Maurine plucked her dragon off her head, and followed the fierce lizard's gaze. The ruffian noticed their gaze and quickly disappeared into anonymity.

Jaye nuzzled Fei. "Thank you for the heads up girl." He mutters. She purred in reply and wraps back around his neck. He glanced back at the ally.
"Should I be worried?" Maurine murmured, stroking Beetle's small head.
He shook his head. "I would not worry about it." He says gently.
She looked away from the alley then. "Tell me about yourself,"
"Well. I'm from the Choi Clan in China, a heavy business and trade family. Fei is a Noodle Dragon, and my closest companion. I have 14 younger brothers. I am the oldest, and I'm supposed to become the head of the clan when my father passes." He shrugs. "I enjoy sweet things, and I'm trained in many martial arts. I know about… four? Languages." He smiles a little. "Not to brag."
Maurine giggled. "Oh, I'm so envious. I never went through school," she admitted, "My mother taught me to read and write, that's all I know,"
He nods. "As a partner in trade, I had to learn to read and write and speak other languages. Perhaps I could teach you." He smiled at her, his eyes glimmering faintly in the light. He seemed to be very relaxed and happy.
"I would like that," Maurine echoed with a childlike exuberance, "What language is the most useful? In your opinion?"
"Hmm. English. Since we trade a fair amount with the West, it's useful." He replies with a smile. "But French is just as useful in its own ways."
I'm back. I'm dreadfully sorry about that.//
It's ok! I totally understand if anyone needs a break, life is unpredictable )
She nodded. "You have been to the West, then?"
"Yes. Only twice. But it was truly beautiful." He chuckles as they walk.
"I fear the west." She admitted.
"Really? And why is that?" He asks curiously as he gazes down at her, his eyes soft and curious.
"Savages. Not just Indians but the colonials as well.." she looked away.
"Ah. But the "savages" as you say, are actually quite intellectual." he replies. "As for the Colonials… That is another story." He eyes narrowed.
She laughed halfheartedly. "Otherwise… I am quite enchanted by their simple architecture."
He smiled a little bit. "It's certainly more interesting when you go and see it for your self."
Her smile widened. "I'm certain,"
He laughs gently as they walk. "It is beautiful here, though. The architecture is breathtaking."
"I suppose living here has made me numb to it," she murmured.
He smiled. "Perhaps I can take you to China, show you around as you have so graciously done for me."
"That would be fun," her eyes sparkled with anticipation.
He laughed gently and looked around. "So. Where shall we go first?"
