Caspian shook his head. "It's fine…" He said quietly. "Besides…what I prefer to do could be considered…odd."

"Well I like odd," Tyler said, smiling softly. "My sister's quite odd. She can control land matter, like what's found on the surface. But we don't have any of that down here, so it's a useless power."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian snorted. "Ah. I prefer to learn new spells. I guess." He shrugged.

"That's….interesting? I normally just swim. I know everyone else does it, but I'm fast. I cover ground. I see things that no one else would see."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian nodded. "I see." He said. He sighed softly as they came out of the abyss, releasing the spell.

"So, um…where are we gonna go now? We still have a full day ahead of us."

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Im going home. I have something I need to do. You can come with me, if you want to." Caspian replied.

"Of course I'm coming with you: you said I could spend the whole day with you. I'm not giving that up now."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian sighed. "Fine." He headed towards his home, silver tail flashing. The scars on it were obvious.

Tyler spotted the scars on Caspian's tail, but he ignored them. He felt like it would be too invasive if he asked.

@ElderGod-Icefire

They arrived at his house, and Caspian undid the spell holding the door shut, going in.

Tyler followed in shortly after, waiting for Caspian to close the door behind him.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian closed the door. The house was lit with lanterns hung from the rafters, the light they gave off having a slightly blue tint. It was a cozy little place, neat and organized.

Tyler looked around in awe. "This place is so awesome," He said, his voice barely above a whisper. His eyes sparkled, reflecting the light of the lanterns.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian shrugged. "Thanks." He said with a small smile. He took off his belt, setting it down along with his sword.

"No, I mean it. It's beautiful. Remind me to take you to my secret crib."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian glanced at him. Why are you being so friendly? What do you want from me? He wanted to ask. But he didn't. He just nodded.

Tyler sat down on the sandy floor, pulling his tail into him. His eyes continued to sparkle as the lanterns reflected off them.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian continued putting things away, putting a new spell book on the shelf with the others, humming softly.

"Do you spend a lot of time here?" Tyler asked after a while of silence.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian nodded. "Yes." He replied, grabbing a book and flipping through it. He set it on the counter.

"It really is beautiful. Did you get a lot of these things from the surface?" He paused for a few seconds. "Cause I don't remember these lanterns being from the kingdom."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian dipped his head in a nod. "Yes. I collected them from shipwrecks, repaired them. Then filled them with a luminescent substance from deep sea fishes, enchanted to never stop glowing unless I tell it to." He described, flicking through the book and getting supplies out.

"That's legit cool, dude," Tyler smiled. "I never would have thought to do that. I'm much too uncreative."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian glanced up with a small smile. "Thank you." He said quietly, then went back to getting things out. In truth, the shark feeding earlier had spooked him. He hated sharks. But someone had to take care of them so they didn't eat the locals.

"Why do you feed the sharks? You seem kinda scared of them," Tyler said softly, gathering information from the other merman's body language.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian's eyes flickered, and he didn't turn around. "Because if i don't feed them, they leave the abyss and start eating the locals instead." He replied. "Which is worse." His tail flicked slightly as he swam over to a small, separate room, coming back with some containers filled with various things.

"So you're the person who stopped the shark attacks…." Tyler then had a thought. "Why do people think you're evil then?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

Caspian glanced at him. "Because. I'm a spell caster. I can use dark magic. Blood magic. They don't like that." He shrugged, turning back to what he was doing.

"But it's not that bad, is it?" Tyler asked. "If it doesn't hurt anyone in the kingdom, why does it matter? It's not hurting anyone."
