"well dying is definitely not the intention."
Gwen simply rolled her eyes and slowly started to pull the dagger out. She could still hear Liam and Raven arguing: they were safe for the moment. When she pulled the dagger out with no blood, she put her hand over Ethan's mouth because she didn't want him screaming from the pain. Before any surprise blood could pour from the wound, she slapped her hand over it.
group
He just stared at her.
After about a minute, Gwen took her hand away, revealing a cauterised wound. She ran some water over it with her hands, then stopped. "Do you hear that?" She asked, standing up.
group
"Hear what?"
Gwen started backing away. "Exactly. You can hear anything. What happened to Raven and Liam's arguing?"
group
"I don't know."
Gwen tried to listen. She backed into something, and her breath caught. She was in the same situation as before. Just this time, Ethan was here. "Hello again, Gwendolyn," Liam said, arm pinning Gwen's to her side. With a sword at her throat, he said "Drop it."
group
"Hey Liam my, Pal, Friend, Mate?eh no um DUDE LET MY FIANCE GO."
"Calm down, Ethan," Gwen ordered. "Liam, let me go. I can't help you with anything you want."
"Yes, yes you can. You just don't know it."
group
Ethan just stared confused.
"I have nothing to give you, Liam."
"Yes, you do. Your dead, unbreathing body. At least dead, you won't be alone."
"What do you mean?"
Liam looks at Gwen's necklace. "You'll have Maddie." Gwen said nothing. A single tear fell down her cheek.
group
"Oh you are one messed up dude."
Gwen was silent. It seemed as if nothing existed as memories of Maddie came flooding back: horse riding, archery, sneaking through corridors during parties.
group
"Gwen!" Ethan said as he stood up.
"I'd leave him alone, pretty boy," Raven growled as she materialised from the shadows. She gasped as Ethan grabbed her and held a fired hand at her throat, the flames licking her skin.
group
"Yeah, um don't call me pretty boy."
Gwen suddenly snapped back to reality. "Let her go, Ethan," She heard Liam growl.
group
Ethan did so.
"You want something more from me, don't you Liam?" Gwen said softly. She felt Liam tense. "You don't want me dead. You don't want me heartbroken. You want me." She stared at Ethan with crystal clarity, as if saying Trust me. "If you let me go, you can have me."
group
Ethan nodded understanding exactly what she was doing.
Raven started to protest, but Liam shot her a look. He slowly started to let Gwen go. "Take it off," He said.
group
Ethan watched in silence.
"Take what off?"
"The ring," Liam replied. Gwen reluctantly slipped her engagement ring off her finger and held it in her palm. "Give it to Ethan."
group
Ethan stepped forward and took the ring.
Gwen looked at Ethan as she placed the ring in his hand. There were subtle tears in her eyes but she was remaining strong.
group
Ethan stepped back.
"Now leave," Liam said to Ethan.
group
Ethan glared then nodded slowly and walked away. He hoped she knew what she was doing.
Gwen watched him walk away, then turned to Liam. "You've won."
