Penelope slowly opens her eyes and moves her head ever so slightly. "Wait, what?" She looks down at a man still on one knee, her face mirroring his, confusion and maybe a little bit of terror. She slowly moves her limbs, stretching a little, very new to this. "What just happened… why can I feel things now…?"

"well holy chickens, Elijah you just found your soulmate!"
His friend said snapping more pictures, while Elijah stares into her eyes. His curly dirty blonde hair falling into his face over his blue eyes a little. His white teeth showing through his smile as he laughs a little, not believing a thing he said.
But he thought he would have fun…. he knew this was a prank.
"guess I'm your soulmate….. m' lady."
He says as he kisses her hand.
Still super confused, Penelope smiles at Elijah's comment. "I… I guess so!" She was beaming and unbelievably happy. Still on the podium, she looks around the town in awe. "So, uh, where am I?" Her face, once again full of confusion.

"college hill, its a cute town, and um…. you were the center of attention."
He said, actually not knowing what to say. She was beautiful, but he could tell she was confused.
"Oh uh… College Hill… sounds familiar, but I guess that might be why…?" Penelope steps down from the podium, now feeling a little odd standing up there with everyone looking at her.

"why what?"
He said still holding her hand. There was a crowd now, staring at the pedestal, then the girl, then at Elijah.
"you know what…. let's go"
He turned to his friends,
"uh yeah! Okay, we can… talk later, let's go"
The guys with the camera said, looking around, he was in a bit of shock,
the camera would have dropped if it wasnt strapped to his neck.
Turning back to the girl, he picked her up, assuming she wasnt used to walking,
"Is it alright if i carried you? We're gonna go somewhere where we can talk…. about this"
He said to her with his big white smell.
Penelope smiled back to him. "Yeah, thank you!" She held onto him so that she wouldn't fall.

Walking home, she was really light for a statue, they walked up on his porch step.
Turning to his friends, he smiles,
"um, i have no idea what to do….. but can you at least but Honey inside."
He says while his other friend opens the door.
"um well…. we'll see you, and we'll check up on your mother for you."
They say as he walks in, Honey, the dog, running inside.
Setting her down on the couch, he sits in front of her,
"so, first…. whats your name? Im Elijah"
Penelope looks around the living room, smiling. "Oh, uh, I think my name is Penelope… nice to meet you!" She leans back into the couch. "Thank you so much for taking me here, it's really nice."

"Oh, Penelope is such a gorgeous name."
He said scooting over to her more. He didn't really want to intimidate her much.
Penelope smiled like a child on Christmas. "Thank you!" She sat up again and looked over to Elijah, still smiling.

"um, do you remember…. anything?"
He asks her standing up, going to make tea, but still talking to her.
"Uh…" Penelope closed her eyes to think. "No… nothing is coming to mind…" She sighed laying back once again.

"hmm okay….. what about, how old are you? Do you know that?"
He says putting a cute flowered teapot on the stove.
"I think I'm… 19? Maybe… what about you?"

"I'm 20, almost 21. So we're close!"
He said smiling at her while he was getting some glass cups out.
He was mildly concerned about this whole soulmate thing. He never thought it really excited, but I mean, this girl is no longer a statue is she not?
"so….. do you know about the curse or the rumors?"
He said referring to the soulmate deal.
"What rumors? And aren't curses part of fiction??" Penelope looked very confused, once again.

"well… thats what my friends and i call it…. but you know, the soul mate thing?"
He said as he filled the cup with ice.
Penelope stopped for a moment, a few memories flooding into her head. She leaned her head back and her breathing sped up.

dropping the glass, the ice falling out onto the floor, the glass didn't break though, rushing to her, kneeling in front of her grabbing her hand.
"Hey… are you okay? you don't have to say anything for now."
He said, his hand in hers, his thumb stroking hers. His blue eyes looking worriedly at her face.
Her breathing worried him alot, he was surprised she knows how to talk, although he didn't know how long she's been a statue.
He would have to look into that himself, it seemed she didn't feel comfortable talking about this.
"I… uh…" She was still breathing a quick pace. She got off the couch and hugged Elijah trying to calm herself down. Many of her memories came back, all triggered by the word 'soulmate'.

"Oh…"
He was surprised as she hugged him, but fully sitting on the floor now, he held her there on the hardwood.
Stroking her soft hair, he hummed a little bit to calm to down. To the tune of 'you are my sunshine'.
After about 5 minutes like that, she had calmed down, now just enjoying the feeling of being in someone's arms. "What is that song you were humming? It sounds familiar, but that is something I still don't remember… and it sounded really nice."

"oh…. you are my sunshine."
He says to her, tightening his grin slightly.
"that's what its called"
He smiles at the fact that she knew it. His mother sang it to him before he went to bed every night before she was hospitalized.
Every time he came to visit her in the hospital, they would sing it together.
"Oh yes…" She smiled. "I think, if I'm remembering correctly, me and my sister would sing it from time to time when we were kids." She slightly tightened her grip on Elijah as a couple tears streamed out of her eyes, not sad tears though, she was a little overwhelmed and very happy.

"You are my sunshine…. my only sunshine."
He started singing it, noticing her crying. His voice sounded pure, smooth, and gentle.
Stroking her hair as he sings, he was glad his friends didnt stay.
"You make me happy~ when skies are grey."
She smelled surprisingly good for being a statue that just came to life,
"you'll never know dear~ how much i love you"

She softly sighed. "That was beautiful, where did you learn to sing like that?" She almost felt at home in his arms, dismissing the fact that she had met him only an hour earlier.

"my mother, shes a beautiful singer, you should meet her some time"
He says, still humming the tune.
"I definitely want to." She started humming along with him. Soon they were interrupted by the screaming tea kettle that Elijah had put on earlier.

"oh, can i get that?"
He says to her, running his fingers through her hair.
