Casey raised her eyebrows. "Alright." She looked at his folder. "Would you excuse me for a moment, I think a paper from your file fell out when I was looking at it last night." Casey stood and walked toward the door. "I'll be right back," she said, slipping through the door.

Sam nodded, his shoulders instantly sagging the moment she left the room. He exhaled shakily, staring down at his wrist, which was red, bruised, and covered in torn skin.

"Alright. I believe that will be all. Would you mind joining your sister outside? I'll be out in just a moment." Casey took a sip from her tea as she looked down at the files on the table, not paying attention to Sam anymore.
Sam let out a shaky breath of relief, standing and leaving without another word.
Once out in the hallway, he sank into the sofa next to his sister, sagging against the back.

Casey looked over the files once more, flipping through them to make sure she hadn't missed anything. But she knew what her gut was telling her and she trusted her gut, so she drained the last of her tea, stood up and walked out of her office and to her living room, where she stood in front of Sam and Julie. "I have come to my decision."
Instantly, the full attention of both siblings was focused on the woman before them. Neither dared to speak, or breathe, they only nodded and waited. Julie reached for Sam's hand and squeezed it. She knew how much getting this job meant to him, and as much as she desired it as well, she wished only the best for him.
