Mina was quiet, letting Dorian tell it in his own dramatic way. She didn’t know everything, after all; she had been in Romania up until this point, and only learned about the infamous men while reading the newspaper on the train. She took a moment to clean her spectacles.
Efraim listened to Dorian attentively, but was also feeling an echo of embarrassment. Of course Sanger wouldn’t have known anything, he was American, but even then, it was pretty obvious to them now that M. would have told Dorian about where they would go next.
“Oh good gravy, another… interesting character to meet,” Quartermain muttered. They were also listening, as he had also never heard of Jekyll or Hyde.
Sanger interrupted. “Alright, so why would we want someone so vile on our team? Doesn’t M want us to save the world?” he said. “Well, his powers of change of shape could prove useful, you never know.” Dorian said, and continued on. “Jekyll was smart. He knew that if anything went wrong, he’d pay. So he kept his excursions quiet, and didn’t do anything too risky. That was, until he murdered a man. Suddenly, Jekyll as Hyde was committing the most vile crimes you could think of, at least in the realm of murder. Violent urges, and all. But he couldn’t keep up the act for long. His servants found out, and then it became known to the public. He killed himself in his shame, but that didn’t stop Hyde from coming back. A ghost of foul intentions, if you will. And now, we have to capture it.”
