“You’re so much better than all the other gods. You can speak poetically when you want, you do your job rightfully and respectfully. No one can match how . . . Amazing you are,” She said, nearly laughing at herself for saying those things aloud.
One-On-One (OPEN)
(Quick question: do you want a confession quickly, or do you want it to drag on back and forth for a reasonable amount of time, like a couple of days within the timeline of the rp, or what? I just don’t want to mess it up and be like lol I love u and you be like wtf not yet. So just let me know i’ll do it)
(How about a very hesitant kind of, highly confusing confession and then stuff . . . .?)
(How about a very hesitant kind of, highly confusing confession and then stuff . . . .?)
(So like a confession that is confusing and ambiguous and could be taken in another way?)
(Yes, pretty much)
(Ah, okay)
“You’re so much better than all the other gods. You can speak poetically when you want, you do your job rightfully and respectfully. No one can match how . . . Amazing you are,” She said, nearly laughing at herself for saying those things aloud.
Death was startled, for lack of a better term. His heart raced. He panicked, “Oh, um, thank you. That means so very much to me. I, um…” Death breathed again, calming himself,
“I think that you are far more amazing than I could ever be. You create, and I destroy. You are Life and I am Death. We oppose each other at every turn, and I have never been saddened more by anything in my exsistence. I wish for nothing except for time with you.”
(Oh my gosh. What have you done?? I legitimately started crying)
She sat up quickly, her lips parting in surprise. “Death . . . Why didn’t you tell me?” Her eyes now glistening as tears formed in her eyes. “I thought . . .” She dropped her head.
(Ah I’m sorry I ran into a similar situation and this is about what it was like for me so I’m just using all that as inspo)
~
Death was afraid. What had he done?
“No, I apologize. Please do not cry….I just—“ He dipped his head down to meet her eyes, bringing her head up with the motion of his own, “I apologize if I did something wrong. I did not mean to upset you, in any way.” His eyes were open wide in an effort to make Life believe him.
He knew better than to open his mouth. He would never make the mistake again. He just wanted to make everything okay, to repair what he had damaged and continue as if nothing had happen. Besides, centuries from now, this would be just a little mishap and nothing more and all would be right and safe and good.
(You’re passing this off like it’s just your writing and using your knowledge to write and I’m over here clenching my fists and crying and loving this way too much. Thank you.)
“You don’t need to apologize Death . . .” She looked at his eyes, seeing regret and sadness. She hugged him again, having nothing else to hold onto. “I thought . . .” She continued from before in a whisper. “I thought everyone just took me for granted. That I would just be here and have the same kind of day, over and over. That everyone would just acknowledge me and . . . I don’t know . . .” Her voice faded as she tried to stop crying. No one was supposed to care right? She was a goddess, just here to keep the universe in check.
(Aw! That’s so sweet! I’m really proud of what I’m writing here, so I’m glad it’s good, at least.)
~
His heart clenched in sympathy. “Life,” he whispered, as he held on a little tighter, “I am so sorry that you feel this way. I wish I could have helped you sooner. To me, you are more than the Earth’s keeper. You are the most beautiful force in the universe. You are a light in the darkness.” He paused, still unsure, but continued anyway, “You are the light in my darkness. I look for you, just to see you, in my time of need. You need do nothing for me but exsist and you bring me peace, and hope, and happiness. I would trade anything and everything for you in a moment, for with you, I do not merely exsist, but I truely live.”
(Oh frick, the moment I start reading my playlist started the saddest song on there.)
She held him even tighter. “See what I mean,” She said, nearly smiling. “You can speak poetically and fill your words with emotion, weaving each sentence carefully. Only saying what you mean-“ Her voice broke. “Death, You. You are not all darkness . . . Without you, the world could not sustain its self. The universe could not exist without you. And my words cannot be compared to yours, not such detailed pieces of myself like yours . . .”
(I’m wheezing omg my heart)
~
Death sighed, “I am merely a necessity to bring balance. My job is difficult for one reason: I have to take away what you have put in place. I create the darkness around myself, and it may never go away. In the night, I am safe, but in the day, I am happy. Which will have domain?” He shrugged, “I may never know, and I am okay with this. I have something—someone—to keep me going.” He looked Life in her beautiful crystal eyes as he said this, trying to show that she was his someone, she was his Life.
(Oh frick, oh frick, oh frick . . . Oh my gocheu my hearteu. Holy frick)
She inhaled sharply as the realization settled upon her. Then she slowly breathed out. She forced herself to look straight at Death’s eyes. She puffed up her cheeks. “Blup,” She laughed. “I don’t wike dis sad dwamatic topic,” She said in a childish voice. “We need to be . . . Happy,” She closed her eyes and swayed her head side to side as she said happy.
(Is this a ritual)
~
Death was confused. He didn’t know what had just happened, but he kept quiet. Only moments before, Life was crying in his arms, and now she was swaying back and forth saying ‘Happy’. He thought she might be summoning something.
(Ummm . . . No . . . ?)
Life was Life. As ironic as that sounded, it was obviously true, one moment you could be sad and the next happy. She blinked her eyes open, then laughed even more at Deaths confusion. “In what I am going to say, there will be too much irony in it. But, nevertheless, I’m Life. One moment sad, happy the next. Always unexpected and confusing, or maybe sometimes something goes right with me.”
(Oh my god it’s perfect because Death is usually sad but sometimes it’s just a little happy, or bittersweet.)
~
Death luffed, a breathy sort of quick laugh. “Indeed, you are. An enigma in the most promising sense of the word. Always the life of the party.” He smiled, fully intending his awfully prominent pun.
She looked away out to the sky. The sun now gone from it, it glittering in a new way. “No matter what time of day it is, or night I guess. The sky will always stay beautiful,” Life sighed in contentment. “I think we should write a poem together.” She thought aloud. A thought that had been wandering her mind, now spoken.
Death fought the small blush coming to his otherwise pale face. “I would love that,” he answered softly, almost like it was a statement he wanted the wind to steal away.
“Great! We just need the right time and resources and no interruption or meetings . . .” She trailed off in thought. “Wait a moment, Is the meeting today? Or tomorrow?”
Death stopped dead. “I want to say it is…tomorrow? But now that I say that out loud I have a suspicion that it is probably today.”
“Well then . . . I should probably check my calendar if I even put the meeting in there . . .” She says then pulls out a bag she had left under the bench. She takes out her cat covered notebook and flips to the back. “Meeting, meeting, meeting . . . It is today . . . And it starts in 5 minutes!”
“We should probably get moving, then. We have to hurry.” Death jumped up, fidgeting, “Oh dear, we are going to be late.” Death hated being late. He tried, most likely unsuccessfully, to hide his nervousness.
(Sorry I disappeared for a bit)
She laughed and slung the bag over her shoulder as she stood. “Let’s hope it will just be a meeting and not the Scales.” She pulled out her hair from under the strap of the bag and smoothed it out with her hand.
(It’s totally good!)
~
Death grabbed his coat. He shared Life’s hope that it would remain a simple meeting and not the Scales, but deep down there was a furious doubt in his gut, that they would taste displeasure at this meeting. Death, looking at Life, he whispered so quietly only the wind could hear, and carry it far away, “I love you.”
Then, at natural volume he asked if she was ready to go.
“Uh . . .” She had seen Deaths lips move before he had spoken at a regular volume. She was not a great lip reader but she was pretty sure if had to do with her. She shook her head, bringing her out of her thoughts. “Yep, let’s go. We have about 3 minutes now.”
(Can we do a little jump to the meeting?)
(Of course)
(Okay lol I just couldn’t figure out how to write him going with her and blah blah blah)
(Imma revive this, also I have lunch rn so yeah)
Thankfully, thankfully they had made it in time. A god, the god of war, tapped his foot impaitently. “Took you guys long enough.” Life heard him mutter. “We got here just in time, War,” She said. A tender hand clasped onto her left shoulder. She turned to see her great friend, Love. A solemn expression was set on her face, “We went to the grove, the Scales have been tipped.”
