Why did you have to go, Riley? I need you.
See You Again // One-On-One // CLOSED
"tell Mom I said hi if she's up there Riley, and you need to talk to Maya, she's upset. Again, I know. I tried talking to her but you know I suck at talking to her."
Maya reached her favourite place. Few people knew about it, but if they did, they didn't show up often.
He sighed and took off his shirt. He tested the water and dived in, letting the coolness wash over his and his scars, the visible and the invisible ones
She looked around to see if there was anyone around. When she saw no one, she walked to the fountain.
Lukas floated around for a couple hours, relaxing and calming himself
Tossing a coin into the fountain, Maya took a deep breath.
He finally got out and pulled his shirt on and walked to his car. He called Maya as he drove back to the city
Maya heard her phone ringing, but ignored it. She knew it would be Lukas, and she didn't want to talk to him. She looked at the stars.
He called his dad, telling him he and Maya would be late. He drove around town for a bit then abandoned the car in an empty parking lot and walked
Maya let out a laugh and wiped her tears away. "I can't believe I'm crying over you, dad. You never cared about me."
He walked around a bit more the slumped near a building "where is she Riley?" He whispered " Wherever you are Maya, I will find you. Always." He promised
"It's funny. For years, I thought about what I would say. I had it all planned out in my head. And then when I saw you again, that all just left my head."
He sighed and stood to call Maya once more before heading to the cafe they usually hang out at "Hey Carroll," he waved to the barista.
"Riley's gone. She didn't make it. I didn't think she would, but it actually happened."
"hey Lukas," she waved back. "Where's Maya? And I'm sorry about Riley, I got the news a few hours ago." He just nodded "maya needed time for herself. I'll take the regular with cinnamon,"
Maya ran a hand along the surface of the water, a few lone tears dropping and making ripples.
She nodded and handed Lukas two cups "one for you and one for Maya, it's on me." She said with a smile
" Thank you, I owe you one." Lukas walked out and texted Maya "got your favorite from Carrol's I'll drink it myself if you don't show.
She wiped her tears when her phone dinged. She simply read the text and then ignored it.
He rolled his eyes after a while "you know I hate when you do this Maya, please answer back." He texted, walking back to his car
Maya read and ignored the text again, never actually unlocking her phone so that it showed them as read.
"damn it," he said aloud, earning him some glances. He apologiesed and found d his car in the empty parking lot. "I'm not losing you too."
I need to be alone. Why can't you get that?
He sighed in relief "I can, just it scares me when you're gone for so long. I'll leave you alone" he got in his car and drove home
I just wish that I could never have lived, Maya thought.
Not wanting to go inside to face his father about leaving Maya alone, Lukas sat on the porch waiting for her
It would have been so much easier if I had never been born.
"how ya doing?" he texted Maya, bored out of his mind "anything fun happened yet?"
Maya ignored the texts, looking back up at the stars.
"* come home Maya, please*"
