You're 100% right. Going low to high is a lot easier for me

i have to disagree as i can't get much lower than a high G on the base clef without sounding really weird

And, to be honest, as a bass, you gotta be able to go High to low and low to high. A lot of our songs, mainly the truly difficult ones, have the bases flip back and forth like that.

I try challenge myself so I sing different parts sometimes and let me tell you bass is definitely the hardest

The worst part is that we never get any credit for it, either

we're singing a song called 'Nightfall" by Roger Emerson and IT'S SO HARD BECAUSE THE PIANO PART IS SYNCOPATED SO IT'S NOT ON TIME WITH THE SINGING PART AND THE HIGH PARTS ARE ACAPELLA send help

I much prefer accapella to piano that clashes with the singing. We had that once where the rhythms were all so different we ended up out of time the first time we tried it.

you know when your choir teacher starts playing the song and you're like, 'yeah, okay, uh-huh, i got this,' and then they tell you to sight read the first five pages and you're like, 'well that's unfortunate but i can do that' and you open the music and stare at the time signature
because
it's in
6/8
and you wanna die

oooooffff

6/8 is just 3/4 with more beats! Come back to me after you've tried reading in 13/8. While you're at it, listen to Ganondorf's battle theme from Ocarina of Time. 23/16, baby!

oh hell yeah 23/16 my favorite time signature along with 9/8 7/8 and any damn sondheim song because those things have crap counting

@PuffPoff

oh I forgot about this chat
I have to audition for choir next year but all of the female parts of the song we have to sing are too high for me. I can sing the tenor part but that means that next year I'd be a girl in the men's choir.

@hollow-boned

(same)

that's okay, don't worry too much abt it. parts should be classified on how high they are, not what gender should sing them anyway

@PuffPoff

My voice dropped so much this year so now the lowest note I can sing is an E2
I'm very tempted to just be a tenor next year

@bubblegum

I HEARD CHIOR
I CAME FOR CHIOR

@hollow-boned

i have no idea what E2 is cuz i wasn't educated in music in the western system but honestly if it puts less of a strain on your voice then be a tenor dude

@hollow-boned

ok i googled it and FUCK THAT'S LOW I CAN'T GO THAT LOW

@hollow-boned

the lowest i can go is like, a little higher than that but it won't sound pretty

@bubblegum

I am a soprano
I sing highhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

@hollow-boned

@PuffPoff

https://playback.fm/vocal-range
this is the thing I used to find out what mine was

group

Well, for reference, C4 is middle C. The number part switches at C, so the B below middle C is B3, and the D above middle C is D4, if that makes sense at all.
My range is D3 to roughly C6. I sound a lot better in the lower range though.

Middle C to F3. I'm very limited, tbh

group

Oh, cool. I used the actual website PuffPoff just posted, and it also gives you a celebrity with a similar vocal range. I got Adele.

It's blocked on my chromebook, sadly

@PuffPoff

I got Roy Orbison

@bubblegum

I have no idea what all these letters or numbers are but I do know I can sing very. very. VERY. high.

@Yamatsu

I saw some of the famous singer ranges and HOLY SHIT. They were not kidding about Freddie Mercury's range! Also, WHAT THE FUCK, David Lee Roth!

@TeamMezzo group

I've got a 3-octave range on the nose, c3 to c6.
I sing comfy tenor/alto stuff

@hollow-boned

i'll do this sometime soon
