“Hush, my baby, make no sound Maybe we can wait each other out. It's a cold war, Let's go to war!” Jasper smiled as some of the younger kids joined in for the chorus. He smiled over at Scarlet, watching her get used to the song
Romance one-on-one
"With every settled score, I thought that fighting with meant fighting for, But you turned it around, But you turned it around," They sang, smiling at Jasper. Scarlett smiled at him as well, singing along quietly incase she made mistakes in the wording or what was coming next.
Jasper nodded towards Scarlet, letting her know she was doing great. "It's a cold war Let's go to war With every settled score I thought that fighting with meant fighting for!" The kids nodded along the jasper's accompaniment on the guitar and started chanting the words.
"Screaming at the ones we love, Like we forgot who we can trust, Screaming at the top of our lungs, On the grounds where we feel safe, Screaming at the ones we love, Like we forgot who we can trust," They continued, excited by now and their voices mingling with the guitar as they got into the song.
Jasper glanced up as the door opened. He nodded to the kids and scarlet to continue singing while he talked with his brother. He set the guitar down and walked over “Hey, what’s up?”
"Do we censor or do we flow? Are we drunk on the chemicals? Every feeling in my bones tells me to lash out." They continued, seeing Jaspers signal and turning to Scarlett to help them sing. She still didn't know the words that well, but she tried to lead them with the song, smiling and earning a few giggles whenever she messed up.
Theo tugged him outside so they could talk.
“I- I want to work for you. I need to be better….f-for my son. For my girlfriend.
Jas stares at him in surprise,” when did you a Harper have a kid?!”
“She’s due in a few months…”
"And tell you, "fuck off", You've got my heart and I've got your soul, But are we better off alone?" The kids sang, some swearing with the song while others faded out and came back with full force right after. Scarlett sang along with them, acting overdramatic whenever she messed up and making some of the kids laugh, "With every battle, we lose a little more, Remember everything that we died for, You are everything that I die for."
Jasper peeked in the studio with a small smile, glad that Scarlet was handling the kids well. He chuckled adoringly, glad that they were having fun. He turned back to His brother and talked him down so Theo was relaxed.
“Of course you can work here. But you need to change you act, I’m serious. One slip up and I’m sorry but you’ll need to find a different place.”
Theo nodded in understanding “yeah, I get it.”
Scarlett and the kids finished the rest of the song as they talked, laughing as they ended and looking up to her expectantly. "Good job guys!" She said, grinning at them and trying to act like she knew what she was doing as she studied the other songs they could get started on, "Do you want to do a song right now? Or do you want to wait until Jasper gets his butt back over here to help?"
Jasper and Theo talked for a few more moments before heading back inside. Jasper walked over to the group while Theo had decided to stand off and watch.
“Aw, you finished the song without me?,” He poured with a smile. “Alright, what song you mod you guys want to do next?” He asked, walking over to where the rest of the songs sat
The kids smiled and shouted out various songs, none of which could really be deciphered in the mess. "Maybe you should just choose," She said with a small laugh, looking at the song choices and not even knowing which one she would pick, "Less bummed out kids that way."
He nodded in agreement and chose a song at random from the pile they had. “Hooooww abooouuuttt this one?” He held up “Into the Unknown” GeForce the kids and Scarlet to see. “Panic! At The Disco version or the movie version?”
"I say movie version, but it's up to the kids." Scarlett said, smiling and turning to them to see what their answer would be. There was a chorus of answers before she could quiet them down, calling out, "We'll take a vote, raise your hand for the Panic! At The Disco version." Almost half of the kids raised their hands, and after she counted, she called, "Raise your hand for the movie version." The remaining kids raised their hands and she smiled after counting them, "Close, but I guess we're going to do the movie version."
Jasper watched with a surprised smile as the kids chose the song. “Alright, movie version it is.” He walked over to the pile of songs and pulled out the song. “Does anyone want to have a solo for the ‘ah-ing’ Part or would you like one of us to do it?”
A few of the braver kids but their hands up and she smiled, though she didn't say anything so he could choose. Scarlett instead started humming along to the song quietly, even though the song hadn't started yet.
“Wow, you guys never want to do solos, this Is great! Julie, since I saw your hand go up first, you’ll do the solo for today, next time we try the song, we’ll do a small group.” Jasper said, starting the song
*Ahhhhaaahh~” the girl mention started, nodding along to the song and looking away from everyone until she felt more comfortable
"I can hear you but I won't, Some look for trouble while others don't." The kids sang, with Scarlett singing along with them. The kids looked excited to be singing and looked like they really wanted to be walking around from their impatients as they tapped their feet and looked glanced around.
“There’s a thousand whispered that I wish would go away…” Jasper joined, adding a few theatrics by running a hand through his hair and looking distraught
"And ignore your whispers which I wish would go away, oh..Whoa." She sang with the kids, smiling at his theatrics and doing some of her own by pretending she was looking out of a window.
"Ahh, ah, ahh~" the soloist continued, trying hold in a laugh as she and the rest of the kids watched jasper and Scarlet act out the song
"you're not voice…you're just a ringing in my ear, and if I heard you, which i don't, I'm spoken for I fear…" Jasper and the kids sang, acting all sassy and turning away when the last part of the verse was sung
"Everyone I've ever loved is here within these walls, I'm sorry, secret siren, but I'm blocking out your calls." They sang, with Scarlett placing her hands over her heart and shaking her head along with the first part before turning away from the group in a way to 'block out their calls'.
The kids stifled a giggle as they reved up for the chorus “I’ve had my adventure, I don’t need something new! I’m afraid of what I’m risking if I follow you…into the unknown!”
"Into the unknown, Into the unknown, Into the unknown," They sang, with Scarlett looking over at Jasper with a happy smile before joining in and letting her voice join the chorus of voices.
Jasper smiled over at her and walked to the counter to stop the song. He laughed softly at the chorus of 'was' and whines that came from the kids.
"i know, I'm sorry but there's a few things I want to work on before we continue." he apologized
"the first one being that I want you guys to feel comfortable singing the song, it doesn't have to be perfect the first time. Just loosen up a bit, heck, belt the whole song if you want. Sing part you know, sing the ones you don't, we'll work on adjustments later."
The kids nodded and started to talk among themselves, smiling and already getting slightly off focus just because they weren't singing. Scarlett agreed with a nod of her own, happily taking a break and letting her voice and throat relax as she took up a spot against the nearest wall and leaned against it to rest.
Jasper checked the time and tilted his head. He came back to the group and waited for it to be silent. "alright two choices, we can either continue with the song for the next hour or we can go in the back and work one on one until it's time to go. or we can split up between the two of us and half half of you work with me and the rest work with scarlet."
There were a variety of answered called back to him, but the maid decision seemed to be one on one work with Scarlet taking half and Jasper taking the other half. "I'll let you decide what group you want," She said once the kids had gone quiet again, a bright smile on her face.
"Alright that answers that question," Jasper laughed softly "alright, I think I'll let you handle the group who wants to continue with the song while I take the others in the back for some one on one, sound good?" he asked, looking around with a smile as the kids cheered
"Alrighty then, who wants to go first?"
A young girl, a few years older than Lily raised her hand up
"Alright, lets go and choose a song while these guys work out here."
She nodded, watching the remaining group with a smile as Jasper and the girl walked off to work. "Well, do you guys want to restart the song? Or just keep going from where we were?" Scarlet asked, coming to the decision to continue the song from the various responses. "Alright, I'll start the song from where we left off, get ready." She walked over to the counter and started the song again.
"What do you want? 'Cause you've been keeping me awake. Are you here to distract me so I make a big mistake?" The kids started up once the music was going, getting right back into the song as she joined in a few seconds later.
