Cas followed him, watching where Ashley put his feet down so he could, quite literally, follow his footsteps.
Looking for a O/O
When the pair reached the center of the house, they found the source of the mess. A youngish guy of about 20 stood in the center of the room, pulling objects towards him with a red magic. He looked like someone who should be doing voodoo in a Disney film. He had slicked-back black hair that almost seemed to fade to blueish green. He wore a newish looking red button-up shirt with a scraggly jacket.
He kept pulling the same stack of black and red tarot cards towards him, shuffling them, drawing one and tutting before throwing the deck to another side of the room where they restacked themselves.
Cas stayed silent, observing the inside of the house carefully. He was tense and on guard right now, not feeling entirely safe here. Something about this place just made him mildly uneasy, and he couldn't quite put his finger on why.
"Dapper!" Ashley said loudly. The guy yelped and everything dropped out of the air. He spun around looking rather annoyed. "Oh! Ashley! What is it this time?" When Ashley offered up the glass ball, Dapper snatched it from him and took it over to a desk to examine. "Who's your friend?" He asked, attempting to make conversation.
"Cas." He replied simply, crossing his arms. His ears swiveled around at every little noise, and his tails kept flicking.
Dapper smirked. "Friend or otherwise?" He joked. Ashley buried his face in his hands.
Cas blushed a bit and looked away. "Friends… we've only just met, anyways."
"Mhm." Dapper sounded unconvinced. "Just tell us about the orb, Dapper." Ashley said, flicking a bead at Dappers head.
Cas nodded in agreement, falling silent.
Dapper held the ball on three finger tips. "It doesn't like Runic. Hmm…" He listed off a few other magics he couldn't pair the orb with.
Ashley sighed in defeat.
Cas watched the process silently, keeping his arms crossed and his eyes fixed on the orb.
"I have one way of finding out but it involves me keeping this for the night." Dapper suggested.
"Well, I don't think we need it for anything, so that's probably fine." Cas shrugged, looking over at Ashley for his opinion.
"Yeah. That's fine Dapper, just don't break it." Ashley swallowed. Dapper winked "Don't tempt me."
Cas shrugged. "Well, should we go, then?"
"Yeah. Look after that Dapper." Ashley said, starting to lead Cas back to the exit. Dapper gave a weird little salute as they left.
"Strange man…" Cas said quietly once they were outside, looking back at the house.
"Yeah… People think he's crazy. He's really smart, just probably not quite as sane as us." Ashley said. "What now?"
Cas shrugged. "We wait, I guess. What we do while we're waiting, I'm not sure."
"That's what I meant, while we're waiting." Ashley shuffled his feet. "What kind of things do you like to do?"
"Um… I like walking in the forest when I'm not busy risking my life." He shrugged again.
"Makes sense." Ashley nodded. "We could do that if you wanted?"
"Sure, if you're interested in that kind of thing…" Cas looked away, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
Ashley shrugged. "I haven't gone for a walk in ages, might make a nice change."
Cas nodded a bit and started walking. "Let's go, then."
Ashley followed him "I don't know where any walks are. You can lead this time."
"Alright." Cas led the way to a nice park and went into the woods.
"This is nice." Ashley said genuinly and looked around
"Mhmm." Cas led Ashley along the path, his ears swiveling around constantly to pick up every little sound.
