She sighed quietly. "I just hope he'll be okay. I mean, I know he will be, but I can't help but worry. As a girlfriend, it's my job to."

Skye took out another, letting his power flow, letting them feel it, but still only using a small fraction of it. 3 more to go, no. Make that two, let one get away to tell the higher ups to lay off.

"You two are really serious aren't you?" said Marco teasingly.

"I guess you could call us serious." She chuckled softly.

Marco laughed, "Let me know when the wedding is so I can turn up as the best man!"
Skye rushed the last one, taking him out hand to hand, no magic. Two more.

"If we're not dead by then, I will!" She smiled, relaxing a little.

Marco grinned, glad things were going well for his best mate.

Skye turned on the last two, who backed away in fear. Skye smiled, his eyes full of mischief. "Now… Which one of you leaves here alive?" he asked ominously, his blades flying to his hands.

"So. What brings you to town?" She brushed her hair out of her face, her cheek still stinging slightly from being slapped so harshly.

"Brings me? I live in this town!" said Marco with a laugh, "Me and Skye used to be inseparable when we were kids, then he left to track down a lead on something important, next thing I knew he'd come back with a kid brother in tow, then he left again, and well… whatever he's been doing out there it's kept him too busy to stay in touch…"

"Hmm. Interesting. I wouldn't know much seeing I literally just met him yesterday."

"You'll get to know him pretty quick!" said Marco with a grin.

"Hopefully." She chuckled, glancing around the room.

Skye had finally taken out the last one, he wasn't dead, but he looked like he was. "Leave! Tell your superiors to leave me and my girl, and my family out of your hunt!" he yelled, watching as the last man fled.

She sighed quietly. "I'm surprised it's taking him this long. He was pretty pissed, I would've thought he'd take them down like it's nothing."

"He's probably trying to scare them enough so they don't come back…." said Marco, "Those lot are pretty persistent…"

"Yeah, I know that feeling." She brushed her hair out of her eyes again.

Skye sighed, binding the rest of the men. Turning to leave he quickly broke into a light, limping run, heading out to Marco's backup hideout.

She drummed her fingers on the floor, lost in thought.

Skye suddenly stumbled into the hideout, grinning as he walked in, trying not to show the limp, his lower leg burning with pain from how he'd landed on it when the one hunter threw him.

She snapped out of her thoughts. "Skye! Are you okay?" She made her way over to him, worry washing over her face.

"Fine…" he said, smiling when he saw her, "I'm fine. They didn't get a chance to hurt me after you were out of the picture."

"Your limp says otherwise." She raised an eyebrow at him.

Skye frowned, "So one of them managed to throw me against a wall…" he shrugged sitting down, "It's still nothing compared to what would've happened if you hadn't taken my amulet with you…"

"Do you want that back, by the way?" She turned the amulet over in her hand a couple times.

"Yeah… that'd be nice.." he said softly.

"Then here." She placed it back in his pocket and kissed his cheek. "Now you relax. You're hurt."

"I told you I'm fine…" he said, slipping it securely around his neck.

She crossed her arms with an unconvinced look. "And I'm not a street rat. What else are we lying about?"

"Certainly not the fact that they'll be staying far away from us for a while."

She smiled a little. "Well that's good to know. But that's only for a while."

"I meant a long while!" Said Skye.
