Keith walked off to his dorm across campus, scanning the area for Kenzie but still not finding her
Would you rule with me?
Kenzie, coming out of her hall and out onto the campus, saw a familiar figure and waved slightly, then pulled her hand down. It might not be him, and maybe he doesn't want to see you.
Keith glanced up to see someone waving, He glanced around to make sure the figure wasn't waving to someone else and waved back
Kenzie grinned despite herself when he waved back, and walked a little faster to catch up with him.
He saw that the figure was walking towards him and he waited, seeing that it was Kenzie. "hey, I was looking for you, were'd you go?"
"I got out of art class early. I was actually by the music hall and heard you playing, but I decided to go home before you did, I guess." She brushed her hair back, unaware she was smearing charcoal dust across her face.
He nodded "ah ok," he laughed and pointed to his chin and cheek, indicating that she had a smidge of black on her face
Kenzie blinked and looked down at her hand, laughing when she saw the charcoal. "Messy art class." She explained, wiping as much of it off as she could onto her jeans.
He laughed "I bet, but that's how you can tell the person's a good artist. By how messy they get."
"Hardly. I just touch my face a lot." She laughed with him, starting to walk again towards the dorms with slow, bouncing steps.
"really? Tell me when have you ever seen a clean, famous, artist. Then I'll change my statement." He said, shoving his hands into his jacket
"I would, but I haven't seen a lot of famous artists in my life." She walked backwards to face him, but her eyes didn't quite meet his.
"further points my point then." He said with a smirk, glancing at her and trying to meet her eyes
"Alright, fine." She finally met his eyes with the slightest hint of a blush.
He fought the urge to brush his hand against her cheek "I'm fairly certain we've passed your dorm." He said, gesturing to the town
Kenzie bounced to her tip toes to look over his shoulder. "Oh. Yup, that's my dorm." She bounced down and gave him an awkward smile.
He smiled down at her, thinking it adorable that she bounced around. "Want me to walk you back?"
"Sure!" She said after a slight moment's hesitation. She stayed in step with him, making up for her shorter strides with enthusiasm and energy.
"so, you do any sports?" Keith asked, not knowing what else to talk about as they walked to her dorm
"Not really, but I grew up on a farm, working around the animals. So I never really had time to get into sports and that sort of thing." She watched him out of the corner of her eye, studying him for a reaction.
He nodded and smiled "up at the days light, asleep by 1:00 in the morning." he laughed and ran a hand through his hair
"Hardly. I was in bed by 8;30 every night." She said primly, lifting her head to grin at him. "How about you? Did you grow up in a city or in the country?"
"I'm sadly a city boy, I grew up in the rough town of Chicago and ate the best pizza known to man since birth. the comotion and the street life keep you busy, so I guess you could say i grew up in the Suburban countryside." He smiled back at her and shrugged "acually quite fun."
She cocked her head at him with a smile. "Not a terrible way to grow up. Did you do sports?"
"Gods above no. My parents always tried getting me into them but I always hated sports." He glanced at her "you?"
"It depends what you count as a sport. I've wrestled goats, herded cows, and ridden horses. And taken cats to vets. I'd count all of those as somewhat extreme sports." She said, listing each one per finger.
"THe extreme of the extreme." he nodded in agreement "that's sounds like way more fun than living in the city."
"It was pretty great." She dipped her head to agree. "Just not a lot of people. I was homeschooled through middle the first half of high school, too, so I didn't get a lot of people time."
"At least you can get that experience now, here at college," he said, glancing up as her dorm building came into view too soon
"Exactly." She grinned at him and ran the last few steps up onto the small porch in front of the building. "See you tomorrow?"
