Nik paid attention to everything, eyes flashing around, the strange mismatched colors flashing in the light. He shivered a little bit, cold, and burrowed into the loose, too-big clothing.
"You kidnaped me even though you're going to war?" (o/o-closed)
He would have taken Nik out to the gardens yet it had started to snow and he didn't want to freeze the guy to death. He took Nik back to the library, one of the warmest parts of the castle.
Nik stayed snuggled into the clothing, still cold. He had been taken from summer to winter, and goddamnit he didn't like it. He didn't like any of this, really.
He headed over to one of the large fireplaces, offering Nik a seat close to the flames to warm him up. They'd have to go out soon, though wanted to make sure Nik was… well, kind of okay, first.
Nik sat down in the seat, snuggling into it and wrapping his arms around himself, silent. He was still trying to come to terms with…this. With being…here. Not on Earth.
Cas sighed, sitting across from Nik, "I get it's a lot to take in, and you can have as much time as you want to process everything." He was trying to be patient, something he wasn't the best at.
Nik gave a sharp nod. "Yeah. It's a fucking lot to take in." He replied, gazing at the fire. The light reflected off of his strange, mismatched eyes. He sighed softly.
"Like I said, if you still hate it after a week I'll take you home, I'm a man of my word." Cas watched him. He knew the chances of hims staying were low, it was worth a shot.
Nik nodded again, still looking at the fire, frowning a little bit. "Alright." he almost said thank you, then bit back the words. Why should he fucking thank his kidnapper?
Cas nodded a little himself, sighing and looking down towards the ground, "Do you want anything to eat, or drink or..?"
Nik shook his head a little bit. "I'm uhm…not that hungry." he replied, still looking at the fire. The shock of it all was still slowly sinking in.
“Right well, can I get you anything? Anything to make you feel slightly kore comfortable?” Maybe he wanted a friend or a book or… Cas didn’t really know.
Nik shrugged again, running a hand through his curly hair. "I-I…I don't know." He whispered, shaking his head a little bit and trying to process this. Don't cry don't cry don't cry.
Cas bit his lip, looking to the fire, “May I… sit next to you?” He asked, trying to be as gentle as possible.
Nik glanced at him for a moment. He shrugged. "I guess." His voice was faint, soft, though still a little unfriendly and very much defensive.
Cas stood, careful still of boundaries as he moved and sat next to Nik, making sure there was still a decent amount of space between then, "If there's anything I can do to help you feel more comfortable then just let me know."
Nik shrugged his shoulders a little bit. "I don't think…" He shook his head. "I don't know." His voice was quiet. Subdued. He ran a hand through his hair, not looking at Cas.
"Nikolai, I can't help make your stay here more comfortable if you don't let me know what, exactly you want." Cas said, scooting just a little closer.
"I. Don't. Know." Nik repeated firmly, looking down at the fire. He shook his head a little, swallowing and still trying to process all of this.
Cas sighed, "Don't know what you want or don't know what to make of the whole situation?" He asked.
"…Both." he finally replied after a moment, linking his fingers together and looking at the floor now. "But why does it matter?"
"Because even though I'm a dick and I well, kidnapped you, I still want to get to know you, help you figure this all out with the time you'll have here." He said, no hint of lies in his voice.
"Yes, you are a dick." Nik agreed after a little bit. "And…" he shook his head, closing his eyes.
"And what?" He leaned forwards onto his knees, interested to hear what Nik cut himself off from saying.
He shook his head again. "Doesn't matter." he kept his eyes closed, running his hands through his hair and trying to control his breathing.
"No, it does matter. Everything you say matters." Cas said sternly. He wanted to know, genuinely interested.
"No." Nik replied simply, swallowing and taking deep, measured breaths.
"Yes. Tell me, Nik." There was a layer of softness in his voice that wasn't there before.
Nik's eyes flickered open at the softness, but he didn't look at Cas. He shook his head again, looking over at the fire. "I don't want to."
Cas wanted to press on the issue, but he didn’t, “Okay, then.” He settled on, sighing softly.
