Devon hummed, biting her lip to keep another chuckle from escaping. “You’ve got a little…” she trailed off, gesturing to his cheek.

"Damn it…." he muttered under his breath, dabbing at it with the paper towel but only succeeding in smudging it more.
Devon chewed on her lip as she watched the dark substance smudge over his cheek even more. She grabbed a paper towel and reached up towards him, stepping forward to get a better reach.
“May I?” she asked softly.
Sebastian blushed but complied, bending down a little. “Sure, um, yeah.”
Devon reached up to gently wipe the chocolate away. The blush on her cheeks becoming more apparent at the simple, yet almost intimate, touch.
Sebastian lifted his hand and tangled their fingers together, pressing Devon’s against his cheek. “Is this okay?” he whispered, blush deepening.
Devon blinked a couple of times before nodding slowly. Her cheeks reddened further at the prolonged contact, but it wasn't bad. In fact, it was rather nice…
"Yeah… It is," she breathed, her gaze flickering over his face.
"Can I come closer?" He breathed the question rather than spoke it, barely containing a shaky exhale at her proximity.
Why would he need to come closer? What could her so that brought him closer to her and wasn't simply hugging or… something else…
But she trusted him. She knew that he wouldn't do anything without her consent, and that even seemed to include being close to her.
"Yes…" she finally murmured softly.
“Thank you…” he whispered, shuffling forwards the tiniest bit.
Devon let her thumb brush over his cheek softly. He was so gentle with her… It was no wonder she was falling for him.
Sebastian’s breath caught in his throat. “Well..” he breathed, unable to take his eyes off hers. “This is definitely a very good Valentine’s Day..”
(I can't wait until they finally kiss oml)
(Lol. Same, tbh.)
“Definitely,” Devon agreed breathily with a slow nod. She gave him a small, some what flustered smile before gently pulling her hand away from his face and letting it rest between them, their fingers still intertwined.
She had such nice hands… small and soft, capable of the sweetest touches. Hands that fit perfectly in his. Sebastian smiled down at their intertwined fingers, warmth seeping through his chest.
Devon squeezed his hand gently before stepping even closer and leaning into his chest. She rested her head against his chest and slipped her free arm around him.
He had such strong arms, but they were so gentle with her. He could do so much, but he chose to be soft… And that meant more to her than she could even say.
Sebastian’s eyes went wide. His arms slipped loosely around Devon, his heart picking up speed…. could she hear it from her current position, thundering from her close proximity?
"Thank you," Devon murmured, willing her poor heart to keep beating when he returned the embrace. "For being so gentle and sweet and kind…"
Sebastian was almost certain that he would start trembling soon, a storm of potent emotions brewing in his chest.
“And thank you,” he whispered back, slipping a hand through her hair, “For allowing me to be with you.”
“It’s because of you that I’m able to be with you… If you hadn’t been so gentle with me, I honestly wouldn’t have thought you any different than other guys. But I’m glad I do, and I’m glad you are,” Devon murmured.
"I'm definitely glad, too," he agreed in a voice barely above a whisper.
Devon gave him a small smile, squeezing his hand gently. Was she falling for him? Was that what this feeling was? This feeling like she was drowning in emotions and never wanted to surface. Like she was free falling and never wanted to hit the ground…
It was exhilarating and frightening at the same time.
Eventually, Sebastian forced himself to pull away, thus disrupting the moment. “The, um, muffins should be ready by now..”
A loud beeping confirmed his words, making Devon jump. She glanced up at him with a small smile.
“You must be magic,” she joked with a soft laugh before going to pull them out of the oven.
“Definitely,” he smiled, “Let’s hope that opinion doesn’t change after tasting my muffins.”
“I’m sure they’ll be great,” Devon said, setting the muffin pans down on the top of the stove. She took her oven mitts off and put them away, turning to Sebastian when she was finished. “How long do you usually wait for them to be done cooling?”
"If I can restrain myself, ten minutes. If I can't….." He offered a lopsided grin. "I'll grab plates, you can sit down. Relax."
“Pft, nonono. C’mon, it’s my apartment. I should help you finish things up,” Devon insisted with a grin. “I’ll frost them, you can arrange them on a plate.”
“So stubborn…” he teased with a theatrical sigh. “Fine, fine. You can frost them.”
Devon chuckled softly and grabbed the tube of frosting from where it had been placed on the counter. With a hidden smirk, she quickly turned to place a dab of frosting on Sebastian’s face before turning around walking over to the muffins, biting her tongue to hold in her laughter.
