One day, you decide scream something in your head to catch mind readers. As you do, you see your crush flinch.
I want a variation on this because I don't want romance, but yeah

I'm in! How about it's your best friend and some sort of "why wouldn't you tell me!" moment?
Yeah that's great! Could I be the best friend?
Also, hey I don't think we've met :) I'm Amber
I'm Jaylyn! I think I've seen you around but yeah we've never officially met.
By best friend do you mean the mind reader or the mind read?
Oof right, I meant the mind reader
Alright. Do you just want to jump in? Or do you have like a character template or something?
Nah I think we should just jump in. Shall I start us off?
Ariel sat at the bus stop, impatiently waiting for her friend to arrive so they could head to school. To pass the time, she bounced from mind to mind: pick up the kids, buy groceries, will they like the presentation, how will I tell her… the usual. She started tapping her foot to a beat against the damp sidewalk, humming quietly.
While Ariel was peeking into the minds of others, Danny was running full speed towards the bus stop, very disheveled and very late. His footsteps pound furiously as he approaches the bus stop.
"Ariel! Ariel!" he shouts. He slides to a halting stop next to her and bends over to catch his breath.
"I'm not too late am I?"
Ariel looked up, keeping a straight face.
"You are extremely late, Daniel. Punishment will be decided upon arrival."
She shuffled to the side, however, and made space for him to sit.
Danny grins mischievously and takes a seat.
"I can't be too late. The bus isn't even here yet! We still have time to talk."
She took a moment to silence her ability, and looked over at her friend. "Lucky me."
At that moment the bus turned the corner and Danny gives it a glare to end all days.
"Ugh. I almost forgot why I was going to the bus stop. SCHOOL."
He stands up and slings his bag over his shoulders again.
"Only the best place on earth," Ariel said with heavy sigh, joining Danny at the edge of the sidewalk. "Another day."
The bus pulled up in front of them and Ariel slipped around Danny to hop up first, selecting two seats at the very back of the vehicle.
“Ey!” Danny exclaims as Ariel cuts him off.
Danny tailgates her on the way to the back of the bus and then booty bumps her as he plops down. He shifts to place his backpack on the lap and then grins at her.
“Hey, wanna hear a joke?” he asks. Danny is notorious for his jokes, and has the reputation of a class clown.
"Oooh yes, hit me with it," Ariel grins, twisting herself around to face him.
“Hmm…” He says, fake contemplating. “I would make a joke about chemistry but I know that wouldn’t get a reaction.”
Ariel paused, eyes widening. "Oh my lord." She clasped her hands together and placed them over her heart. "You're genius. Okay okay, my go."
“Thank you, thank you,” he said humbly and finished with an elegant half bow.
“Hit me with it. I want to die of laughter before we get to school.” Danny waits expectantly, really hoping he could die of laughter to get out of school.
She inhaled dramatically. “Alright. What did the cheese say when it saw itself in the mirror?” She paused for effect, then raised her hand and did a little wave. “Halloumi!”
“Hahahahaha! I don’t get it.”
Somehow Danny could make and tell all the jokes in the world, but when someone else tells one he’s usually clueless.
Ariel’s face fell. “Idiot,” she muttered in a light tone, facing the seat in front of her. “It’s a cheese joke. Halloumi is a type of cheese, but it also sounds like ‘Hello, me’… Get it now?”
“Oohhhhhhhhhhh!” Danny says, finally understanding.
“That is funny!” Danny says, bursting into laughter.
Also, whenever Danny gets the joke he tends to laugh uncontrollably. Some people find it weird, especially if something isn’t that funny, but it’s just the way he laughs.
(OKAY! Crazy school period is calming down and I'm back!!)
Ariel sighed, smiling slightly, pulling on the string to stop the bus. "Come on, off we go."
(I understand the struggle XD)
(Also, we are you from??? In Michigan I don’t believe we have buses like this, especially not to go to school lol)
Danny leads the way, marching to the front of the bus and humming the tune of, “We’re off to see the wizard! The wonderful wizard of Oz!”
(Oh lol I’m in the London UK)
Ariel skips along by his side, swinging her bag with every cheerful step. They walked up the cobbled way, merging into the crowd of oncoming students.
“Good thing we have our first class together! That way you can wake me up when the bell rings,” Danny jokes.
He weaves through the crowd like a graceful ballerina, except that he trips over his own two feet a lot during the day.
Ariel silently watches him go, mind flooded with a noisy barrier of teenage thoughts. She’s fighting hard not to flinch at how many of the people around her are crying or screaming or swearing in their own thoughts.
Turns around to grab Ariel’s hand and drag her to his locker.
“We get to go to my locker first today!” He exclaims.
Their lockers aren’t that far apart, but they have quite a bit of time before class anyways.
