Dawn, he is cute. Look at that. Callie told himself, tilting his head at Apollo. Even if he could speak, he wouldn't have known what to say. In fact, he'd learned that silence was often better than noise.
You Spoke To Me In A Silent World // O/O // As gay as can be // OPEN
Apollo was highly aware of the other’s eyes set on him. He rose his hand to nervously itch at his nose, squirming at the attention. He wasn’t really used to it. He wasn’t sure if the other’s fascination came from his blood or sometimes else.
Callie noticed him squirming, and felt a little sympathy. So he slid the notebook back over to himself and began to write on it again. You don't like people looking at you?
(?)
Apollo glanced down at the notebook and wrote back a small answer: Not really. I’m just not used to it.
((fixed it sorry))
Oh. Sorry, then. Callie replied quickly and politely, folding his metal hands on the table.
(Callie’s name ain’t Apollo dearest.)
Apollo looked back down at his own folded hands. He found it pretty awkward to just be sitting there. In silence. He found it quite crippling after a bit and picked up the pen to write: “Want something to eat?”
((Oh my god imsosorry I am actually blind, fixed it fr))
Callie smiled at the offer, glancing up at him. Sure. What do you have?
(Lmaoooooo that’s alright)
I have snacks and stuff in my bag? He didn’t have much. But you can come with me to the grocery store. I was gonna go after I stopped by here…
Yeah, I'll go with you, he wrote back, before standing and pulling his jacket tighter around him. He hadn't meant to slow Apollo down, and felt the tiniest twinge of necessary guilt before looking back to Apollo.
Apollo nodded and grabbed his wallet. He only had a twenty-dollar note, so he was going to have to stretch it stupid to feed them both. He pocketed it and shouldered on a light jacket, fitting his hands inside to hide the healing black wounds. He lead the way out first, sighing.
Callie made sure the door was closed shut behind him - another habit, seeing as he couldn't hear it close - and followed Apollo out of the building, shielding his eyes from the sun for a moment before remembering where he was again and putting down his hand.
Apollo glanced behind him and slowed down once they were outside so he was walking side-by-side with the other. He couldn't help but enjoy the silence between them. It wasn't awkward at all, in fact Apollo was extremely comfortable now that the subject had changed and he was outside in the sun. The rays of the star above warmed his head, making him tempted to run his fingers through his rather thin hair.
Callie walked next to him, biting his lip as he often did. It was nice, having someone to walk with - who was willing, too. He hadn't minded the fact he was deaf - at least, he hadn't showed it - and neither had he minded his hands.
Apollo spotted a little place in the distance and nudged Callie, pointing forward at it and gesturing for them to go faster. Maybe he should learn a little bit of sign language? Wait, why would I do that? There's no guarantee this guy will wanna stay with me.
Callie looked down at Apollo and then to where he was gesturing, nodding with a small smile to show he understood. He started walking a little faster, making sure Apollo was still by him.
Apollo returned the smile with one of his own and bobbed after Callie, trying his best to keep in step. He wasn't the fittest person anymore, but he managed to keep pace.
The pair soon made it to the store with the quickened pace, and Apollo couldn't help but feel nervous as he grabbed a grocery bin. His plan was to just grab some ramen and maybe some milk. But it was really up to Callie.
Callie itched to write, instead grabbing a package of ramen off the shelf and holding it for Apollo to he. He hadn’t had some in a while.
Apollo nodded and accepted it, setting it into his bin. He glanced at the price before tentatively taking a second package from the shelf. He grinned at Callie once he was able to move on.
Callie grinned back, pulling a ten dollar bill from his pocket and offering it to Apollo. His mother was always giving him extra money he didn’t really need or use.
Apollo shook his head politely. He shook his hands and smiled. He didn't need the other's money. He could handle them both, to make a good impression. He tugged on Callie's sleeve gently and pointed to the dairy aisle.
Callie shrugged, putting the money away. He looked first to where Apollo was pointing, them down at him curiously.
Apollo grinned and started walking, picking up a small gallon of milk. He turned to the other and gestured out to the store, suggesting for him to get whatever he wanted. Apollo had a bit more cash to spend.
Callie went to grab a bag of jolly ranchers, putting it in the cart and smiling at Apollo.
Apollo smiled back and grabbed himself a bag of Cheetos and setting them in. He wouldn't have much money for public transit, but that's okay. He started to walk for the front to pay for the stuff.
Callie followed him, looking around the store - the bright fluorescent lighting, the cases of fresh food, the seventeen isles of other canned and bottled goods. When he couldn't hear anything, he seemed to see and feel everything else even more.
Apollo checked them out in the self-checkout, only getting a few cents back after he checked out. He pocketed it with a tiny sigh and took the bags, turning to his companion with a small little smile. He nudged the other and started to walk out.
Callie looked back at him, nodding a little to himself and following with the same smile Apollo had. He wasn't sure how Apollo wanted to get back - it hadn't been a long walk, so maybe they'd just walk. The sun outside seemed to be brighter than ever, reflecting off of his metal hands brightly.
Apollo turned his head when Callie's metal hands glinted, now seeing them for the first time. It was strange, seeing such a thing, but hey, it was the city. Apollo had seen stranger. The small man started to walk rather quickly, eager to get back inside and eat.
Callie quickly walked after him, his mouth twitching upward in a small smile at how eager he was. He shoved his hands in his pockets, making sure his wrist and arms were still covered by the jacket, before setting on a path with Apollo to his apartment.
They made it back and Apollo was already in the kitchen, boiling some water. He handed the other his jolly ranchers, and he took out his own Cheetos and ate one. He hadn't had one since he started working out. It sucked.
