He smiled, running a hand through his hair. "It's fine. At least you didn't break a rib this time," he said, referring to a moment when he was 7.

He nodded, waving one more time to his mom before turning around and facing Tessa. "Send a spell my way, please."

Her hand burst into bright flames, and she flicked a small ball his way. It was a mini sun.

He took the sun in his own hand, bringing it close to his face to study it. He then reached into it with his left hand, and unraveled it like a ball of twine. Then, he tossed the twine into the air, and blew as hard as he could. It formed a circle as it flew through the air, and when it hit the ground, a portal opened up to what looked like a clearing in a rainforest. The humidity already began to slide its way into this new world, and at least 3 mosquitoes came with it.

Tessa scrunched her nose up at the mosquitoes, swatting them away from her. "I'm already naturally hot. I don't need any more heat."

"We're going into South America," he said dully, taking one last look back at Rhianon one last time before jumping into the portal, landing on his feet and stumbling slightly.

Tessa jumped as well, landing in a neat crouch. She stayed down, her fingers pressed into the damp soil as she took in her new surroundings.

They sat in the middle of a dense rainforest, the trees and ground covered with various vines and ferns. Everything seemed to be moving, from the bugs that orbited around their heads like little planets to the tallest-reaching arms of the plants.
Runenr reached up and grabbed hold of the edge of the portal, balling it up into a compact sphere and throwing it against the ground. It bounced once, and then turned into a bird mid-air, flying away as it cawed angrily at its creator.

"Your baby doesn't seem to like you," Tessa pointed out, still crouching. The heat didn't bother her, but it was always nice to be in cooler climates to balance out her body temperature.

"Wasted energy tends to be a bit cranky," he agreed, cracking his knuckles. "We need to find a stream. Last time I checked, it was about……" he spun around, then pointed in a direction, "That way."

He nodded, making his way in between the trees, putting a hand on each one like they were living animals. "In case they're watching," he explained, the 'They' being the tribe.

"Hey, you do you, my dude." She trailed behind, head turning this way and that as she continued to look around. He's only been in one rainforest before, and it wasn't one from Earth. Plus, America is the only country on Earth that's she's been to. She wanted to go to Italy, but she never got the chance–and she had lost all motivation to do so."

After about 15 minutes of walking, they reached a stream so small it looked like a runoff from an excess amount of moister on a tree. Runner knelt down and dipped a hand into the stream, gesturing for Tess to come closer.

"To make sure they don't melt your brain as soon as they see you," he said, standing up and lightly tracing the water from the tip of her nose up to her hair line. He dipped is hand into the water once again, and put a single drop on each of her temples.

"The first time they meet you, they go through your mind to see who you are," he explained as he did the same to his own face. "It's incredibly painful if you don't put stream water on tour nose, forehead, and temples. I learned this the hard way."

((She originally perceived him as this normal mortal that was in the ocean. When he started making those oddly specific observations, she got a little unnerved because things weren't adding up to her–and trust issues are a thing. And then the whole 'killing the ogre with a single blow' thing really hit home the fact that she was way off with her judgment–and she prides herself in making accurate judgements))
