Knight chuckles. "At least I know you're alive now."
He lifts Derik up. "C'mon. Let's go."

Knight chuckles. "At least I know you're alive now."
He lifts Derik up. "C'mon. Let's go."
group
Derik pulls away. Or at least…tries to. “Go where?”
group
"Out. To a park. Or a lake. Hijack a fast car or whatever. I don't care. We just need to get you out of this mental state as quick as possible, because I swear I will crack you like a glowstick if you continue to be depressed. Ruins the atmosphere." Knight snorts.
group
Derik huffs a soft laugh, nodding. “Mk…”
group
Knight nods, letting go of Derik.
"You need anything to change into?" he asks.
group
Derik chuckles, “Um- yeah…work scrubs aren’t the best thing to wear…” he mutters. Even if he was joking, he was still quiet.
group
Knight nods.
"Alrighty. Well, first stop is clothes I guess." he shrugs.
He kicks the warehouse door open. Which was terrifying since the heavy bit of machinery he'd put in fron of the door had still been there.
group
Derik jumps, closing his eyes for a moment and taking a deep breath.
group
Knight gestures for Derik to go first.
"After you."
group
Derik sighs, walking outside and looking around.
group
Knight follows after Derik, humming a marching tune as he stares at the air for a moment before shoving hands in his pockets and starting to walk.
group
Derik picks at the bandages on his arms, starting to take them off.
group
Knight turns and sighs at Derik.
"I will put you in a straightjacket if you don't leave those alone."
group
Derik flinches. “Dude…it’s fine.”
group
"No. Just leave them. I know why you want them off." Knight snorts.
group
Derik grumbles. “They just bother me- god-“ he rolls his eyes.
group
"Mm-hmm." Knight grunts.
group
Derik keeps picking at the bandages, slowly feeling overwhelmed by the odd sensation.
group
Knight sighs and stops.
"Fine. I'll get them off myself." he mutters.
group
Derik blinks up at him, “I can take them off-?”
group
"I tied them weirdly. You'd have trouble finding the other end." Knight sighs. He starts to expertly unravel the bandages.
Now that he was up this close - he basically had to kneel to unravel the bandages properly - he could see the multitude of fine white lines crisscrossing Derik's arms.
He pauses and gently shifts Derik so that the light hits his arms better and examines them more carefully before peering at the smaller man.
"There's a lot of scars." he says quietly.
group
Derik stiffens, then huffs. “That’s what happens when you work with heavy machinery.” He grumbles, attempting to pull away.
group
Knight sees immediately through the partial lie and shakes his head ruefully.
"Half of these were made by dull blades, the others look like they're made by other people, and yes, some of them are nicks and cuts from machinery." he sighs. "Look, kid. I should have plenty of my own scars. I shouldn't even be alive. But you've seen what science has done to me. But just because I'm not a normal human doesn't mean I can't recognise pain when I see it."
group
Derik sighs, “Just- drop it.”
group
Knight sighs and drops it - for now.
"First let's get you some new pants, at least. And underwear. And socks." he says pragmatically.
group
Derik nods, “Lead the way, big guy…”
group
Knight nods and starts humming his marching tune again, subcosciously slipping back into the drills he'd been put through, the hours of marching just carrying him.
After a few minutes he spots a store that looks promising. Tricky part is, he doesn't know store names and this one in particular. . . well, it was expensive.
The store he'd found sold several famous brands like Gucci and Versace. In short? Expensive as hell. Not that Knight couldn't afford it.
group
Derik sighs, “Is there like…a Walmart or something around here?”
group
Knight shrugs. "Dunno. But there's a store right there so uh. No point in looking any further. Just grab some stuff and I can pay."
group
Derik scoffs, “I’m not wasting money. I know how to stretch a dollar. Just bring me to a Walmart and possibly a dollar general and I’ll only buy maybe 10 to 15 dollars worth of stuff.”
