It starts to get dark and Sammy begins to grow tired. She heads to sleep when she hears a noise come from deep in the cave. She jumps, "What was that?!"

"I don't know," Jaclyn instinctively went into a position where it'd be easiest for her to start moving quickly. "But be prepared to run."
"Well great! I just wanted to sleep!" As those words left Sammy's mouth they heard a great roar. "On second thoughts, let's run!"
school
"Yeah, that's why I warned you…" she took off sprinting, but stopped by a bush, waiting for Sammy. "Come on!"
Sammy tries to run, but she can't. She feels an urge to continue into the cave to find the source of the sound. She started running, but into the cave instead of out.
school
"What are you doing??" Jaclyn shouted after Sammy. She sighed, and ran into the cave along with Sammy.
Sammy keeps running until she comes across a large furry animal. It seems injured.
school
"Holy cow, what on earth is that?" Jaclyn exclaimed, skidding to a sudden stop.
"Shhh! You will aggravate it!" Sammy pats the animal gently.
school
"What, I'm going to aggravate it? It's scaring me!" she exclaimed, but she lowered her voice.
"It's hurt okay? Give me five minutes." Sammy tries to find the hurt point.
school
Jaclyn sighed, but she stayed silent after that and watched Sammy.
Sammy finds a deep scratch mark on the bears stomach. "Jac, can you go and find some tea tree leaves?"
school
"Tea tree leaves?" she asked, confused. "Did you see any nearby?"
"Just go! She's in pain." Sammy waves Jaclyn out of the cave.
school
"…okay…" Jaclyn moved out into the small clearing that surrounded the mouth of the cave and looked around. There! In the far distance there was a small tree that seemed like they had the shape of tea tree leaves. She ran towards it, hoping she was right. Ugh, nope. So close! But the next one, that was definitely it. She plucked a few, and ran back towards Sammy, panting with effort.
Sammy comforts the poor creature, then Jaclyn returns with the leaves. "Thank god!" She takes them and lays them over the wound.
school
"Wait, so how do you know it won't eat you as soon as its given the chance?" and as if on cue, the creature yawned, not a big one though. however, it did expose some of its very sharp teeth, and jaclyn flinched, instinctively.
"If it tries, we run. Simple." Sammy says it quite calmly as she tends to the creature.
school
"How can you be so calm?" she asked. her stress levels were rising by the second.
“How can I not be? The garden is so tranquil and the creatures who live here are so beautiful. How can I not be calm?” Sammy questions, watching as Jaclyn gets more and more stressed. “Go outside and calm down. You will feel better.”
school
"She's beautiful, yes, but I don't want to take risks," Jaclyn explained, but stepped outside of the cave and watched some small birds flutter up around the treetops, blissfully happy.
Sammy finishes tending to the bear and then walks out to find Jaclyn. She spots her watching the birds flutter above the trees as the sun rises. "I'll race you to the top of the tree!" She says, racing past her and up the tree.
school
"Wait what?" Jaclyn asked, startled, and blinking. A couple seconds later, her brain finally comprehended what Sammy had said and starting running towards the tree, a smile growing on her face.
Sammy and Jaclyn start racing up the trees.
school
jaclyn ignored the rough bark scraping against her skin, all she had in her mind was climbing the tree.
Sammy reached the top, the sun was just starting to rise, she waited for jaclyn to catch up.
school
when jaclyn reached the top as well, she finally noticed the dull stinging in her palms, a reminder that she still was only human, and her skin was easily susceptible to tiny things like splinters. resting her back against a nearby branch, she looked at her hands and noticed several spinters but ignored them, not really caring about them at the moment. instead, she looked out at the view, and she could see so much, it amazed her.
Sammy stares out, "it's beautiful, isn't it?"
school
"Yeah, it really is," Jaclyn agreed, nodding.
