Sebastian helped as best he could, but he mostly just got in the way. Setting his figure down on the ‘START’ square, he grinned. “Get ready to lose.”

Sebastian blinked incredulously at the board. “I won? I— won?” He stared at the cards in his hands, face breaking into a grin. “No way.”

Devon sighed and handed him the rest of her money. "Congrats, Sebastian. Looks like you did beat me," she said, giving him a small smile.
She had enjoyed the game, honestly. It was nice to spend time with him to play it, even though she wasn't quite sure why she enjoyed his company so much. Whatever the reason, she was just happy he hadn't been scared off the first time he saw Layla…

“I actually can’t believe this.” He glanced up at her, wide-eyed. “Did you rig this? I’ve never won any games before.”

"Ah, yes. I forgot. We played my magic game of monopoly. Each piece has a separate ability. The dog's is luck. He gives you more of a chance of getting good streets and Chance cards," Devon joked with a small grin. "The cat's is stealth; she just helps you get more money, really."

Sebastian rolled his eyes playfully, shoving at her shoulder. “Ha ha.”

Devon chuckled and started to put the game away before glancing back up at him. "Did you want to play again, or should I put it away?" she wondered.
“I’ll help you out put it away,” he told her, moving to place his Scottie dog back in the box. In doing so, his hand accidentally brushed Devon’s.

Devon flinched a little at the contact but didn't say anything as her heart rate skyrocketed. He wasn't going to purposefully touch her in any way, which she knew. What she didn't know was why she felt almost disappointed by the thought.
Get yourself together, Devon. You are friends, and that is all you will ever be. You should be grateful of that. Being touched by a man shouldn't be something you want after what you went through.
She blinked at her thoughts as she silently helped Sebastian with the game. What was going on with her lately?
Sebastian’s heart stumbled over its next few beats, and his hands fumbled on the lid of the box. He swallowed, blinking multiple times in a failed attempt to clear his foggy head— what on earth was happening to him?

Devon cleared her throat as she picked the box up. "I'll, um, be right back," she said softly, feeling her neck and face starting to heat up.
She stood and made her way to the hall closet where the games were and put the box away. Sighing, she closed the door, leaned against the wall, and rubbed at her face. Whatever was going on with her, it needed to stop. He certainly didn't like her that way, and that was good. Right? She wasn't ready for a relationship ship yet. Right…?
Sebastian stared down at his hands after she’d left, clenching and unclenching them. Good going. You absolute idiot. He raised one of his fists, inhaled sharply, and punched himself in the face. Hard. Then, he pushed himself to his feet and went after Devon.

Devon glanced up and pushed herself off the wall at the sound of footsteps. She glanced toward the entrance, chewing on her lip a bit.
She was overreacting. He'd just barely brushed his hand against hers. It wasn't the end of the world. Plus, it hasn't felt bad, it hasn't hurt on the slightest. And he seemed to genuinely want to not hurt her.
He rounded the corner finally, and her eyes widened slightly. "Sebastian… What happened to your face?" she whispered, seeing the red mark.
Sebastian’s acting skills immediately kicked in, and a confused expression contorting his features. “What…? Devon, are you alright? I’m sorry for what happened in there—“

Devon shook her head quickly, chewing on her lip with her eyebrows furrowed as she took in the sight of the red mark. "It's fine, don't worry about it," she said almost absentmindedly as she stepped closer to him. "What happened?"
The baffled mask on Sebastian’s face didn’t break. “Devon, what are you….?” He shook his head. “But actually— I’m sorry. It was an accident I swear.”

Devon sighed and leaned against the wall again. He wasn't going to talk to her about it, was he? The darned stubborn man…
"Really, Sebastian. It's fine," she assured him gently. "It was an accident. And it's not like you were trying to hurt me or anything."
I don't think you would ever try to hurt me, honestly.
She blinked at the thought, keeping it to herself. Her mind was just in a whirlwind today, wasn't it?
He sighed, averted his eyes. “Are you sure it’s fine? I don’t want to hurt you…” His hand subconsciously went up to the bruise forming on his cheek.

"I'm sure. Honestly. It was just a brush of hands," Devon said softly, her eyes following the movement of his hand. He'd obviously done something, but he didn't seem to want to talk about it. But why had he done it?
Sebastian pushed his hand away from his cheek and up into his hair. “Okay… if you’re sure.”
