Fantasy O/O? // Closed

"Oh, yeah," Itzal agreed. "That's probably a good idea." He followed Cole down the street, head swiveling left and right to search for a shop that would have the charm. It would probably be better to eat breakfast before they got the charm, just in case the beings appeared soon. Better to be well-fed and able to flee to another place than have a charm but not have any energy. Itzal wasn't tired, but soon, he would be really hungry. And that would hurt his ability to fight the beings and keep Cole safe. He hadn't found a shop with charms yet, which was probably good.

"Do you like donuts? I think I remember that there's a place around here that makes killer donuts, plus then we could walk while we eat. Otherwise, there's a diner somewhere, they would have a larger variety of things for breakfast and we could sit while we eat," Cole offered, his pace casual but nowhere near slow as he walked along the sidewalk. While Itzal looked for somewhere with charms, he kept his eyes open for both the beings and food, seeing as it was his stomach that protested with loud growls.

"Donuts?" Itzal frowned lightly. He'd had one a few years ago, and could vaguely remember liking it. And walking while eating would probably lead to finding a charm faster, which was ideal. There would be less time for the beings to find them. "Yeah, sure!" He nodded, glancing over at Cole for a second. "I haven't had one in a while, but I'm pretty sure I like them." A sign caught his eye and he turned to look, only to find that it wasn't what he was looking for. Shame.

He nodded in response, a happy smile on his face, "Perfect, that works then, seeing as the place I remember is right there." Cole pointed to a small but bustling little place across the street, the sign above the door reading 'Bear Claw Bakery' In looping lettering. It seemed like a nice place, and how close they were to the shop made it easy, as they only had to cross one street–no matter that it was an extremely busy street filled with cars going both ways.

"Oh, that looks delightful!" Itzal grinned, eyes drinking in every detail of the place. There were a lot of people, but that might help them blend in… unless, of course, the beings were tracking them– well, him– using something other than just looking. That was probably what they were doing, actually. Tracking him by his power, or aura, or whatever. He turned his attention to looking at the street. "How should we get across? Is there a crosswalk?" He asked, searching for a way to cross the road.

"I think there's one at the end of the block." He looked at the sidewalk ahead and nodded when he was right, knowing fully well that there was no way he was going to cross the busy street right there. A little extra walking to get to the bakery sounded much better than being hit by a car. Cole kept his eyes open for any more of the beings as he and Itzal walked to the crosswalk, wary of any dark corner that the beings could be hiding in.

"Ah, good." Itzal located the crosswalk, glad they wouldn't have to run across. "I'd hate to have made it this way only to get hit by a car." He laughed slightly, glancing over at Cole. If they did, hypothetically, get hit by a car, Itzal would probably be fine. He had fallen from a huge distance and only had a few cuts and bruises, after all. Seeing as they were going to the bakery now, he stopped looking for shops that had charms, at least for the time being. They could look for those after they'd gotten some breakfast.

Cole offered a light laugh as well, nodding, "We've survived creepy beings, getting hit by a car is a sad way to go in comparison." The crosswalk had the normal red hand shown, though less than thirty seconds it switched to the green man, signaling that they could cross. It felt strangely normal to be crossing a road after spending an entire morning doing nothing that was normal, all while being accompanied by a literal god.

Itzal nodded, glad that the crosswalk didn't take too long to turn green. He wanted to spend as much time here as he could there– hey, the city was interesting, and he was looking forward to maybe being able to sleep in an actual bed that night. If they managed to stay hidden for that long. But he was trying to be optimistic. Itzal had done so many weird things that day already, and half of them were just normal human activities. He wanted to do something normal, like lying down in a bed and closing his eyes. He'd done that as a god, though it hadn't been strictly necessary.

"I think I'm going to get a cherry-filled donut," Cole started as they crossed, already thinking over just what he wanted to get from the bakery, "And something covered in sprinkles. What about you?" It was a random change of conversation, but he didn't mind, just happy to be near the bakery as they reached the other side of the road and started the walk towards the delicious smell coming from the shop.

Itzal gave a surprised laugh, the sudden change of conversation making him smile. "Oh, I don't know. Something with sprinkles does sound nice. Maybe something with cinnamon," He mused, glancing over at Cole. "I take it you're excited to get in there?" Itzal sure was. The smell drifting towards them from the bakery was almost too good for him to stand.

Cole nodded eagerly, smiling as they neared the shop, "It's been a long time since I've treated myself to donuts, I'm excited." He clearly looked excited as well when they finally reached the open door to the shop, the smell of fresh-baked bread and donuts overwhelmingly strong. Cole led the way into the shop, winding around people easily and making sure his companion didn't wander off.

"Well, I'm glad one good thing has come out of this whole mess," Itzal sighed. His sorrowful mood didn't last long too long in the face of the bread smells, though. Itzal breathed in deeply, making sure to keep close to Cole. He really didn't want to get separated from his mortal partner– after all, what would happen if the beings found Cole without Itzal by his side? He shook his head slightly, dispelling the dark thoughts from his mind. He was in a bakery, getting donuts. This was no place for any sort of pessimism.

"Finally, good food," He mumbled, standing happily in line alongside Itzal, his eyes scanning over the choices. Everything looked good, but he decided on what he had chosen before they had reached the store; a cherry-filled donut and the most sprinkle covered one he could find. "What are your choices?" He asked Itzal, looking over at him and motioning to the variety, "Just so I know what to order before we reach the counter."

Itzal followed Cole's example, scanning over the various pastries. There were a couple of good-looking ones, including some cinnamon rolls and the sprinkled-covered one Cole had decided on. "Uh… that one, probably. It looks fun," Itzal said, pointing to the sprinkle-covered donut. "And that, too." He gestured towards what looked like a blueberry muffin, though he didn't know for sure. It might've been a different fruit, but he was sure it would taste delicious.

Cole nodded, inching forward in the line as it moved and soon arriving at the counter. "Two sprinkle donuts, a blueberry muffin and a cherry-filled donut as well, please," He rattled off easily to the girl working behind the glass cases. She nodded in return and went to get everything together as Cole pulled out his wallet and shot a glance at Itzal, "Anything else you want to get before I pay?"

Itzal hung back while Cole ordered, not wanting to get in the way. He looked around the bakery, looking at all the other people waiting in line. For a few seconds, he was jealous of them. They probably didn't have to be constantly on edge and ready to leave at any moment. Itzal quickly pushed those feelings back, though. They wouldn't help him or Cole at all. "Huh? Oh, no thanks," He answered, turning back towards Cole.

"Alright then," He replied, paying the girl and accepting the paper bag that their food was tucked inside of. Cole smiled to Itzal once he was done, holding onto the bag triumphantly as he motioned for the god to follow him back out of the store. "Finally, I'm hungry," He said, stopping to the side of the bakery and opening the bag up, "What do you want first? Donut or muffin?"

Itzal smiled as well, his mouth watering at the smell. "Yeah, me too." He laughed softly, leaning towards Cole slightly. "Muffin, probably. I want to save the sprinkles for last." Itzal decided, glancing around the street. Even with him about to eat baked goods, Itzal couldn't relax all the way. Those beings might come out from anywhere and attack them, and he really wanted to eat before that happened.

Cole pulled out the muffin with a soft smile and held it out to Itzal, nodding in agreement with that decision, "Sprinkles are always the best last, you're right." He pulled out his cherry-filled donut and without hesitation started eating, careful not to get the red filling all over his mouth or clothes. A bright smile appeared on his face and he nodded towards the sidewalk, starting to walk again and hoping his friend followed.

Itzal accepted the muffin, returning Cole's smile. "Yeah," he agreed, starting to carefully take off the wrapper of the muffin. It was so cute how excited Cole was about his donut, though Itzal could agree full-heartedly. He took a small bite of the muffin and sighed blissfully. It was one of the best muffins he'd ever eaten, and he'd had some pretty amazing muffins. "This is so good!" Itzal exclaimed, following Cole down the sidewalk. "You picked a wonderful place to have breakfast."

"I'm glad you agree," He replied, nodding as he continued to eat. The donut was extremely good and could easily pass as one of his absolute favorites, especially when it had been forever since he had eaten a donut for breakfast. "When we outrun and defeat those beings, and you're back on earth for a visit, we should definitely go back there sometime," Cole offered, smiling happily. His guard was down as he ate, but their walking kept him vigilant for a shop that would sell a charm to Itzal.

Itzal nodded, taking another bite of his muffin. If the muffin was that good, he couldn't imagine what his other pastry might taste like. Better, probably, due to the sprinkles. He looked over at Cole, a surprised smile on his face. "Yeah, I'd like that. There were so many different things in there. I'd love to try them all." Itzal remembered that he was supposed to be looking for a charm for the sword halfway through his muffin and started looking. Even by the time he finished eating the muffin, he still hadn't found the right shop. He was about to complain when a small sign caught his eye: Isabella's Charms: Magic Trinkets for Every Occasion. That might work. Itzal tapped Cole's shoulder and nodded towards the sign. "What do you think?"

Cole's eyes had gone right past the sign until Itzal tapped him and his attention focused back on it. "I don't think it would hurt to at least check," He suggested, trying to savor the last bite of the donut he had scarfed down. Fighting creepy beings had definitely left him hungrier than he normally was that was for sure. "Do you think you're friend left one of the charms you need in there?"

Itzal nodded, starting towards it. "I hope so. Though, watch this be the one shop Zoe didn't drop something at." He laughed, seriously hoping that wasn't the case. "Can I have my other donut?" Itzal asked, still kind of hungry. It was probably a better idea to wait until they'd gone in and out of the shop, but he didn't want to wait. This shop looked like it didn't get many customers, so they probably wouldn't kick him out for eating if he was going to buy something.

(Ok, I'm going to let you know (Even if I know it sounds like a major excuse), I'm working two jobs over these next two weeks so my replies might be more infrequent, but I promise I don't want this to die and I'll try to reply at least once a day :) )
"Yeah, you can," Cole replied, slowing down as he reached into the bag and pulled out Itzal's donut. He handed it to him and smiled, following the god's way towards the shop and hoping that it had what he needed. If it didn't, who knew what they would have to do to get the sword disguised. It would take too much of Itzal's power for him to conceal it, and the only other thing that came to him was maybe finding a sheath for it and wearing it on one of their backs. Then it could pass as maybe just a toy.

"Thank you." Itzal accepted the donut and took a small bite, a little smile appearing on his lips. "This is almost better." He sighed happily, savoring the taste. It tasted amazing, and he was really glad he had gotten it. A few bites later, he was standing in front of the shop door. After a second of hesitation, Itzal grabbed the handle and pulled the door open. It only took a couple of steps into the shop to find out that the shop was the perfect place to find a real charm. Itzal glanced around, then started towards the nearest shelf. Picking the real charms from the fake ones was something only a god could do at a glance, which meant Cole couldn't help. It was unfortunate, but having Cole actually test every single one would be too slow.

Cole followed Itzal in, trailing behind him as he pulled out his other donut and started eating. As a human, there was no way he could help his friend, and so he decided just to wander around instead. He turned down a different path than Itzal, making sure he stayed relatively close and just studied the different things they sold in the shop. After all, it was the first time he had ever had reason to come into a shop like this.

Itzal scanned the first shelf, his dark eyes scanning each of the charms. He was looking for something that gave off a slightly silvery aura, but so far there was nothing. Itzal took an absentminded bite of his donut and turned the corner. The charms nearest to him didn't have anything, but farther down, he saw something. His heart skipped a beat and he hurried towards the charm. Even as he got closer, the charm didn't lose that silver aura. "Cole, I think I found one!" Itzal said softly, hoping Cole could hear him. He reached out and grabbed the charm, which was a small, amber gem set in silver on a silver chain. The metal was warm and slightly tingly against his palm, another thing only gods could feel. It was real.

Cole wandered the rows, picking up things and studying them before putting them back down. Nothing stood out or looked special, it all looked mostly like rocks; set in rings or necklaces or just on their own. Whatever this charm was, it was clearly only visible to gods. "Is it what we need?" He asked, hurrying back to Itzal and studying the charm in his hand. To him, it looked no more special than a gem on a tarnished necklace, but from the look on his face, he knew it must have been a big deal.
