(Lol. It's fine. I was at work.)
(Okay I’m at home now)
Alex sat up against a pole, smiling into his phone. He had earbuds in, and was watching a particularly amusing sit-com. He glanced up at a clock. It was 1:58. Almost time for Autumn to arrive at the airport, at two. He scrambled up with his things and to the door where she’d be entering through from the plane, prickling with excitement.
Autumn had just gotten through customs and was now walking toward the door, a suitcase in each hand. She had no idea Alex was there, and she didn't expect to see him until later in the day at the earliest.
Her pink hair was slightly ruffled, and there were faint dark spots under her eyes, giving her a somewhat exhausted look. She was mostly just tired because of work, but there had been a loud kid on the plane, causing her to stay awake the whole flight. Now, she was trying to get home as soon as possible in order to take a quick nap, and maybe she would get some dinner, too.
Alex spotted her a couple feet away and grinned. He made a tiny beeline for her, trying to look as casual as possible. He bobbed up behind him, grinning, yet unsure what to do. A plan suddenly popped up in his head. He brushed past her, not hard enough to knock anything out of her hands, just to awake her of him there and perhaps irritate her a little. He didn’t look back, just waited till she mentioned it.
"Woah, hey!" Autumn exclaimed when someone brushed past her. She peered at his very familiar figure for a moment before gasping and hurrying to catch up to him. "Alex! What are you doing here?"
Alex glanced down at her with a grin. “I know not of this ‘Alex’ fellow. He sounds very charming and handsome, though.” He chuckled happily and looked back up.
"Handsome, yes. Charming… That's debatable," Autumn teased, rolling her eyes.
Alex smiled and nudged her. “I guess you saw through my amazingly planned disguise—“ He gestured to his normal clothing style— “and figured out it is indeed me, your handsome boyfriend.”
Autumn snorted and nudged him back before she stopped walking. Dropping her bags, she held her arms out to Alex. "Can you stop having such a big ego and say hi?"
Alex plopped his stuff down and picked her up a little in a bear hug. He pressed their lips together in a kiss, shutting his eyes happily.
Autumn laughed against his lips for a moment before kissing him back. She let her eyes fall shut as she wrapped her arms around him, very glad he had surprised her even though she was tired.
Alex set her down and pulled away. “Alright, love. Let’s get you home. You look exhausted.” He rubbed her shoulders and picked up their bags.
"I am pretty tired," Autumn sighed. "Thank you for surprising me."
Alex smiled and nudged her forward gently. “Now we get to ride in my comfy car!” He kissed her and started walking.
Autumn chuckled and followed after him. "You don't have to take my bags. I can take at least one of them…"
Alex blew a raspberry. “You’re gonna deal with me carrying your stuff and like it.”
"All right. I'm actually okay with that," Autumn said with a shrug, smiling over at him for a moment before turning her attention back to walking.
Alex smiled back happily and walked in-step with her. “Are you doing okay otherwise? Movie go okay?”
"I'm good, yeah. And the movie actually went great," Autumn said, grinning as they walked. "Hey, I get a plus-one to see it when they've finished editing it, do you want to come with me?"
Alex beamed and looked at her, suddenly bouncing on his feet. “Of course I do!”
"Awesome! I'm not sure when they'll finish, but it should be in a few months, max," Autumn chuckled. "I'm excited to see it, actually."
Alex continued bouncing happily on his way out of the airport. “I can’t wait to see it anyway.”
"I told you what it's about, right?" Autumn asked, glancing over at him.
Alex grinned at her. “You’re in it?” If she told him, he didn’t remember.
"Of course I'm in it," Autumn chuckled. "It's based off of the book The Princess's Escape, which is about a princess – obviously – who has to escape a bunch of trials and such to get back home. It's much more interesting than it sounds, I promise."
Alex grinned. “That sounds awesome. I should give the book a few reads.” He nudged into her again. “Just to see how accurate you got it.”
