“…I see.” Evangeline deadpanned for a moment. Finally someone worth my time, she thought, a frown forming on her face. Evangeline tilted her head a pressed a finger to her lips, “So… you don’t like me talking to you then? Am I bothering you? Oh my! I certainly hope I’m not doing that!!”

@Simon-Says

Caelia closed her eyes for a moment, supremely annoyed. "Well, considering that we're not friends and I've never talked to you before in my life, yes, you are kind of bothering me," she said, keeping a smile on her face.

“Well… why don’t we become friends then? I’d like to make this up to you!” Evangeline said, smiling the sweetest smile she could muster. She put her hand out to Caelia, waving it slightly, “I’m Evangeline Braxford, Student Council President!”

@Simon-Says

Caelia pointedly ignored her hand. "Sorry, you're… not the type of person I become friends with." She leaned on her elbow and went back to her book.

Evangeline slowly receded her hand back into her lap, stunned. “…Oh,” She mumbled, sniffling, “W…What type of people do you befriend then? And- And if you can’t answer that, at least tell me your name! It’s only polite, right?”

@Simon-Says

Caelia sighed, turning back toward the other girl. "Hi, I'm Caelia. I'm a nerd and an introvert. I have exactly one friend at this school, and we're friends because we're both smartasses and nerds, and neither of us have more than 3 total friends. I don't hand out with student council presidents who are friends with absolutely everyone in the school. Try not to take it personally; I'm not a polite person."

“Well, I wouldn’t say I’m friends with everybody at the school! Since… you know, I’ve already been woefully rejected by you,” Evangeline tries to make a small joke, “And I’m not taking it personally! Erm, I’m not trying to!” She bites her lip, looking to the side.

@Simon-Says

"Could you like… not look so disappointed? It's making me feel uncomfortable," she muttered. And it was making her very uncomfortable. Emotions generally did that.

“Well I am disappointed! I was going to see if you wanted to like, come to my Christmas Party next week but you’re super introverted so… and then you don’t even wanna be my friend?… I’m not trying to make you uncomfortable, I’m just upset.” Evangeline knew what she was doing, she was trying to sway the smartass to softening up. If making her uncomfortable was the only way: so be it. She checked the clock on the wall, humming in thought to see how much time she had left to execute this.

@Simon-Says

Caelia rolled her eyes. "Okay, seriously, I've seen the people you hang out with. They're not Harry Potter geeks with frizzy hair. Why did you just decide 20 minutes ago that you wanted to be friends with me? Unless it's just part of your high school monopoly," she said, voice oozing with sarcasm.

(I love Caelia so much omL)
“I- Well! It’s not- it’s not monopoly!!!” Evangeline said, a little annoyed. But, she was more amused than annoyed. She gulped, and looked around briefly, making sure everyone was occupied with their work. It’s very suspicious, and she leans towards Caelia, as if waiting for her to point it out. Play the game. Ask me~ Come on… You don’t even know how deep you’re in already~ Her thoughts beg.

@Simon-Says

(😂 thanks lmao)
"Yes, very convincing. I can tell you're so worried about your high school monopoly. So, you are trying to be suspicious, right? Because I don't think you're genuinely that bad at acting," she leaned against her elbow and stared Evangeline in the eyes.

(She’s just an icon lmaooo)
Evangeline grinned, “The truth is I’m impressed by you. You interested me, you’ve seen through me. And… honestly? I’d like to know how someone can be that perceptive.” She said very quietly, a slight malice lacing her voice.

@Simon-Says

Caelia raised an eyebrow, mildly surprised. "So… what you're saying is that you're not a dumb blonde stereotype. Damn, I'm good," she smiled to herself. "This still doesn't mean we're going to be friends. Just because you're fake, doesn't mean that I'm interested." Although Evangeline was disgustingly gorgeous, she was also fake, and that wasn't something Caelia wanted to deal with.

Her eye twitches slightly, as she lets out a heavy sigh. Evangeline cracks her knuckles, resting her chin on the hands. “Well of course I’m not stupid. You need to work your way around people to get through life… it’s not being fake. It’s business. I thought you of all people would get that, but I suppose not. Be that way, you can stay alone for all I care.” She yawns as she goes to sit back properly, pausing. “Well… unless you’d like to actually take a chance for once in your life. You’re not a coward, right?” Evangeline cooes this, a smirk on her face.

@Simon-Says

Caelia actually laughed, but quickly disguised it as a cough, trying to muster a serious expression. "Are you suggesting there's something dangerous about being your friend? Because, somehow, I just… I just don't see that being likely."

“It’s not that there’s anything dangerous! It’s just, well… I think you’re too scared to even try to be friends with someone popular! And here I thought you were actually interesting. I can’t believe I was wrong, is all.” Evangeline didn’t hear the laugh, she was actually worried for a moment that Caelia choked. She doesn’t show it though, keeping a smug look on her face.

@Simon-Says

"Well, social anxiety, introversion, and popular people don't really mix," Caelia answered drily. "The very idea of being popular is genuinely terrifying to me because my brain doesn't work."

Evangeline takes a moment to think, then rolls her eyes, “Uhm… I never said you had to be friends with my friends, or even try to be popular. I just want to hang out alone with you, once. Get to know you.” Evangeline grabs a sticky note from out of her bag, as well as an obnoxiously neon blue glitter gel pen. She scrawls something out on it, an places it in the middle of Caelia’s book. “If you change your mind, call me, or shoot me a text. The bells about to ring after all.”

@Simon-Says

"Oh my god," Caelia rolled her eyes and stood up from her seat, shoving her notebook and pens into her backpack. She closed the book, leaving the sticky note inside, and walked out of class before the bell could ring. Well that was absolutely fucking insane, she thought to herself, shaking her head.

Evangeline watched Caelia leave, her heart pounding in her chest as the bell rang. She quietly shuffled her stuff into her bag and went off with a group of friends, her mind now going to, Why on earth did I just give my number to her?! It was a sort of instant regret. But, it didn’t matter to her. There was no way Caelia would call her, or text her, she decided, as she left the class with said friend group.

@Simon-Says

(I'm just gonna - )
Caelia had a relatively normal day after Chemistry. No one else just decided to be friends with her on a whim, which was good because she probably would have had a mental breakdown if that had happened. At the end of the day, she went to the library to fill in her best friend, Samantha. "She what?" Sam shook her head in disbelief, "are you gonna text her?" Caelia wrinkled her nose. "No. Obviously not. Probably. I don't know."

(Would you like me to play her friend so we can just work this scene out? If so, what’s Sam like, just so I can play her right?)

@Simon-Says

(Oh, sure, that would be fun! Sam is a lot like Caelia, just slightly more extroverted? Like, still totally a smartass but less withdrawn?)

(Ok cool! Teehee qwq)
Sam blinks a few times, before slamming a hand on the cover of her book, “Bah- you don’t know?! How do you not know! What good is having a girls number if you’re not going to text it!” She exclaims.

@Simon-Says

Caelia raised an eyebrow. "You do know who she is, right? Did you even listen to anything I said?" She shook her head. "How long have we been friends again?"

person_off

“Well of course I know who she is! I know who she is better than you apparently. She’s drop-dead gorgeous. Of course that whole, ‘she’s not who she appears to be’ thing is there, according to you…” Sam sighs, grabbing Caelia’s hands and shaking them. “I’m your best friend, I’ve been her for a long ass time. I listened, and my deduction is that I can’t chose your fate for you. I know what I’d do, but we’re different people Caelia. Totally different people. Think of it this way: I don’t think she would’ve give you her actual number if she wanted to use you as a game piece, right?”

@Simon-Says

Caelia groaned. "Godammit, Sam. Now you've made it an actually difficult decision." She put her head down the table and sighed. After a few seconds, she abruptly lifted her head back up. "No, though, because it would just suck to be friends with her, especially with the whole 'drop-dead gorgeous' thing."

“Well I’m sooooo sorry I’m trying to make sure you’re rationalizing…” Samantha mumbles, then gives Caelia a look. “Ah. So the predicament isn’t just you being socially-awkward and anxious and worried she’s trying to use you, it’s also that you fancy her, huh?” She asks, snorting in slight amusement.

@Simon-Says

"I do not fancy her," Caelia glared. "Don't be stupid. I just recognize - I'd look even worse by comparison. Plus, she's probably already got a boyfriend or two or five."
(Is this a boarding school? That would be fun)
