Autumn smiled at their surroundings. Alex had taken her to a nice restaurant, though she was clueless as to why. Maybe it had something to do with why he looked a little nervous. But why would he need to be nervous? They were just on a nice date…
Alex had booked a nice booth near the sparkling city lights overlooked by wide windows. The restaurant was dimly lit with gently flickering candles at each table and a large, warm fireplace in the middle. The pair were sat down at their booth, and given menus. The greeter wished them a nice night and promised them a waiter would come to assist them soon.

"You have really outdone yourself tonight, babe. This is an amazing table," Autumn mused softly as she turned to look at him.

Alex smiled warmly when she turned to look at him. His stomach was tied up but hell, he loved to smile and receive one back from her.

"Oh, all right… I suppose I can be patient for one night," Autumn joked with a smile as her eyes flicked over the dishes. She hummed as she read everything, trying to find something good. "Oh, the steak looks good…"

Alex tapped his fingers on the table as he held the menu up with a hand. “Mhm. The steak looks wonderful. Have you seen the little bites for the appetizer?”

"Should we get an appetizer?" Autumn asked, looking across at Alex. "I wouldn't know what to get. Everything looks good."

Alex nodded earnestly. He felt so nervously hungry he could eat a whole giraffe. “Yes. Let’s get the steake bites, then we can settle on a main course.”

(Lol. There's a running joke in my church that giraffes aren't real. A lady convinced her very young – at the time – nieces that they weren't, and now we make fun of it a lot.)
"Hm, okay… That looks really good, actually," Autumn hummed as she read it over. "And… I'll probably just get a water or something…"

Autumn clicked her tongue and glanced over the selection. She didn't normally drink, but she would on special occasions. Seeing as there was some surprise Alex wasn't telling her about, she figured it may as well be a special enough occasion for a glass of wine.
"I suppose that would be good, actually. What about you?" Autumn asked, looking up at Alex.

Alex grinned brightly and nodded. “Womderful! Then we’ll order a whole glass of wine and hope we don’t go through the whole thing.” He laughed lightly.
