"Coming right up." Jason walked over to the kitchen, calling out the order.

Stefan let out a quiet sigh. He didn't know what he was doing here. This was all out of his comfort zone. And if his father knew he was here, gods that wouldn't go over very well.

Jason walked back over to the handsome man, carrying his meal. "Here you are sir. Can I get you anything else? A dessert perhaps?"

"Thank you," Stefan said as he took the food. "No, that will be all." Then just as his server began to leave, he blurted out without thinking, "My name is Stefan. Why don't you sit with me, when you're not busy that is."

"Um sir? You want me to sit with you?" Jason was confused. Who was this man?

Stefan outwardly cringed then. "Just if you would like to, of course. And talk, I don't know. You probably have better things to do. Don't mind me." He was rambling now. Why couldn't he just shut up?

"Umm." Jason checked the time. "My next break is in five minutes. I could sit with you then if you'd like." Jason had no idea what to make of this man.

Stefan gave him a kind smile. Perhaps not all was lost. And perhaps he wasn't as big of a loser as he thought himself to be. "That would be nice. I'd like that."

"Ok. I'll be back in five minutes… I guess." Jason was plainly unsure about what to do, and this man's intentions.

Stefan nodded his head. He could work with this, so long as the waiter took a chance on him. He had been coming here more often than he should, enchanted by him. It was a miracle no one had caught on yet.

Jason came back to the man, and sat down. "So," he asked, "What's your name?"

"Stefan," he said immediately, then cringed. Perhaps he should have given him a fake name, so he didn't put two and two together of who he truly was. "And yours?"

"I'm Jason. Wait, Stefan? Like, umm, that Stefan?" Jason asked.

Stefan's eyes widened, shushing Jason and looking around them to see if anyone overhead them. When no one did, he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Yes, that one. But you have to be quiet. No one knows I'm here."

"Okay. So why do you choose to come here of all places."

"To get away from everything." That was only partly the reason.

"Aren't there better places to do that? I mean, this place isn't exactly top notch, you know?"

Stefan shrugged his shoulders. "Perhaps. But here I can just be. Here I'm normal. Other places are too easy to be recognized."

"I guess. Why do you even feel the need to escape though? Isn't your life, well, kinda perfect?"

Stefan snorted. "You'd be surprised to know what truly goes in in father's estate. You'd want to escape too."

"What do you mean?"

He had said too much. "I can't really talk about it. Just know that this is a much needed escape."

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense."

Stefan looked at him. "Tell me, what are you doing in a place like this?"

"What do you mean? I'm working. I need the money."

"No, I mean, why do you work here of all places? I'm sure you could fins somewhere nicer to work."

"Oh, well. Nobody else would hire me."

Stefan made a face. Was is that hard to get hired somewhere else? He didn't know any better. He jad only ever lived and seen his father's estate. "Really? But why?"
