"how'd you know?" He asked, dropping his smile and regarding her with a steely gaze
Would you rule with me?
"Seriously?" Her smile dropped from her face and she turned to walk sideways to face him.
He glared at her, a smile spreading across his face "no, I just like doing research. It interests me. Plus it was for Farensics." He nudged her shoulder "relax, I was joking."
"Oh. That's good, though. And it makes sense." She was quiet for a moment, thinking it over.
"wow, you actually though I was a sadistic serial killer, didn't you?" He laughed and ran a hand through his hair "I do fit the part, but no, sadly I'm not."
"That's not sadly. I just wasn't sure what to expect." She lightened up a little, shaking her head at the ground.
"sonyoyndid think I was a serial killer." He nodded thoughtfully "good that was the point." He grinned teasingly
She pushed him playfully, taking a few strides away from him. "You're mean." She said, a smile creeping onto her face.
"all in good fun, I assure you." He bowed mockingly, causing his hood to flip over his head and shadow his eyes
She shook her head, continuing her walk towards the campus. "What other dangerous hobbies do you have?"
"I like to write, mostly about characters and how I perceive the book. Nothing as dangerous as poison testing- I mean 'researching'" He laughed "what about you? you seem to have a vast knowledge of weaponry. What do you 'research' in your free time?"
Kenzie ducked her head, trying to figure out how to explain it. "My family is big in historical reenactments, and historical weaponry and such. We have a small armory in our basement, I was just never allowed to go down there without supervision. But my brothers talked about it a lot."
"that's amazing!" he exclaimed "Do you know how to use them? or are they just for show?" he asked, intrigued to know more about the girl next to him as well as her family
Kenzie looked back at him, mentally listing each item. "I've never had to use them, but I've seen them be used before and I was taught how to use a few of them. Only on targets taped onto dead trees and stumps, though. None of them were for show, but we certainly weren't allowed to play with them either."
He grinned and nodded "there's no fun in having one if you're not allowed to use it." He shrugged and glanced up "Guess I'll see you after class?"
Kenzie startled for a second before nodding agreement. "Sure. Good luck!"
"same to you!" He called over his shoulder as he headed to his classes in the next building
She left the path and made her way back into the dusty air of the studio, grabbing a smock and going to her place at a table. She found her charcoal drawing, pulling out the pencils and smudging things and bent to her assignment.
Kieth sat in his normal chair near the front and pulled out the book he and his class were studying at the moment. He sighed and started to read, plugging in headphones to drown out the loud cheering from outside or the thoughts in his head
Kenzie sank into her artwork, sketching in the soft light from the dozens of windows. The classroom was quiet, a mutual respect of the students. She put one earbud in and started to listen to her music, the sounds inspiring her drawing. It shaped out until it was the silhouette of a man sitting on a bench with a guitar.
Keith co.pletly lost himself in the book, all emotions and feeling focused into creating the characters and scenes as they played out in his head. It was something he had always loved about books, how they could transport you to a new one without you having to move or pay.
Kenzie shook her head at the drawing. This was what happened when she fell into her other world-she drew things she didn't know she knew how to draw. She glanced around, seeing the time was nearly up. She quickly packed up her pencils and drawing and brushed her charcoal shavings and dust into a tin. With a quick smile to her art teacher she was out the door.
he felt a light tap on his shoulder and keith jumped, looking up as his teacher was standing over him "having fun?" he asked, glancing at the book. "Yeah, a lot actually, see you next class!" He said, packing his things and leaving the class
Kenzie walked down the hall slowly, enjoying the quiet before the rest of the classes got out. She was unaware of it, but the charcoal from her drawing had rubbed across her arms and cheek. She was heading to a bathroom to wash her hands, but she hadn't realized the extent of the mess she'd made.
Keith sprinted out of the building, hoping to find kenzie. h eglanced around, trying his best to look inconspicuous. When he didn't find her he sighed and headed to the music hall to play his guitar again.
Kenzie paused before the end of the building and listened for a moment. There was the guitar again, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to intrude. So she made her way to the outside of the music building and sat down. She pulled out her sketchpad again and started drawing, listening to his music.
Keith started to sing along "roses blood, golden ambrosia, how to our make me shiver….let me be yours my love, for I only want you."
Kenzie shivered at the words, looking up suddenly. She glanced at the door and suddenly felt bad for listening. She stuffed her sketchpad in her bag once again and tiptoed away to the sidewalk.
Keith began a guitar solo to go with the words but messed up and was forced to start over. He sighed and decided that was enough guitar playing for one day. He packed his things and pulled his hood over his head "till tomorrow."
Kenzie walked slowly down the hall towards the dorms, lost in her thoughts. She leaned halfheartedly against the wall occasionally, enjoying the shadowy ness of the hall.
