Lucas looked away and closed his eyes when prompted. "Y-Yeah, but… I… I really don't think I'm in any state to be there… as soon as I got there, I had to go to the nurse to curl up in the corner. When I went to class, I was really anxious and I couldn't focus at all."

"All done, well just don't get found out because I won't tell," she winked before walking to the door. Nick's hand twitched although he was still in a coma.

Lucas nodded and thanked her, his eyes drawn to Nick's hand when it moved. He held tighter to it and sighed softly.

"If anything happens just press the nurse button," she smiled before leaving and Nick came back in the room.
"I bought something for you in case you wanted some," he smiled.

"Thanks, Jake…" Lucas murmured, running his thumb gently over the back of Nick's hand. "The nurse isn't going to tell on us."

"Well, that's good," he started to eat the food he got. "How long is he going to be in this coma?"

"Few weeks, I think…" Lucas tapped one foot anxiously on the frame of the cot. "Though hopefully sooner."

"You miss him a lot. I can tell he meant everything to you," Jack smiled for a moment. "Well, I think you should eat something." he handed Lucas the bag of fries he got.

Lucas shook his head a bit. "Not hungry…" He murmured, though his quietly grumbling stomach suggested otherwise.

"Yes, you are. Now eat! Before I have to force feed you," he joked, eating his food.

"You wouldn't do that." Lucas argued, though he sounded skeptical. "And you can't make me."

"Oh yeah! Wanna test that theory?" Jack chuckled and walked over to Lucas's side. He held Lucas's jaw gently, made him chew a fri and then swallow it. "See! Easy."

Lucas turned his head away, looking annoyed. "You know, I could make myself throw up just to spite you."

"Please don't. Nick would kill me if I let you do that," he begged clapping his hands together.

"Then don't force me to eat when I don't want to." He said simply. "You're not a doctor. You don't have the authority to make me do anything."

"But you have to! Even your stomach agrees with me. It's growling like crazy. Listen, Nick would pound me into the ground when he woke up and found out that you didn't eat for two weeks. Then he would get on your ass about it. Unless you don't want to avoid that then I suggest you eat." Jack explained.

Lucas huffed and hugged his stomach tightly to try and shut it up. "I may eat, may not, but I'd prefer to do it of my own accord."

“As long as you eat.” Jack sighed and touched Nick’s arm, rubbing it lightly.

Lucas watched him closely as though he expected him to try something. Since Nick wasn't awake to be protective of Lucas, Lucas was now very protective of Nick.

Jack stood up and hugged Nick as his hand twitched. “I miss you man. You’re so stupid!” Jack sniffled.

Lucas clung tighter to Nick's hand, still eyeing Jake distrustfully. Is this what friends are like? He wondered. Jake seemed a little too close to Nick in his mind.

Jake pulled away and whipped his eyes. “Sorry, I’m breaking down seeing him like this,” he touched Nick cheek and smiled softly.

Lucas nodded stiffly, not liking the way Jake was touching Nick. He almost wanted to step in, but he didn't want to be rude.

“Okay, ummm I will go get some fresh air. Don’t go anywhere alright?” He smiled and left the room. Nick stirred, but couldn’t wake up.

He nodded again and sighed, looking down at Nick when he stirred. "Just wake up, Nick…" He whispered. "Please… I need you."

Nick shook his head and groaned before he opened his eyes. Nick started to panic wondering where he was.

"Nick?!" Lucas quickly started to push the nurse button while he held onto Nick's hand, trying to calm him down. "Shh, shh… Nick, it's me. It's Lucas. You're okay." He assured him, though he was trying to convince himself as well.

“Where am I?” His heart rate sped up as he started to hyperventilate. “What’s going on?!”

"Calm down, love, p-please…" Lucas lay down beside him to hug him tightly, hoping it would relax him. "You're in the hospital, love…"
