(Do you want me to do the timeskip quick?)
The Soldier’s View (closed but stalkers are cool)
(Imma just say it’s two days later cuz yeah)
Jax has success ranted and scolded Blaze for at least an hour about not being careful and how she could’ve easily gotten killed once he woke up, a look of ‘I don’t know what I would’ve done if you were shot’ settling onto his face when he was done. The rest of the day passed quickly and soon enough morning came again. She groaned when she woke up right at dawn and rolled over on her bed, reminding herself she had to go make sure their captured soldier was still alive and doing alright. She slipped on her boots and pants but left her white tank top on, covering her arms with the jacket she had gotten from the raid.
She stopped by the mess hall and grabbed food for both the captured soldier and herself before heading out to the concrete building. The door was quite creaky but she slipped inside as quietly as she could, making her way down to his cell. “You up?” She asked quietly but still somewhat sternly, grabbing the key, “Got you breakfast before it ran out, it’s eggs, a tiny piece of bacon and some more bread, plus I even got you a small glass of milk! That usually runs out after the first few people go through.”
(Yo?)
Keith was tormented that night by nightmares and his sister falling to the ground, the sound of a gunshot. Everything repeated itself to the morning light. He stared at the locket he was allowed to keep before holding it to his chest and shutting his eyes. He stayed like that, even when his captor brought the food. It was the girl from last night, the people who ruined what he had left of his life. He had nothing left for himself and worst of all, he was in the hands of the enemy. "Why are you feeding me? You have men to take care of. Surely the enemy isn't as important as your own men…" He mutters, curling more into himself.
“Because believe it or not, we don’t believe in starving prisoners, we actually have morals.” She opened the door to the cell and stepped inside, setting the food on the floor next to the bed. Retreating back to outside the cell and locking the door behind herself, she rested against the opposite wall, “Any wounds you need tended to? Physical, not mental.” Blaze really didn’t know why she was still there, maybe she felt bad for the guy. His sister was just killed in front of him. She shrugged to herself and started eating her own plate of food, glancing at him, “You have a name?”
He shakes his head, sighing softly. "Morals, or pity is the question." He mutters in reply as he hears the door open and close. He kept his eyes on the locked, his thumb tracing the intricate designs on the locket. He sighed softly as he looked down at his body. "No. No wounds." he replies shortly. He mutters before curling up more into himself. Why was this woman showing any interest in him? He sighed and clenched the locket in his hands. He didn't touch the food. "Keith." Was all he replied.
She glanced at him, still eating her small portions, “Morals. There’s no pity, you’re still a prisoner until you prove yourself worth to help out.” Her plate cleared off quickly and she stood up from against the wall, “Well, I’d better get going, I have training to do and small kids to watch. And Keith? Is suggest you’d eat. The commander is coming in today to interview you, and even though he doesn’t use torture, if he sees you haven’t eaten he will not be happy.” Glancing at him one more time, she headed out without another word. It was true she did have training, and then unless she was on her mission she was in charge of watching some of the younger kids in the town to make sure they didn’t hurt themselves or do anything too dangerous.
He sighed and shook his head. There is no such thing as morals in a heartless world. He thinks sourly to himself. He waits until she's gone before looking towards the food and sighed as he walked towards the food, picking it up and nibbling on it. He ate little, maybe less then half the plate before settling back onto his bed, curling up again. His hand curled around the locket as he shut his eyes, a small tear falling down his cheek. He didn't want to eat, and he had little information. So it was likely they'd just kill him anyways. He would gladly accept his fate. He was being eaten away by the fact that he had lost his sister. A monster was clawing at his stomach, eating as his emotions until there would be nothing but an empty hull of what he used to be.
With taking care of the prisoner done, she jogged around to find Jax, eventually finding him back in the mess hall semi flirting with two female soldiers. They were clearly amused by him and only one of them seemed to maybe fancy him so she tapped him on the shoulder, making him jump and all three of the girls laugh. “Want to get to training now Mr. Flirty? Leave these poor girls alone and practice out on the shooting range?”
“Sparky,” His face held a tint of blush and he rubbed his neck with an awkward smile, “I’ll meet you out there, how about that? Give me a few more minutes.” She rolled her eyes but walked away with a tiny smile as he went back to flirting.
Like she said, a little while later a wiry man came in. He had slightly graying hair spotting his deep black curly hair and his green eyes flicked around. It was clear he had power, with the almost sauntering walk he had as he made his way to Keith’s cell. “Soldier,” He said, grabbing the key and looking in to the cell, “Mind if I come in? Just have a few questions, and I won’t torture you if you’re going to ask that.”
Keith was still curled up and he was running his thumb along the locket. He scarcely looked up when the man entered his cell. He didn't reply to Soldier. He just stayed there, sighing softly. He didn't want to deal with this right now. He just didn't want to deal with questions. He looks at the man and sighed before looking down.
The man shrugged and entered anyway, closing the door but not locking it behind him. He walked to the edge of the bed and sat down, looking around the cell, “We need to get a chair in here, and a table. Having to set your food on the ground isn’t fun.” Looking at Keith, the man stuck out a hand, “I’m commander Luke Jackson, and you’re free to call me anything you like, though I prefer just Luke.”
Soon Blaze and Jax we’re out at the shooting range, each of them testing out their shots with different weapons. From hand guns to the big sniper rifles, though they were only allowed a few bullets for each gun. “You need to work on your aim Jaxy,” She said with a laugh after he came back with his paper target, most of the bullets scattered around just inside the largest circle.
“Yours isn’t much better Sparky,” He pointed out, motioning to her paper. Her shots weren’t much better, but for the majority they were quite close to the center or center circles, “So I wouldn’t be talking. I’m just having an off day today.”
Keith looked over at the man and slowly sat up, tucking the locket into his breast pocket once again before gazing at the man, "I don't have what you need." he says slowly, his voice hoarse. "I don't know what you want. But I sure as hell don't have it." Keith brushed some hair from his face. His eyes were red and puffy from crying, but he made no moves towards the other, nor towards the door.
“You don’t know any of the other elites that worked alongside you?” He asked with a raised eyebrow, though he didn’t seem to mad or even surprised at the fact, “Or the layouts of any of the buildings besides the one we raided?” Luke didn’t seemed too concerned with Keith heading towards the door, seeming calm and cool headed as he watched the young soldier, “You don’t know your name? That would be a problem.”
"The one person that was an elite that I fought with is dead. You men killed her." He says flatly. "And I was designated to that area and that area only." He stands against the wall, looking towards the window. He wasn't going to leave, knowing full well that he would be attacked or killed if he tried to run. "And I already have a feeling you already know my name is Keith." He sits back down and looks away form the other, seeming very unamused to why he was being questioned.
He shrugged, “I do know your name, that’s true, word travels fast around these parts. And my men wouldn’t kill anyone unless they posed a threat to their safety or the teams.” His arms crossed and he looked around the cell, “Well, what do you know? How to work the guns the crown uses? Their strategies? Elites have to know things like that.”
Blaze and Jax continued joking around as they left the range, wandering around the base like they normally did while she waited for her shift to start. They talked and it was clear they were like siblings with the way they joked and made fun of each other.
"I know how to use the guns. But I was only let into strategies the day before a battle." He replies shortly, as he gazed at the male. He didn't want to deal with this at the moment but he had no choice but to. His hand goes to the locket in his pocket and he holds onto it as he stares at Luke, a look of stone cold in his eyes.
A small smile crossed Luke’s face and he nodded, “Alright then, if you know the guns, then maybe I could get you out of this cell and into helping teach our soldiers about how to use the guns. We could always use some help in that department, none of our other reforms knew how to use most of the weapons.”
Keith stared at him. "There is no possible way you can convince me to fight with the men that killed my family." He says coldly. He sneers at the man. "You're asking me to throw away what I was raised with, join the rebels and teach them how to use guns when your men killed my little sister?" He growls looking away. He sits on the bed and shakes his head. "I'm not answering your questions…"
“Did I ask you to go out and fight the only world you knew?” He asked, crossing his arms as Keith went from cooperating to the exact opposite, “I asked you to help us learn about these weapons so our men don’t keep dying by the hundreds. I’m sorry about your sister, I really am, the shot wasn’t supposed to go off. Blaze and Jax told me what had happened.”
His eyes narrowed. "So that's what their names are…" He mutters lowly. He clutched the small locket to his chest and looked down. He kept the lump in the back of his throat down, refusing to show weakness. "The canons are the ones you want to worry about." He mutters. "High range and high impact." He mutters. "As for guns… they're like any gun."
Nodding, Luke seemed to relax when he decided to help again, “Is there any specific warnings you have when firing the guns?” He made a mental note to have Blaze talk to Keith again, seeing as she was learning about the weapons so she could take over the teaching of anything happened on the next raid scheduled. “Anything we should know about the guns that we might not already would be good, and maybe who in the Kong’s army uses what type of gun?”
