He frowned in response, still somewhat confused. "That's….weird. I've never heard of something like that."
Runner's Start (Private)
group
(sorry, photoshoot)
She gave him a funny look. "Really? All I've ever known was hatred for having magic."
"No one I've ever met had a problem with it. Although, I was out in the country for a few years."
group
Tessa shrugged. "Then consider yourself lucky. I haven't had such fortune."
He could tell it was a touchy situation, so he decided to shut up about it.
(Will his mom show up sooner in this one now that we know exactly who it is?)
group
(Probably. Maybe pop in to decimate a horde of monsters and tell them to run or something)
"So," she started after a brief silence. "Do you have no memory? At all? Besides the ship thing."
He shook his head. "There's, like, a blank space in my head where the memory should be. What day is it?"
group
"Date or weekday?" His description of a blank space in his mind was a little concerning.
"Uh….both?" he shrugged. "It was May 24th last time I checked."
(Make it, like august or some shit)
group
"Holy shit, dude." She looked at him with bewilderment. "It's August 17th."
He blinked rapidly in surprise, stopping dead in his tracks. "You're bullshitting."
group
She stopped just ahead of him, spinning around and crossing her arms. "And what motive would I have to lie to you?"
"Cause you don't seem to be a very nice person, judging by the fact you blew up a ship for fun a few hours ago."
group
She pouted her lips. "It wasn't for fun. Sure, I happen to enjoy blowing shit up. But I was paid to blow that ship up. And no one was supposed to be on that ship in the first place."
"Still proves my point," he said, rubbing his chin. "So I have a 1 and a half month span that I don't remember. Kinda disconcerting."
group
"Kinda, yeah. But nothing that McDonald's can't help."
He nodded, jutting his bottom lip out in agreement. "Fair enough. Let's go."
group
She turned back around and continued to lead Runner to the restaurant.
"Any idea why this could've happened?" he asked as they walked.
group
"Nadda." She shook her head, perking up as she spotted the McDonald's sign up ahead.
He was talking her ear off, but he didn't really care at the moment. "Ever heard of anything like it?"
group
"Amnesia or memory suppression. The latter is usually magic-induced." She tossed a small smile over her shoulder. "I'm friends with four Seers, so I have an idea of memory things."
Now, this would be a stretch. "Do you think you could help me figure what what happened?"
group
Tessa shrugged and pushed open the restaurant door. "I can't. Those Seer friends might. Might."
"And where would they be?" he asked, slipping in after her.
group
"Not here." She smiled and waved at the cashiers, and they smiled back before yelling an order to the cooks. Tessa looked back at Runner. "What do you want?"
He shrugged. "Just a burger and some fries."
group
She walked up to the counter and got Runner's order, exchanged some friendly pleasantries, then headed over to a booth.
He followed her, opting to sit in the seat across from her. "I'm guessing you've made a few friends from your various trips here?"
group
"I'm a usual, so they already know what to get me." She tapped her finger on the table, following the beat of the song quietly playing in the restaurant.
