"You DO like me!" "I don't think 'like' is the right word." "You tolerate me." "Maybe." one on one

"Oh… why would we want to do that? It doesn't sound very fun."

"I've never done it before. What we really should be doing is getting jobs."

"Yeah… we were talking about that earlier. I still don't really know what I'd be good at."

"You're good at everything," Orion said. "Really, any place hiring would be glad to take you I'm sure."

"I'm not good at everything. I'm pretty bad at breathing." Lin hummed thoughtfully, toying with a lock of his hair.

"Yes, thank you, Sherlock," Orion said sarcastically. "I don't think you'll be exploring abandoned warehouses if you get hired at Tesco."

"Yeah, yeah. How do you even go about getting a job?" Lin asked, leaning back against the seat.

"You've never applied for a job? All you do is fill out an application."

Lin shrugged a bit. "I've done odd jobs for money, but I've never had like… an official job."

"Really. I would have thought your parents would force you into one. You know, for the discipline."

"Well, to be fair, I was like twelve when I left. And I wasn't allowed to leave the house, so I couldn't have gone anywhere."

"Oh. Okay." Orion nodded. "Makes sense."

Lin nodded a bit. "I'm sure I did things at home that are comparable, but I didn't get paid."

"Like what? Give me some ideas so I can suggest a job."

"Um… I had to make all of my own food, did lots of fighting and training sort of things, handle animals sometimes… I dunno. What kind of things are helpful?"

"You could work at McDonalds. But that kinda sucks. Maybe an animal shelter?"

Lin shrugged a bit. "Maybe. I more had to capture and/or kill animals, though, so they might not like that."

Orion blinked. "Oh. Never mind. Fitness trainer?"

"Maybe. Do you think I'm qualified?" Lin asked, sighing softly. "I don't really know how to formally train people. And I've been told my training was inhumane."

Orion scrunched up her face. "Nevermind again. Um. McDonalds might be your best bet."

"Mm." Lin leaned back again, resting his hands behind his head. "Maybe. We can keep looking and see what we can find."

"I suppose. Oooh, what about an ice cream shop?!"

"Maybe. I'm not sure I've had ice cream before, but I know what it is." He shrugged a bit.

"Yes you did. We went to Dairy Queen, doofus."

"Ah, right. I forgot about that." He hummed softly to himself. "Don't ice cream places have fancier stuff?"

"Like what?"

"Like… I-I dunno… different flavors?" He asked awkwardly, his face flushing lightly.

"Lin, all ice cream places have different flavors."

"Oh… but I didn't get anything fancy at Dairy Queen."

"Doesn't mean it isn't there."
