Cat nodded and handed her a rag. She got down to her knees and started cleaning the table.

Aurelie cleaned another table, humming lightly to herself. This was much more enjoyable than her lessons. “Do you like it here?” she asked, trying to make conversation.
Cat nodded. ” It's not bad. Pays well enough and I get my own room for now, ” she says. ”What about you?”
“It’s okay,” Aurelie replied. “I can’t complain about the room or the food, but some of the lessons are boring. God, I sound so stuffy, don’t I? I’m mostly grateful for all that I have.”
”no, it's fine. Lessons do seem really boring, ” she said continuing to wipe down the table.
Aurelie was making sure that hers was totally clean. She felt really nice being here with Grace. Not at all like how she felt with all of the boys that she hung around with regularly, per her father’s orders. “One of the best parts is getting to ride my horse, Starlight.” She pausing, thinking for a moment. “What do you do for fun, Grace?”
Cat hesitated for a second. ”I like to draw,” She said smiling softly. She finished her table and stood up.
“What kind of stuff do you draw?” Aurelie inquired, curious. She could definitely appreciate good artwork but was no artist herself
”Mainly flowers and trees. I like drawing people sometimes too, ” she said grabbing the feather duster. She telling the truth. Sometimes she takes walks in the forests and draws what she sees.
“That’s so neat,” Aurelie commented, finishing her table and standing up again. “Do you have a sketchbook or something?”
”yeah it's small but it works, ” She says smiling. ”I've never ridden a horse, ” She lied ”what's it like?”
“It’s freeing,” she admitted, her gaze getting dreamy. “Feeling the wind in your hair and the horse under you is an extraordinary experience. you should try it sometime.”

”That sounds amazing!” she says looking at Aurelie before turning around. Feather duster up ready to clean.
“Yeah, I could take you riding sometime if you want?” she offered, somewhat shyly with a small smile. She brushed a lock of strawberry blonde hair behind her ear.
Cat smirked before turning it into a full smile as she turned around. ”You could?” she asked eyes wide.
“Of course! If you want, I could definitely find a time for that,” she exclaimed, smiling. She was blushing a little, and she hoped the other girl couldn’t tell. She always got nervous around pretty girls.
”That sounds great!” she said. She noticed the other girls blush. interesting. She made herself blush slightly as she slowly walked closer to her.
Aurelie noticed her walk closer, and she felt a rush of excitement, but she forced herself not to make a big deal of it. There was no way this girl could possibly feel the same as she did. “Cool.” She glanced away as her cheeks continued to get pinker.
Once she was only a foot away from Aurelie she lifted her hand. Handing her the feather duster. ”you can use this if you want. I like dusting with a rag anyway, ” she says.
She nodded. “Okay,” she replied, taking it quickly and walking across the room to a place she could dust. She was a mess. She was used to being around boys, but girls were clearly another matter.
Cat walked to a window a few feet away from her. She started wiping down the window sill. Slowly getting closer to the princess.
The other girl getting closer to her made Aurelie get the stupid fluttery feeling again, so she deliberately moved farther from her with her cleaning. “I probably have to go soon, or my father will find out I’ve been skipping my lessons again.”
Cat nodded. ”What type of lessons do you have to take?” She asks still moving closer to Aurelie as she wiped down the window.
“All kinds,” she explained. “Math, science, English, French. But the lesson I’m skipping is by far the worst one—etiquette. The other ones fascinate me, but etiquette—“ She frowned. “Let’s just say you should be glad you don’t have to take that class.”
”At least you have your other classes to make up for it, ” She said. ”you're right though you should get back. Our future queen needs to learn manners.” she smirked.
Aurelie sighed. “Yeah, you’re right. See you around.” She walked out, turning back to smile at the other girl from the doorway.
Cat watched her leave. Smiling and waving when she stopped at the doorway.
Pretty soon Aurelie was out of sight down the hall, and she went back to her lessons reluctantly. She had passed most of the allotted time sneaking off, so she knew didn’t have long to go.
Cat mentally counted to 10 and then looked around the room. She took out her clothes and started looking at the small decorations on some of the tables. she picked up a teacup and put it into her dresses pocket. She couldn't find anything else she could take that would go unnoticed. she slipped off her gloves and tossed her cleaning supplies back into the bucket. She walked out of the room and down the hall.
