"Yeah, I guess not, but it's helpful when we're on the run and can't afford food."
"You DO like me!" "I don't think 'like' is the right word." "You tolerate me." "Maybe." one on one
"We can afford food. And we aren't on the run, for God's sake." She shook her head.
"Well, what are we, then?" Lin asked, sighing softly.
"Let's say. . .vacationing. On hiatus. Something less criminal at the very least."
Lin rolled his eyes a bit. "Well, technically we already went into a bar even though we're underage, so maybe we are on the run."
"They didn't know! We escaped with our lives and our secrets."
"I told the guy I was talking to that I was underage." Lin stuck his tongue out a bit. "Maybe he told."
"I doubt he told. He seemed nice enough."
"Yeah, he was nice. And I only drank water…" Lin flushed a bit and started fidgeting again. "But that's besides the point. It was still against the law, I think. I'm not super familiar with laws."
"I mean, obviously it was against the law." She hid a grin. "Maybe you should study up on that one."
"Yeah, yeah… I'm sure I haven't broken too many." Lin rolled his eyes a bit and looked away. "I'm a good boy."
"I don't believe that for a second," she said. "I bet you've broken a few laws. More than you think."
"Really?" Lin looked up at Orion, seeming genuinely nervous. "W-What did I do? Are they gonna come after me?"
"I'm kidding. I'm joking. Calm down. I mean you've probably J-walked."
"Jaywalked? What's that? Is it bad?" He asked nervously, fidgeting a bit with his hands.
"It's just going across the street diagonally instead of using the crosswalks. I've never heard of anyone getting arrested for that. I might arrest you for your fidgeting issue."
"Sorry, s-sorry, I just… don't wanna get in trouble…" Lin sighed shakily. "What are some other laws I should know about?"
"Not a whole lot else. Common sense can get you pretty far, I should think. I mean. . . I've only intentionally broken a law once."
"Really? Which one?" Lin asked curiously, still seeming uneasy, but a little more relaxed now.
"The same one you broke, genius. I'm not a lawless vagrant, although I appreciate the sentiment."
"Oh… I thought you meant like, other than that." Lin flushed a bit in embarrassment and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Pfft, no." She blinked. "We should break another law. I feel like it could be fun."
"Nooooo…" Lin whined. "Breaking laws is very much not fun. It's stressful."
"I meant something petty. Like shoplifting. Or trespassing."
"But that's bad!" Lin whined. "What if we got caught??"
"We go to court, I'd guess. I don't know. Look. I'm making a joke."
Lin sighed, fidgeting a bit more with his sleeves. "I-I don't wanna intentionally break any laws…"
"I won't make you break any laws, never fear."
"Thanks…" Lin forced himself to stop fidgeting, not wanting to annoy Orion. "What are we supposed to do now?"
"Nothing. I'm tired and I'm happy cuddling you." She looked at him. "If that's alright with you."
