"And they're… they're all strong and good, and I'm weak… they don't need somebody like me up there."

"They're just jealous." She hummed.
"Of what? I'm broken and I'm bad and I'm too small and I'm not good enough for them… I don't have anything to be jealous of."

"Yes, you do. Your smart, brave, adorable, and loving and- A lot of good things. And remember, this is the queen of hell speaking to you."
Nathaniel sniffled a bit, not seeming quite convinced. "But some of those are why they kicked me out… I'm… I'm not supposed to be so emotional…"

Lucifer paused. "I Still don't understand… why."
"Because to be strong, I'm not supposed to let my emotions control me. And… and I do, s-so I'm weak…"

"Not to me, you aren't!" She poked his nose softly. "To me, your strong, courageous, brave, loyal, smart, and it's okay to be emotional! It just means that you feel empathy for others sometimes, and you overdo it. But guess what? We all do." She said, giving a comforting smile.
Nathaniel looked up at Lucifer weakly, his eyes still shining with tears. "But… but then why did they say it's bad?" He asked.

"Because they know you're too perfect for them." Lucifer smiled, sighing lightly as Cerberus nuzzled his neck lightly.
"M'not perfect, ma'am…" Nathaniel curled in on himself more. "I can't… I c-can't even fly…"

Lucifer hummed. "You are, you just don't see it. And please, call me Lucy."
"Mm… thanks for the thought, miss Lucy, but… but I'm really not perfect…" Nathaniel sighed shakily.

Lucifer hummed. "Well, I understand. You'll see one day." She smiled.
Nathaniel huddled closer, trying his best to calm down and relax. "I just… I miss them…"

"I understand, hun." She said, gently stroking the others' hair.
"Even if they weren't that nice, I… I had a home. I knew that there would be food I could make for myself. I knew that I had somewhere warm to sleep, and… I-I miss them…"

Lucifer hummed. "I know…uhm… try to get some rest.. okay?"
Nathaniel nodded weakly and closed his eyes, just allowing Lucifer to hold onto him. It took him a while, but he eventually drifted off to sleep.

Lucifer fell to sleep, holding him in her arms.
Nathaniel was still asleep by the time Lucifer awoke, his cheeks streaked with tears. He seemed to be exhausted from everything that had happened to him.

Lucifer yawned, and sighed, not wanting to wake Nathaniel up by accident so she just stayed there.
A little while later, Nathaniel finally stirred in Lucifer's arms. He yawned a bit and looked up at the woman sleepily, his face still pink and splotchy from crying.

Lucy cooed, rubbing his cheek softly. "Are you okay?" She asked, looking down toward him, worriedly.
"Mm…" Nathaniel nuzzled into Lucifer's hand, closing his eyes again. "M'alright, I think…"

Lucy sighed with relief. "Good.."
Nathaniel glanced up at the woman, his wings still limp behind him. "Are you gonna send me back out to the streets?"

Lucifer shook her head. "No… I'll keep you with me. Does that sound good?"
