Saral let out a soft yelp as she was picked up, arms finding their way around Tessa’s neck. This sent the supplies to the floor, all but the scissors. Which were curiously gone. Or rather, tucked into her waistband, just in case she found herself in need of a weapon. Something told her this was going to be the opposite of smooth flying, pun only half intended.

“Every day between one and five new planets are discovered across the universe. The smaller the star the longer it lives. The population of Eridearn rises by twenty percent exactly every four years, stays that way for a year, then drops that twenty percent. This is likely due to the Games of Discord-“ She muttered to herself, trying to soothe the heart that had nearly jumped out of her chest as they’d taken off,

"Calm down, Encyclopedia," Tessa muttered under her breath, adjusting her grip on Saral and leveling out her wings to make it smoother. She was no longer in the joking mood, but she wasn't going to be a bitch either, so she simply held onto Saral and tried to make the flight as smooth as possible. After a moment of quiet contemplation, she flicked her eyes up towards the thickening clouds and flapped her wings, steadily flying higher and higher until they were flying among the misty clouds. Just that, feeling the mist cling to her skin and scales, seeing the clouds curl around them and breaking apart due to her wings cutting through them, made a very small and very delicate smile lift her lips behind her mask.

Oh, how she loved flying.

For some reason, the higher they flew, the slower Saral's words got. Until she was completely quiet. It was something about the way the ground moved further away, becoming something more similar to a painting or model swathed in clouds than an actual view. If she pretended hard enough, she could pretend she was just in a very thick mist, on the ground and safe. Maybe sitting, so she didn't have to worry about her leg. Her leg that hurt even more than usual for some reason.

She didn't say anything, her face shifting away from Tess's shoulder completely to look around them. Not down, no, but around them. The way the clouds curled was so simply elegant, filling her with a sense of wonder she never found this high in the sky. Heights were her least favorite thing, but something about it up here, knowing that the person holding her wouldn't drop her—and for some reason, just the person holding her—was comforting.

Tessa flicked her eyes down at Saral as her large wings spread out and found a swift but steady current, easing the burden on the flared limbs. The wind tugged at her hair and whipped it around her face, wrapping it around her throat and shoulders. Golden embers studied the girl in unwavering arms, but hidden lips remained sealed behind the grinning mask. At least Saral stopped talking, but the silence was a little nagging. With a soft sigh and careful maneuvering, Tess shifted more into her dragon and used her tail to probe the delicate button of the device behind her ear. Soft music floated into her ears, and Tess released a relaxed sigh. She was too lazy to dismiss her spiked tail, so it remained, helping her keep a straight path with barely any effort.
