Devon shook her head, wrapping her arms around herself to keep in some of her body heat. “No, not really. Just staying home. You?”
(Hey, I’m getting pictures done, so I won’t be on for a while.)
Devon shook her head, wrapping her arms around herself to keep in some of her body heat. “No, not really. Just staying home. You?”
(Hey, I’m getting pictures done, so I won’t be on for a while.)
(np, how are you?)
"Same here, probably, although I'm still looking for a job," he replied, wondering if it would be considered weird to arrange something with her. It wasn't as if he'd be asking her out on a date, he had absolutely no inclination to do that (yet).
(Good! You?
Also: Lol, Sebastian.)
“We lead very exciting lives, don’t we?” Devon chuckled. Well… Hers was somewhat exciting, anyway…
(pretty good! and yeah lol)
Sebastian snorted. Yeah, right. Exciting. "Sure, let's go with that," he replied, voice dripping with sarcasm. He made sure to put a teasing light in his eye, just for her to know that he didn't mean it harshly.
Devon turned to give him a quick smile as she dug for her keys. They were nearing her car, so she wanted to be ready for when they reached it. “Yup… Exciting,” she said softly.
After a beat, Sebastian came to the conclusion that Devon wouldn't misinterpret his words if he asked her to hang out, he'd make it clear that it wasn't a date of any sort. "Since we both seem to have uneventful weekends planned, do you want to meet up?"
(This is the most ridiculous photo session ever. Lol.)
“Oh. Yeah, sure! That— That actually sounds good,” Devon said, turning to give him a slight grin. And if she could bring Layla, she could introduce him to her. “Um… Could I bring someone?”
(lol how was it?)
"Yeah sure," Sebastian replied easily, though he felt his anxiety rise at the idea of talking to a stranger. "You boyfriend?" he guessed, raising his eyebrows.
(It was good! We got some good pics!)
“No, no,” Devon replied quickly, shaking her head. “No. Um. Just… someone I want you to meet.”
(awesome!)
Sebastian frowned slightly, wondering who she could be talking about, but didn't ry. "I'm game for that," he replied finally, slipping his hands into his pockets.
Devon smiled and nodded quickly. “Good. That sounds good, then. Well… We’re at my car, so I’ll see you then, I guess.”
"Yeah, see you." He smiled, completely genuine. "Lunch, tomorrow around 1:00? Meet at the coffee shop and go somewhere else?"
“That sounds like a plan,” Devon said, giving him a grin. “Bye, Sebastian.”
(Skip?)
(Sure, to lunch?)
(Sure)
Sebastian scanned the street ahead for any sign of Devon’s car, feeling strangely anxious as he fidgeted with the drawstrings of his sweater. What if she’d dressed up? What if she thought this was a date? That would be immensely awkward…. I hope that doesn’t happen..
(And Devon is bringing her daughter, which should assure him that it’s not a date. Lol.)
A few minutes later, Devon pulled up to the cafe, parking nearby. She got out, smiling a bit when she saw Sebastian, and waved at him.
Oh, gosh… Why am I doing this? Why did I think bringing Layla would be a good idea?
Devon chewed on her lip as she gathered her things. She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts, and moved to the back of the car to grab Layla.
(Lol yeah)
Sebastian caught sight of Devon, and a smile lit up his face. He raised one hand to give her a wave and the other to tug the neckline of his sweater up, masking a bruise. Watching her go around to the back of the car, his brow furrowed as he caught sight of a tiny head. Was that a… child? Was that who she was bringing with? There was no one in the passenger seat..
Devon hefted Layla up and propped the toddler on her hip as she shut the door. She made her way over to Sebastian, blushing. Maybe it was too weird to bring her daughter. They hardly knew each other, after all.
When she reached Sebastian, she gave him a small smile. “Hey. How’re you?”
Don’t make her feel uncomfortable. Act natural. So what if she has a kid? It’s no reason to be a prick. Sebastian have her a friendly smile, bending down so that he was eye to eye with the tiny girl. “Hey, I’m good, you? And who’s this adorable girl?”
Layla bubbled with laughter and reached out to bap Sebastian’s nose. Devon chuckled a bit and moved her daughter’s arm down.
“This is Layla, my, um, daughter…” Devon introduced her softly, carefully avoiding his gaze by smiling at the toddler.
“Cool,” he replied, making sure to keep his tone casual. He didn’t want her to feel bad or weird, or had evidently been a leap of faith to bring her daughter with, and he respected that. “She’s adorable, congratulations. How old?”
“Thank you. She’s two as of January,” Devon said, kissing the girl on her forehead. The kiss earned her a giggle, and Layla snuggled closer to her mother.
With a small smile, Devon finally turned back to face Sebastian. “Anyway… I believe we had lunch plans?”
Two? Was she– Sebastian quickly cut the thought off, appalled at himself for his rudeness, even if it was only inside of his head. "Yeah, I believe we did. There's a place just a few streets down, the serve really good Thai food, if that's the sort of thing you like. Or we could go to this organic place?"
Devon chewed on her lip in thought for a moment before glancing at Layla. “I didn’t bring anything for Layla… That was really dumb of me, sorry. Um… Do you think the Thai place would have something mild for her?”
"It's no problem, and yeah, they've got plenty of stuff with no spice, plus a kid's meal. What is she allowed to eat?" Sebastian asked, stepping out of the way of a few pedestrians entering the coffee shop. "And we can probably just walk there from here, it's only a few minutes away and I don't know if you'd find parking any closer."
(Lol. Love the new user. ;P)
Devon nodded as she took the information in. “All right, how about we go there, then? And she can eat pretty much anything. I’ll jst have to make sure nothing is big or small enough for her to choke on.”
(lol thanks, I figured it was time for a Christmas-y change)
"Sounds like a plan." Sebastian's smile grew as he gestured in the direction of the restaurant. "Let's go, then."
“Yeah, let’s,” Devon agreed with a smile. She shifted Layla to her other side before muttering under her breath, “I should have brought the baby carrier…”
Sebastian heard, not realizing that the statement probably hadn't been meant for his ears. They began to walk, and he opened his mouth to make an offer. "I can hold her, if your arms get tired."
