Eden jumped back as the wall crumbled, a defensive reflex to the sudden sound of crashing and destruction. Her eyes grew wide as she stared at the mech. How–? Her gaze shot up, locking on Kaz– who looked nothing like she'd seen him before. She'd heard his ungodly yell seconds before, but she didn't know what to think of it until she saw the pure anguish and rage written all over him. It took her a moment to realize the cause, to notice that Curtis wasn't standing anywhere nearby.
"Look what you've done," she said, almost somberly, to the other scientists around her, unable to take her eyes off of Kaz. She'd never seen him like this– she never would've imagined he'd… care so much about anyone. Her heart broke for him, right then and there, and she realized that this man was not the Kaz she'd known before.

This one had a heart.

Kaz stepped over the broken robot with murder in his eyes, slowly approaching the first scientist he saw. Pudge.

"You," he growled, his hands reaching out again. "Killed. Him."

With the blood that covered his torso and the expression on his face, it was understandable that all of them scattered in the opposite direction of Kaz. All except for one.

"Stand down, Subject!" Pudge ordered, pointing a fat finger at Kaz. "That is an order!"

Order or not, Kaz didn't listen. With a snarl, his hand snapped out even father and wrapped around the man's neck, lifting him from the seat and holding him into the air.

"YOU KILLED HIM!" Kaz screamed again, his grip slowly tightening around Pudge's windpipe.

Okay, so, I have this… random, kinda evil idea, and if you want to reject it, that's totally fine. I promise I won't mind if you say ^{nah let's not}

So the idea is this: Kaz continues his rage for however long you like, releasing his fury by strangling scientists while I happily watch with amusement and Eden is momentarily torn between how to react. Lots of intensity continues, because it's dope. Maybe Kaz kills this entire team of scientists, and then Eden convinces him that they need to leave, and then once they're away from the threat of the lab, she comforts him and we have characters growth and it's great. We can work on building up more towards the potential love interest thing. >:3
And then– this is the iffy part, and you can say no– a little bit of time passes with them just doing whatever (we'll come up with some more adventures and troubles for them to get themselves sucked into). But what if, because the remaining scientists are so angry with Kaz, and they want him dead, they actually manage to revive Curtis– although, obviously, he's not his former self– and essentially brainwash him, maybe experiment on him a little– you know, screw him up real bad– and then send him to kill Kaz.
Obviously he can't ever kill Kaz, no matter what they do to him, and they know that. But they do it because they absolutely loathe Kaz now (he was an object to them before; they were indifferent. Now he's an enemy; they hate) and they know that an insane and violent Curtis (who will probably be brainwashed to blame Kaz and maybe even accuse him of intentionally trying to get him killed idk) will cause him a great deal of stress. They hope for bonus points if Kaz has to end up killing Curtis (maybe Kaz even tries to help him but Curt is essentially a rabid man at this point so nothing can be done, because he's not really alive like he was before).
Another idea is that, instead of reviving the actual Curtis, they essentially clone him, torture/brainwash the clone, and do the same thing by sending it after Kaz.

This was kinda totally random, and I know it might kinda suck idk, so if you don't want to do this, that's absolutely fine, because I'm just trying to come up with ideas for extra stress on our characters. XD We can always come up with better ideas if this one doesn't appeal to you. ^u^

Eden stepped back, her eyes wide as she watched Kaz begin choking the life out of Pudge. She'd never seen Kaz like this before in her life. He'd always been a killer, always been a weapon, but today he was out for blood and it wasn't just for fun or because that's what he was made to do. He looked like something straight from a horror movie, smeared with blood, eyes reddened– but he wasn't a monster.
How could he be so moved by the death of someone he'd only known for a day? Kaz didn't care for anyone– much less some near-stranger who he'd happened across just a few hours prior.
But this Kaz was different. This Kaz did care. This Kaz was… human.
Eden had always told herself that Kaz's fate wasn't her responsibility, that she really didn't care what happened to him, but it was a lie– moreso now than ever.
But– oh, geez– all of this thinking and she nearly forgot what was happening right in front of her. Kaz strangling Pudge. Should she try to stop him? It would be useless; after all, Kaz seems to be a ball of sheer power and fury at this point. He'd probably turn and attack her.
It's her fault he's in this mess. She brought him here. He trusted her.
What have I done?

For a few moments, Kaz was perfectly content with choking the life out of the scientist. Staring into the bulging eyes of the fat man that gave out the order for his friend to die as he suffocated? He couldn't think of a better activity. In fact, he looked across the crowd of scared faces, searching for his next victim. The skinny blonde? No. The short red-head? No.

Then his eyes fell on Eden.

She looked…horrified. Like she was scared for her life. Like she was staring at a monster.

What am I doing?

With a sharp intake of breath, Kaz dropped the scientist on to the floor, staring down as the small man squirmed and gasped for air like a fish on land. So helpless. Because of Kaz. He was being exactly what they wanted him to be. A weapon that always saw red. That could be bent and molded into whatever they wanted him to be.

"I'm…..sorry," Kaz whispered, frozen in place for a few moments before turning around and bolting out of the hole he created. His footprints left bloody stamps on the floor.

Eden herself remained frozen for several long seconds as she watched Kaz flee the scene, leaving the rotund scientist that he'd been assaulting to flop on the floor. A few of the other scientists rushed to Pudge's side once Kaz was no longer in the immediate proximity– though whether or not Pudge's life was salvageable, Eden didn't notice.
"Go after him!" one hissed at Eden, snapping her from her daze.
She shook her head, regaining focus. Oh– right. She had to go after him. He was unstable, and he couldn't be left unsupervised. She needed to stop him.

"Kaz!" She raced towards the hole where he'd exited– though, he was undoubtedly faster than her. She'd never catch him. She'd have to track him using the chip implanted in his head. She stopped short, glancing down at one of the bloodied footprints.
She had never seen Kaz like this before in her life– and she wasn't sure how she felt about it, either. Concerned? Intrigued, even? Her immediate feeling, whether she showed it or not, was at least a twinge of sorrow. Sympathy.
She had never imagined that Kaz could care about another human life.
She sucked in a breath, pulling out the tracker and activating it. Forget going after a vehicle– she'd pursue him on foot. She had to catch up to him.
And not just because that's what they told her to do.

He made it to the garage before his stomach started churning. The only thing flashing through his mind was Curtis laying on the floor, riddled with bullet holes and his chest struggling to rise and fall. He was still covered with his blood. He could still taste the copper flavor in his mouth. God, did he swallow some? No, no, no, no-

Kaz couldn't hold it in anymore. He put a hand out to lean against one of the armored vehicles and leaned his head down as the contents of his stomach made a reappearance. The acid stung the back of his throat so violently it brought tears to his eyes as he spat out what was left and gasped for breath. Light footsteps approached him from his left side, and a quick glance revealed Eden's concerned face about half-way down the hall.

"What do you want?" Kaz asked, his voice low and scratchy from the amount of screaming he had done.

Eden fumbled through her own mind for the right words to say. "Kaz–" Where should she even begin? So much had happened. Part of it was her fault, even if she hadn't necessarily planned on it or even agreed to it. "I'm so sorry about your friend–" Truth be told, she didn't like Curtis all that much– but Kaz's reaction to it hit her deep. Maybe she was a monster, too. "I didn't know– I didn't know they would kill him. Honest to God, I didn't."
She knew what they'd do to Kaz now, too. Whether the scientist Kaz attacked lived or died, Kaz would be labelled a rogue. They wouldn't just kill him. They'd torture him, break him if possible, and then find a way to kill him.
He may have been indestructible, but even the most indestructible man could be destroyed.
And Eden wanted no part on that.
Before, it would've never bothered her. Kaz didn't seem human back then. He was just another subject, with no regard for life, no morals, no true emotions. But he was human now, no matter how powerful.
She took a few steps closer– though, still warily. She hadn't forgot his violent outburst just minutes before. "You have to get out of here. After that little episode– I don't know what they'll do to you."

Kaz wiped his mouth and let out a low cough, the acid still digging into the back of his throat with vigor. She wasn't wrong. It wouldn't take them long to recover and send another five or six mechs after him. And maybe Eden too. Anyone connected with him. Kaz straightened up and ran a hand through his hair, frowning as his fingers went through the dried blood that stuck in his hair.

"You should come with," he mumbled, turning to the car he was leaning against and studying it for a moment. He was a superhero, right? Well…..Kaz punched into the window as hard as he could, his fist punching through the bulletproof glass like it was cardboard. After a few moments of feeling around, he unlocked the door and pulled it open. "They might kill you, too." Please, say yes. I have too much blood on my hands already.

Eden was taken aback. She was the on who brought Kaz here in the first place. She was at least partially to blame for Curtis's unnecessarily brutal demise, wasn't she?
And yet… Kaz still wanted her to come with him?
She drew in a long breath and exhaled slowly. She was aware that she'd already endangered both her position and her life by simply warning him to leave. It wasn't like they couldn't hear her. There were cameras everywhere in this blasted place.
It seemed that both of her choices were incredibly risky. One involved almost guaranteed death– or at least some sort of ungodly punishment– and the other… well, there was no way to anticipate what the other involved.
There wasn't a lot of time to waste thinking about it, either. This morning, she wouldn't have considered ditching her position and security here for someone as reckless as Kaz. But– but that was earlier. A lot could change in a few hours.
Kaz included.
"You have a fair point." Eden walked briskly over to the vehicle where Kaz was. "But– are you sure you want me to come along after– what happened?" Of course, she wanted him to say yes, especially considering her alternative, but she felt the need to clarify. Maybe for her own conscience's sake.

Her question caused him to pause slightly. He was in shock and his mind wasn't in the best place. She brought him to the worst possible place he could've went to and caused his friend to be killed. He had every reason to reach through the hole in the window and break Eden's neck.

But she wasn't at fault for anything that happened.

Kaz could've said no and nothing could've stopped him. Just drag Curtis out of harms way and keep running until they were safe. Everything could've been stopped if Kaz just said no.

"Yes, I'm sure." His voice was flat and lifeless as he pulled the keys off of the dash and jammed them into the ignition. "Please, get in. We probably don't have much time left."
