"Go ahead," I muttered, raising a hand. "Have fun with that. See you tomorrow."

“Marina…” I halted before going anywhere, staring at her for the moment. “Thanks for helping me out. I uh… I guess I owe you now.”

I paused, looking him up and down. Strange of him to admit that….

"I guess you do," I responded finally. "Good luck with your mother."

“Thanks.” I took a step backwards, trying to force myself too move. I had already started to crave whatever contact we had on the bus. Warmth from the sunlight, half asleep, music playing in the background… I shook my head a little to clear it. “You’re sure you’re good? Walking home and all that?”

My brows drew together in confusion. “…..Yeah, why wouldn’t I be? It’s broad daylight….”

I cleared my throat, looking away. “Just trying to pa6 this little debt I have to you off early.” I insisted, lying through my teeth.

“You seen walking me home is going to get us both killed,” I answered slowly, slipping my phone into my back pocket. “And you need to go charge your phone. Figure something else out.”

“Right… yeah.” I exhaled slowly, pulling my bottom lip between my teeth as I thought, stalling out of reluctance to leave.

I steeled myself against the sudden urge to step towards him and turned away. "See you tomorrow."

“Wait! You should have this. If you think of something. So I can just get this favor over with.” I took a scrap of paper out of my bag, scribbling my number onto it and holding it out.

I stared at the slip of paper for a few seconds before tentatively accepting. "O-Okay. But, uh, I'm not putting down your actual name as a contact so I don't get in trouble. You can be….. Blue Asshole."

I rolled my eyes, biting my lip to hold back a grin. “If you call me blue asshole, you’re just as likely to get caught. Just… my middle name is Antonio. Use that.”

"I…….." The paper disappeared into one of my pockets. "……..Did not need that information. But thanks. I might just name you Asshole, though."

“I have a couple creative names for you too. Gonna have a hard time deciding.” I snarked, taking a step back.

"You fell asleep on my shoulder, Mercutio, I don't think you're in a position to call me names. " I shook my head, turning away to mask my amused smile. "See you tomorrow."

“See you tomorrow.” I echoed, staring after her for a moment, my cheeks flushing pink. All until I remembered I only had ten minutes to get home. I turned and hightailed it down the street, rushing to get to my house as fast as possible.

Marina's POV

I pulled the covers over my head, slipping my phone and a scrap of paper out from behind my back. Once I was satisfied that no one was going to barge in and see me awake, I unlocked my phone and began to enter the number on the note into my contacts list.

MARINA: hey, Asshole. Just texting u so you can save my number

Mercutio’s POV

I sat on my bed, in the middle of idly texting Romeo when a new number popped up on my screen. Marina! I don’t know why I got so excited to be in contact with her, but my gut reaction was to smile.

MERCUTIO: Asshole with a capital A. I feel so loved.

I nearly snorted out loud.

MARINA: You’ve hit rock bottom, haven’t u?

MERCUTIO: This is cyber bullying.

MARINA: Yeah, yeah. What’re u going to enter me as? In your contacts list
