Background: when Damien was younger he had a good life until he was about seven. His father started to drink and get high almost every night and became violent. His mother ended up leaving a year later and the abuse turned to him and his older brother, Luke. They didn’t have anyone to turn to. When Damien was 15 Luke (17) his father tried to drown the both. His brother was killed and Damien left with a brain injury. The injury left Damien with a stutter and he has trouble speaking and remember words sometimes. He was bullied for it in school. He moved in with his Aunt and music was the lnly thing keeping him going. Because of his past experiences he became a closed off person and music as he only escape. He has many scars from his abuse and doesn’t like to swim at all as he doesn’t want people seeing the scars and he’ll have a panic attack from his past.

Astrid’s family is rich. Astrid is considered popular at school but utterly hates it. She goes out of her way to not sit with the populars and instead to socialise with people who have no friends or sit by themselves.
Astrid grew up with her parents all to herself. Which wasn’t hard, considering she is an only child. Astrid’s mother has made her name as a very famous actress (Emmerson Casey) and her father has made his way to the top of the government’s military. Her parents are often not home and Natalie stays over when this is the case.
What Astrid lacks in siblings, she makes up for in Natalie’s siblings. Natalie Scott is Astrid’s best friend, and has been since forever. Natalie has a large family: 8 children in total. Astrid is closest to the two oldest: Connor and Natalie. While Astrid’s main passion is music, she also does other sports. "Thanks for agreeing to come with me," Astrid said nervously as she and Damian neared the airport to pick her dad up. "Mum's in Australia filming a movie, Natalie couldn't come last minute and neither could Connor. You were the first person I thought of."

Damien waved a hand idly before slipping it into his pocket, “I-It’s fine, Astrid. What time does the uh… the um…” He bounced up and down a little while he tried to remember the word for ‘plane’

"Plane arrive?" Astrid asked, knowing about Damien's stutter. "It's arriving in about 20 minutes."

Damien nodded and scratched at his neck, still feeling embarrassed about his stutter, “Yes.. yes that’s the word. And O-Okay. That’s good to… to know.”

They drove in silence for the last ten minutes of the drive.

When they arrived, Damien pulled up into a car park and quickly hopped out, “Here we are.”

"Thanks Damien," Astrid said as she hopped out of the car.

“Anytime Astrid. If you ever need any uh… uh help then just um just…” Damien frowned at himself, ‘phone’ slipping from his mind.

Astrid grabbed his hand in assurance. "Don't worry. I will. Now let's go see my dad."

Damien blushed from embarrassment and nodded, “Uh yeah, yeah let’s go.”

The two musicians walked through the airport towards the gate that Astrid's dad was going to come through in 5 minutes.

Damien checked his watch, “Five minutes….” He muttered, pushing his glasses up his nose.

Astrid started freaking out a little. "I'm getting nervous Damien. It's been two years. What if he's changed? What if I've changed?"

“Astrid, it’s going… going to be okay. T-Trust me.” Damien said as best he could, giving her hand a small squeeze.

"Thanks, Damien." At that moment, the doors opened. Astrid stood and waited to see her dad.

Damien stifled a little knowing a military man like Astrid’s dad probably wouldn’t like a guy like himself.

Astrid saw her dad's familiar face. The red curls, brown eyes, stubbled freckled face was the same as she remembered. She ran up to him with tears in her eyes as she swung her arms around his neck.

Damien stayed back while Astrid went to see her father. He didn’t want to talk incase he stuttered and mad a fool of himself.

"Dad I missed you so much!" Astrid cried.
"I missed you too, my little redhead," Peter replied. He spotted Damien standing timidly. "Hello there. Are you Astrid's boyfriend?"
