Davina shrugged, still fitting together pieces as she sorted through them, "I don't know. When I was in school I hated it, but now that I'm here I really miss it. School wasn't hard, just boring." She looked up at him, one leg propped up and the other laid out alongside the puzzle, "How about you?" She was sharing more information than she would normally share with anyone. It was something new and slightly shocked even herself.
"We'll go on an adventure, when we escape these prison walls!" (Closed)
"I liked it, it kept my brain running." He shrugged again, setting the piece down. "And it bothers me so much that I'm not in there, learning." He muttered, rubbing his face and rocking back and forth. "I've already counted the tiles in here, and should've saved the math for later… that's how bad it is…" He admitted, tapping his fingers in the floor.
"Read a book, if you can get your hands on one," She suggested, picking up a piece and turning it in her hand, "I'm sure they'll find some way to make you finish school in this place if you really want to." Davina looked over at him and set the piece down, smiling gently, "Please don't mention my name though, I don't really want to go back to school. Books would be great though."
"I have a feeling they'll lecture us both if I mention learning." He frowned, knowing he wasn't going to ask. For her sake at least. He was a strange kid, that enjoyed learning, and didn't want to drag her along. "But I'll ask for books, I don't think they can deny me something as simple as books." He shrugged lightly, not knowing if they would let him have them or not. He hoped they would.
“I mean, they denied me drawing supplies when I asked,” She said with a shrug. That was before she had met Sarah, the doctors had shot down her request without even leaving the room, saying everything from they would quicken the disease to she could use them to possibly harm herself. Davina glanced over at Apollo and smiled, shrugging again, “But there is a chance they will give us some books.”
"We'll keep our fingers crossed." He smiled brightly, wanting to pull the mask down so she could see. He really liked books. They were one of his many favorite passtimes. "Do you have a favorite one?" He asked, reaching down to the puzzle once more and adjusting the pieces so they fit in their places. "Because I personally love anything mystery."
She thought for a minute about his question, rolling a piece around in her hand and smiling when she came up with an answer. “I really like adventure books, fiction or nonfiction, just adventure in general.” Sitting over the puzzle was starting to make her back sore, something she was used to but not enjoying. She shifted around and soon was laying on her stomach, propping her head up on one hand and putting pieces in place with the other. “Mystery books sound fun, but I think I would rather listen to them be read than actually read them.”
Apollo smiled at her laying on the floor. "If I get one, I can read it to you." Offering, he stood up and walked over to his bed to lay on it. He was already bored, so these next weeks, or months were going to be agonizing. He starred up at the ceiling and sighed over dramatically. "But I don't have to. I'm just offering what I can." He mumbled now, and his eyes fell closed as he kicked his legs back and forth.
“I’ll take you up on that offer.” Davina agreed, nodding and pausing her puzzle building to mess with the mask on her face. “I hate this thing already, it’s gonna come off, disease spreading or no.” She said, pulling it off and tossing it on her bed dramatically while taking in a drawn out breath, “Much better, I can actually breath now.” She smiled to herself and turned back to her task after the dramatics though, going back to work quietly.
"They'll probably kill you." He rolled chuckled jokingly. "But I mean, this might kill us first. So why not risk it." He shrugged, pulling his own face mask off and tossing it aside. "Look at that!" He laughed, sucking in a deep breath. "I can breath again. Isn't that funny?"
It really wasn't, but that was besides the point. Getting to feel the 'fresh' air on the lower half of his face. "Man, I missed being able to breath properly."
"At this point it's just a race as to what is more detwrmined to kill us," She joked lightly, taking in another deep breath and nodding in agreement, "It's amazing to finally breath properly, and especially this crisp hospital air." Davian smiled and looked over at Apollo, happy that she could see him smile if he did. Just getting rid of that mask made it feel a little less restricted and hospital like in the room.
Apollo looked to her, chuckling. "Yes, the smell of Lysol and bleach is rather pleasing." Honestly, it actually was at this moment. The fact he could smell something besides his own breath and-or cotton was a miracle in itself. "But I mean, at least we can smell it, am I right?" Apollo shrugged before falling back onto the firm and thin sheets.
“That true, for once the smell of the hospital and chemicals isn’t a terrible thing. That’s also something I wouldn’t ever thing I would find myself saying.” She said, chuckling lightly before going silent and working away at her puzzle. The only noise from her was the sound of the pieces moving around or getting placed down, and for a rare moment she forgot she was in the hospital and could almost imagine she was back in her room doing puzzles.
Apollo was starring the roof, immersing in the silence. It felt like things had finally began to slow down, and only now realized how bad his legs ached. "Man, it's been so busy these past few days… I'm so tired…" He groaned, relaxing in the bed. "I might just go to sleep if you're OK by yourself." He mumbled, rolling over in the bed.
Davina looked up when he started taking, putting a piece in place and nodding, “Yeah, I’ll be fine, get some rest. I’ll wake you up if the doctor comes or they bring us food.” She understood being tired, mostly because of how frequently she was tired. Insomnia and nightmares made it terribly hard for her to sleep though and so it was just something she had to deal with.
With a nod, he picked up the dreaded mask and looped the straps over his ears with a sigh. "Goodbye fresh air." He mumbled, curling up under the sheets. "Night Davina." He called before crawling under the sheets and shutting his eyes. The sounds of the shuffling pieces on the floor were soothing, so he slipped off into a sleep a little faster than expected.
"Night Apollo." She called back, having no problem keeping quiet so he could nap. Doing puzzles was calming and the pieces fell into place one after one, revealing the picture. Eventually though, Davina had to take a break, though she just laid her head on her arms and looked at the puzzle. She had almost finished it though, and there was only one blank space that had yet to be filled.
(Do we want to time skip until later?)
(Sure)
Apollo woke up, feeling odd. The place he was in, didn't seem familiar. It was too cold, and hostile to be his room. And things began to click at the thought of his room. 'I'm sick, and I'm at a hospital…' He told himself, sitting up. He looked around blinking. 'I have a roommate now,and she's… I'm too tired to describe her.' His thoughts groaned, as he sat up.
Davina had fallen asleep right where she was on the floor, though it was clear she was in a light sleep. A puzzle piece was held gently in her hand and it looked as if she had just decided to take a short nap. That was the one thing she despised about this sickness more than anything else, it exhausted her so much quicker than she wanted it to.
Apollo gave a soft smile to the girl, sliding off the bed. "I bet that's uncomfortable." He clicked his tongue, bending down and taking the piece from her hand. Placing it in the right spot, he leaned down in attempt to pick her up. But being rather weak, this was difficult. So with much struggle he got her, and carried her over to her bed. Once tucked in, he did something he wouldn't think of him to do. He pulled down his mask, and pecked her forehead out of the sheer fogginess he was still in. Turning on his heel, he brought himself over to her stack of puzzles, pulling a new one out.
Even though it was a light nap, she didn't wake as he moved her to her bed, only rolling onto her side into her normal sleeping position after he kissed her forehead. She didn't stirr for several more minutes, actually getting some good rest before starting to toss and turn. It wasn't a nightmare per say, but it was equally as annoying and soon she was awake, sighing and rubbing her eyes but not getting up. "How long was I asleep?" She mumbled, glancing over at Apollo sleepily.
Apollo shrugged, shuffling the pieces around. "Couple minutes after I woke up at least. I haven't been awake long, and I have no clue when you slipped off." He told her, stuck in his own thoughts. He was still tired, not really knowing what he himself was talking about. Ignoring the clock, he just guessed it was around 5 pm. Not really knowing for sure.
"Ok, It's probably good that I got some sleep." She mumbled more to herself than him, burying back into her thin sheets and shivering slightly, "How skimpy are they on blankets? I'm going to freeze to death if I fall asleep tonight." Davina didn't say anything about him messing with her puzzles, not caring at all if he was building one.
"Really? You get cold?" He asked, a little surprised at hearing that. He didn't know why, but it did. So an idea came to him, and he stood up walking to his bed. "You know, you could always have my blanket." He shrugged, pulling it off and tossing it to her before turning back and sitting on the floor. He sat criss-cross and still fiddled with the puzzle. "If you don't want it, just toss it on my bed."
"I'm used to having like seven blankets on me when I sleep." She admitted, smiling softly and laying his blanket over herself as well, "Thank you, I'll give it back whenever you want to sleep again." Davina laid her head back on her pillow and let out a soft sigh, wishing she could see Sarah again and wondering when they would get food.
"Good gracious, no wonder you're cold. Go ahead and keep it." He told her, looking upwards. "You need it more than I do." He insisted pushing the pieces to a specific pile as he built it up. "I don't want you to argue with me." And he meant it, he never liked sleeping with blankets anyways, they made him feel hot and stuffy.
She shook her head, looking over at him and about to protest against her keeping it until he told her not to argue. "You can take it whenever you want it back." She said, seeming much warmer and comfier under the added blanket. Sleeping without blankets was something she hated, the more blankets the better in her opinion. They were cozy and warm, made great forts and also were extremely comfortable to be wrapped in anytime.
Apollo smiled softly, brushing his curls back from his face. "I think I'll be OK, no need to worry about me." He assured her, taking a break from the puzzle on the floor. He stood and walked over to her bed, sitting on the edge. "So what do you like to do?" He asked with a smile, crossing his legs again.
