag a random granola bar from one of the shelves.

Avery had hoped she didn't sound like she was desperate, even though she kind of was. She really wanted to take to him to bed for many, many hours. She put a hand in her pocket as she walked. "It was slow enough I got off early. A miracle really." She huffed a laugh. She had only really gotten off once early once before, and that was months ago. The bar was normally busy enough that it required two bartenders. Or her managers kept her longer because she was good at getting customers to keep drinking.

Vaughn listened to her closely, phone tucked between the crook of his neck and shoulder to be near to his ear as he opened the granola bar. “Well, that must be nice, then,” he commented about her getting off early. He wondered what having an actual job would be like. He thought he might like it. At least there would be less likely of a chance of him getting hurt or killed. But that wasn’t possible. He couldn’t go back now. The world needed to be cleansed of those evil men. “I never caught your name,” he spoke up after a quick moment of silence, walking back into the back room to sit on the cot.

Avery turned her head, looking at both sides of the street before crossing. She didn't fancy getting hit by a car…again. that was painful. "Avery. But everyone calls me AJ. You can call me either." She said. "What's your name?" She asked in return. All she knew were his initials, thanks to the napkin. She walked up the stairs to her apartment. As she unlocked her door, she was thankful that her roommate wasn't home. She was visiting her family for the weekend.
