Lunette glanced up to make sure the teacher wasn't watching before taking out her phone.
Hello!
Teenagers being teenagers//OxO//CLOSED
I won't say anything more so we don't get in trouble, but I just wanted to give you my number and say hi
Clover quickly sent the text then paid attention to the class.
Okay :)
Lunette stuck her phone back into her purse and continued taking her notes as she'd been doing before.
The class Clover was in was actually band. She plays oboe, first chair and first part. She's been playing since 6th grade and she has loved it the whole time. Of course, the first day never held much for band, but she was excited to go on with her last school year playing in first chair position.
Lunette could play a couple instruments, though she mostly did it as a hobby. She also liked singing and art, both of which she had pursued at her school in France.
As class went by, Clover couldn't help but think a bit about Lunette. First of all, she felt bad for her that Bryce had even come into the vicinity of the girl. And second of all, she actually liked her. Usually, the new girls were quickly swiped up by the 'popular' girls, not really the popular stereotype, but they were in most girl's sports, very outgoing, and pretty. Clover almost never got the chance to even say hi to new students.
Lunette gathered her things when the bell rung and stepped outside her classroom to wait, already looking forward to seeing Clover again. She was glad to have made a friend in the foreign country since she'd been so afraid that she'd just be lost and alone for a long time.
Clover was one of the last out of the class. With everyone in front of her being so slow, she started bypassing them to get to Lunette. She smiled once she saw the girl. "Hi, again. What's your next class?" She asked.
"Hello!" Lunette smiled brightly with her greeting. "My next class is… 'study hall'." She read off of her schedule.
"Oh perfect, that is one we can go to together and have together!" Clover said. She started walking, making sure Lunette followed. "How are your classes so far?"
"They're pretty good!" She replied. "All the teachers want me to stand up and say my name and an interest of mine, for some reason. Is that normal in America?"
"Sometimes, usually they just say 'oh we have a new student, their name is… blank… treat them well.' But with people from other countries, you, for example, they like to introduce them more, who knows why. But I'm glad they're going well." She explained.
Lunette nodded. "I am guessing that many Americans do not know much about France?" She asked. "My parents told me that, anyway…"
"That's true for most. Just like anything, some people are more interested in some things than others. I personally don't know much about France, but I know that there's at least one person in the school that has their mind set on learning everything they can about it and going there one day… long story short, yeah, many don't." Clover said with a little laugh at her lengthy response.
Lunette nodded again, smiling softly at Clover's long-winded answer. "I am sure… I knew a couple people in France who were very intrigued with the American culture. I like it too, but I am not as obsessed as they were."
Clover nodded. The study hall was on the opposite side of the school from where they were before, so they had to make sure they sped to the next class to make sure they weren't late. She picked up her pace slightly.
Lunette matched her pace to Clover's so she wouldn't be left behind. "What do we do in study hall class?" She asked.
"Well, for now you shouldn't need to do anything, unless some mean teacher gave you an assignment to do as homework on the first day of school. But for most of the rest of the year, you do assignmensts or studying, unless you're lucky enough to have nothing." She explained, with a little smile.
Lunette nodded. "Ah, I see… so it is just a class in which I can do my schoolwork?" She asked. "We have something like that in France."
"Yep! It's really nice. I usually don't have much to do at home, if any, when I have study hall." Clover said as they turned. She scanned the hallway to make sure they were going to right way.
She nodded again. "That is good. Study hall seems to be very convenient and helpful, yes?" She stopped with Clover when they reached the room.
"Yes, very." She agreed. The study hall room was right across the hall from the library so people often checked in with the teacher then went to the library. "So, do you have anything to work on this early in the school year?" Clover asked, smiling.
Lunette shook her head. "No. I have not been assigned any homework yet other than having my parents sign a syllabus, which I cannot do here, obviously. You?"
"Me neither. Do you wanna go to my favorite cafe with me? If someone has nothing, the teacher in charge lets us go off campus, especially since we have lunch after this." Clover said, smiling and going into the room.
"Sure! That sounds fun!" Lunette grinned. "I have money in my phone, so I should be able to get something there." She followed Clover into the classroom.
(Also can I have this study hall teacher? Lmao)
(Definitely lol)
"Perfect! Usually, we would just need to wait for the bell to ring and check-in with the teacher. But who knows what they'll have us or you do since it's the first day." Clover said smiling. She lead Lunette to a table and sat down while they waited.
Lunette nodded, grinning as well as they sat down. Considering this was just a study hall, the teacher didn't bother introducing Lunette to the class, which she didn't mind.
After a minute or two, and about half the class coming in, the bell rang. Clover jumped up from the chair so they could go check-in with the teacher.
Lunette followed her up, figuring she should probably be there too. She stood quietly and patiently beside Clover.
"Hello, Mr. Black, can Lunette and I leave this class now? We both do not have any work to do." Clover asked politely, giving him a small smile as well.
