(OK not that….yet. maybe later on, tho)
Realm of Many and Criminals of Pain (closed)
(Alrightio)
Peter jumped back, but the hot metal seared through his suit sleeve and he snarled as it burned his skin, “Rigel!” That pure command… Everything in Rigel screamed at him to morph the metal away from Peter, to obey -an instinct that had been drilled into him- but… Rigel bent the metal rod, curling it around Peter. He screeched in anger as the metal seared his skin, but Rigel used his powers to throw the metal towards the window— consequencially throwing Peter out too.
(Looo just “throw him out the window”)
“AIIIE!” Youichi burst through the room, still humanoid and still making fox yelps. “We gotta go! Mamoru and Junichi are waiting for us in the garden!”
He stepped aside to allow Daichi and Kohaku through the doorway. “Rigel, you coming?”
(I just love Youichi running in shouting AIIIIE)
Rigel, slightly stunned, nodded mutely and followed closely behind. His pulse was still racing from what he done, and his hand shaky so much he took precautionary actions and dulled the blade in his hand.
(:3 Isn’t that what foxes say anyway?)
Youichi lead Rigel down the hallway with the others, heading down the stairs and into the central hallway. “The gardens are right out here! If we hurry, we can make it!”
With only seconds elapsed, they burst out the garden doors, where Junichi and Mamoru were already waiting.
(I just love it loooooo)
Rigel glanced over his shoulder, but was sure Peter was probably injured from that searing metal and the fall out the window. Rigel chewing his lip, forcing himself to look forward, “W-Where will we go?”
(I see you adopted my looooo, lol)
Junichi growled at Rigel, but Mamoru lightly slapped his shoulder to be quiet. “We’ll just climb over the garden wall using that well over there,” He pointed to the far corner of the garden. “However, where we’ll go after that… I have no idea…” Ryuu, help us and guide us to safety once more— we need it!
(lol)
“Alright,” Rigel mumbled in response, looking a the metal in his hands. He morphed it to wrap around his ankles and wrists, then slowly -shakily- lifted himself off the ground using his magic. He had only tried it once before, and the metal was already rubbing against his skin uncomfortably, but he made do because he knew he wouldn’t be able to climb that wall in the state that he was in.
Junichi watched in pure awe as Rigel went up and over the wall with ease. “This human… He’s not like the rest, is he?”
Kohaku slapped his shoulder as Mamoru did earlier. “Rigel’s nice— just be glad he isn’t like the others!” She clambered up on the well roof, soon lifting herself up on the wall. “Now come on!”
Everyone else managed to get up and on the other side without much trouble.
Rigel’s breathing was slightly heavy when his feet finally touched the ground again, but for the most part he was okay. He morphed the metal back into a dull blade, massaging his wrists a little bit. He looked over at the others, but then looked ahead. I can’t believe I’m doing this… I guess I’m starting a new chapter of my life…
Mamoru was the last over the wall, and he growled. “Now we have to find a new place to live…” We’ve been at Katsumi for so long, and it was so well-kept…. But I can never assume something will last forever… “Follow me…”
He turned and went deeper in the woods, and Youichi caught up to him, rubbing his shoulder where the man had stabbed him. “That guy…. he’s wild…”
“What do you expect?” He scoffed. “I assume he’d do anything to get ahold of Rigel.”
Rigel curled his arms around himself, saying quietly, “He’ll probably be after you all too now that he knows you’re… different.” He chewing on his lips, following Mamoru as they went deeper into the thick woods.
“Well, we expect no less,” Mamoru grunted between heavy breaths. “Humans have been hunting us since they figured out how they could use our power….” They’ve always been like that, and they’ll never grow out of it, will they?….
They came up on a nice river with a run-down mill. With daytime runnning out, Mamoru didn’t really want to go out in the night. “It looks like we can stay here for the night, that is, if it’s vacant….”
“Humans can… take your powers? Can they- Can they take my powers away?” Rigel tried not to get his hopes up, tried not to fantasize what it be like without his powers burdening him- without Peter hunting him.
(Loooo, I thought it said without Peter hugging him :0)
“Well, they could, and we can assume they still can today,” Mamoru growled. “But I don’t think they can take yours…. you’re a bit different than us.” Cautiously, he touched the door as to merely open it. It creaked open eerily, giving him chills. “Yet once they absorb a power, they can’t get rid of it, and they can’t absorb any more of them.”
(Lol xD)
Rigel let out a sigh through his nose, trying not to let the disappointment get to him. “Just don’t tell Peter he can take you powers, you won’t have to worry about that part. And I think you will be safer because you can make magic out of thin air, I need already existing metal. That’s—“ That’s how he kept me trapped for so long. Rigel choked on the words, then looked away.
“We never told any human we had powers,” Mamoru uttered, asking Kohaku to light a flame. “They always assumed we did…. but I suppose we’re so remote to them nowadays, they probably don’t know we still exist anymore.”
He had a gander around what he could see from Kohaku’s fire, spotting several levels of decaying wood and rusted steel. “I’m unsure if this will be the most comfortable place to be… but it’ll have to do.”
Rigel peered inside, cautiously walking in. He brushed against the metal with his powers, testing their strength. It seemed like they would hold up, but for precaution he used the metal from his dull blade and repurposed it to strengthen the beams. “Well, just so you know, society has forgot you… I didn’t know you existed until you saved me.”
His final words hit Mamoru as caring, yet strange. Save him? From the city? Or that man…? He shook his head to clear his mind. “I’m unsure how to think of that— good or bad that society has forgotten us?”
Kohaku clambered up a ladder to one of the lofts with a concealed fire still lighting up the room. “Hey, these lofts look pretty comfy….”
A sudden yelp scared the fox out of the loft, and she plummeted to the ground floor. A strange, slim shadowed figure lept down from above and landed with both feet on the ground. “Who goes there!?”

He stumbled back a few steps, breath catching before he could reply to Mamoru. Rigel was ready to rip away the metal frame of the structure and use it as a weapon in case the figure attacked, putting his hands in front of him, “Who- Who are you?”
“What in Ryuu’s name!!?” She barked, forming a shard of rock in her hand. “Begone with you, human!!!!” She chucked it forth, streamline into Rigel’s visage.
Daichi reached out with his hand and stopped it in midair, a heartbeat away from impaling the poor human.
Rigel stared at the stone for a second, completely stunned. Even my powers didn’t react in time… He stumbled back, as if the reaction had been delayed, and choked on his own breath, “G-Gosh…” Rigel felt light-headed, realizing that he could’ve just… been dead.
(Oooof sowwwy :<)
Daichi crushed the rock with his bare hand, and with a little help from his power. “He won’t harm you, as long as you don’t harm him.”
The mysterious shadow scoffed. “A question I have is why are any of you here? This is my own living space. I was lucky to kick your friend out where I was sleeping soundly…”
He growled lowly, helping Kohaku to her feet, “May we stay here for one night? Our threshold has been crossed… by someone less welcomed….” He didn’t want to mention his name for the sake of Rigel’s wellbeing. “So… if you’d please? If you want, we could even stay out of your way…”
Rigel tried to collect himself, “I- I don’t mean any harm- I’m just- I —er— I’m s-sorry,” His mouth was a stuttering mess, staring at the enigma with worry and fear. Rigel knew he couldn’t rip the metal framework away without the whole thing crashing, so that was out of the picture in options for self defense.
The young lady sighed. “I suppose I can allow you to stay….” She glared hard at Rigel. “…And you to live…..”
Mamoru stepped forward and asked the question that nearly everyone was wondering. “So… who are you?”
“My name’s Shika,” she answered, her eyes narrowing. “I suppose you won’t mind telling me who he is….” She once again stared at the human, sure to make him uncomfortable.
(Shoot, got to get to bed, I’ll respond in the morning…)
Rigel forced himself to take a breath before saying, “I’m- I’m Rigel,” He didn’t dare move from where he was standing, but he glanced at the metal framework and the reinforcements that he added. Rigel wished he would’ve kept the metal with him, at least to use it as a shield.
Shika frowed. “Well, I can’t really say that it’s nice to meet you….” She picked a piece of dirt out of her thumbed hooves. “…But it’s nice to know who you are, Rigel.” She glared at everyone else. “Now what about you?”
Everyone introduced themselves, and it was nice to finally tame something that could’ve plunged them into chaos. “Now that that’s out of the way…” Daichi sighed. “Can we stay here for the night?”
Rigel waited for Shika’s reply, holding his breath a little. Staying with her would be better than staying out where Peter could find them. They all needed rest, anyways, considering one of them had gotten stabbed.
