"Come with me? I have an extra room you can sleep in. Plus I need to log the Contract," Zack mumbed, sticking his hands in his pockets. He sighed lowly and glanced back at her.
"You don't have to, though."
o/o Demon’s Contract
"I'd love to!" Edith pounced on the opportunity. She quickly ran back and fell into step behind him. She made sure not to stray too close to him, as to keep his personal space. Reaching behind her, she fixed her hair up into a messy bun. This is the best I can do for now. Edith would neaten it later.
"Alright, my car's just up here. I live across campus, so it'll be a few minute drive." He took his car keys from his pocket and pressed a button, and an old, black car beeped from their right. He trotted down into the driver's seat with a sigh.
Edith nodded obediently. She followed him to a slightly banged up black car, glee bubbling up inside her.
"I claim shotgun!" She said to nobody in general. Opening the car door, she slipped inside gracefully and fastened her seatbelt.
She giggled. Believe it or not, this was her first time riding shotgun. When her mother still drove her places, she was always assigned to the back because her annoying older brother claimed it every. single. time.
Edith patted her seat, and then sat quietly.
"I hope I'm not disturbing you too much." She said.
Zack plopped down in the car, taking off his coat and stretching out his legs before buckling in and starting the car. He ignored her patting, and just her in general, and pulled out of the parking space.
"You're not. So, the room of question you'll be sleeping in isn't all done up yet, so you'll have to let me set it up first. I wasn't expecting a guest." He laughed softly. He was kind of tired, so that's quite the reason why he wasn't talking much. Plus, he wasn't a big talking person to begin with.
Turning toward him, Edith sighed in gratitude.
"You can't imagine how life-saving you are right now. Thanks." She shook her head.
"With testing coming up soon, I'd be better off dead then find somewhere else to sleep for the night." If she tried by herself, she would have never been able to get over the gate, much less find time to sleep after that.
Edith grimaced when the headlights of the car flashed. Her sensitive eyes screamed in pain, and she ducked and covered her pupils with her palms as the car jerked forward out of the parking lot.
Zack paused by gently pushing at the break rather than slamming on it (like he wanted) when she screamed.
"What in Hell's wide Earth are you screamingg about?" He asked, already looking exasperated and rather shaken up.
(The part that said, "Her sensitive eyes screamed in pain," meant that her eyes hurt ;w;)
(Ye I know lol)
(Wait then why did you write it as if she literally screamed? Im so confused ajfoipwehgpoh)
(oh)
(Spring break starts for me, will come back after a week :0 )
(Okkkkk)
(Alright, I'm back so I guess I'll just resume this from the last reply!)
Edith grimaced.
"S-sorry. You can continue now." She looked out the tinted car window into the dark night.
(Yay Hi!)
Zack nodded a little and continued with a sigh. "I'm not going too fast, am I?" He asked, glancing at her as he slowly turned towards the larger dorms.
(Shoot! I thought I replied already, wth am I doinggg)
Edith shook her head quickly.
"No, it's fine." They started toward the larger dorms. Edith leaned closer to the window.
"So you live here, right?" She said.
(Tiisss ok)
Zack pulled in neatly in front of a dorm that looked similar to a huge townhouse. "Yep. I live here. I live on the second floor, alone." He stood out of the car and shut the door, starting to walk up.
"That's.. Interesting." Edith followed him out of the vehicle, staying close behind him. She pulled her crimson jacket closer to her chest, shivering. The cool air blew her hair astray, and she didn't bother fixing it.
Zack opened the front pair of doors, curving into a flight of steps and ignoring a cry of "Hey!" from the first-floor inhabitant. The voice was a girl's, so no wonder Zack was fleeing it. Soon the pair made it to Zack's neat dorm, where he invited her into an empty room.
When Zack opened the painted white door, a woman called out to them. Zack ignored her, so Edith nodded shyly to her and walked up the steps. She was invited into an empty room in a rather tidy dorm. She looked around curiously, her eyes roving the dorm.
Zack shuffled across his dorm to a second door next to a third, almost down a hall and next to a kitchen.
"Here's your room," He said, opening the door to his immediate left.
"Oh, do you want me to make anything? You probably didn't make dinner yet thanks to me." Edith said casually. She glanced at the kitchen.
"Thanks for letting me stay." She said for the thousandth time. She headed toward the room she was introduced to.
Zack trotted away into the kitchen. "No, I already have something I want to eat." He opened his fridge and pulled out a take-out box, grinning. It was a winderful take-out from a barbecue place. Thinking of his made his chops water.
"Hm, alright then. I'll just, hang out in my room. You can just ask if you need anything?" Edith said, realizing that it ended in a question. Wait. wasn't he supposed to say this part? Oops. She thought, hastily backing away into the spare room.
It was bare, housing only a bed and a small desk, with a lamp turned off sitting utop it. She collapsed on the bed, exhaling deeply. She wanted to go out and talk to him again, but she couldn't find any reason to. She stared up at the ceiling, counting the seconds in her mind.
Zack shrugged and plopped the rack on an oven tray, humming hungrily, turning on the oven and rubbing his hands. He had to wait around for the oven to preheat, but he knew it'd be worth it. As he waited he respiced the ribs with the saice that he took from the restaurant. It would be wonderful…
(Stahppp your making me hungry XD
Anyway, time skip? Or does something happen rn)
(xD No not really. Do you want to time skip to when he finishes eating? She might work up the courage to talk to him?)
Edith rolled around lazily, enjoying the cool bedsheets against her cheek. Sighing, she sniffed the air. A hint of ribs tickled her nostril, and she rolled over into a pillow. She felt hot and sticky and dirty. Where was the shower here? Edith walked out of the room, looking for Zack.
"Zack? Are you fine with me using the bathroom? I want to take a shower." She called toward the kitchen.
Zack was enjoying his ribs, which had been cooked finely to his taste. A little burnt so it was not so tight on the bone and the sauce could seep into the meat.
"Mmm? Mhm," He hummed pointing with his elbow at a door next to his room.
(Whoops she didn't lock the door XD)
"Thanks." Edith said, opening the door and stepping inside. Hopefully the shower would clear her mind. She closed the door and stripped off her clothes, simultaneously opening the water and closing the shower curtain.
After she finished washing, she just stood there, letting the water beat down on her skin. She let herself have another moment of peace, and climbed out, wrapping herself with a towel. By now Zack should be done eating. Maybe I should try talking to him again? Edith thought.
