Cameron glanced up, unsure of what she just said. “Pardon me?” He asked softly.

Lilah looked up at him sadly.

"I said, I hate this," she repeated herself, louder this time.

Cameron’s gaze flicked back down at his chips. A glint of fear sparkled in his dog-like eyes.
“What do you hate?”

"Fighting. I hate fighting. I hate the way it feels and what it makes me think," Lilah choked out, looking back down as tears pricked in her eyes.

Cameron chewed on his lip and dipped his head more. “I hate it too, Lilah,” He murmured back softly.

"Then can we not fight?" Lilah pleaded, looking up at him again with those tears shining in her eyes.

Cameron glanced up, met her gaze and nodded. “Okay, we won’t fight.” He wanted to hold her close, and wipe those tears out of her eyes. He wasn’t sure how he’s get away with that, though.

"Good," Lilah sighed, closing her eyes. "I think I'll take the rest of my food to go. I'm not really hungry anymore…"

“Okay. I can tell the waiter to get you a box.” He nudged the chips and salsa away with a sigh.

"Maybe we should just go home after this. I'm pretty tired," Lilah said softly without lifting her gaze.

Cameron nodded. “Okay. Sounds good.”

After the waiter came with a box for Lilah and all the food had been packed away, she sighed and stood. Waiting for Cameron, she stared down at the box in her hands and shifted her weight from one foot to the other.

Cameron packed away his card and wallet before rising, his hands still in his pockets. He started to walk to the front, where he gave well-wishes to the attendant.

Lilah silently followed him out of the restaurant and held her box close to herself, careful not to spill any of the food.

(They walked, didn’t they?)

(Frick my memory… One sec.
EDIT: Fixed it.)

(Oof. I have the same problem, no worries.)

Cameron walked silently, too. The only sound was of happy patrons leaving or excited people entering the resturant, and the gravel whining under their feet.

(I totally didn't even see this, I'm so sorry.)

Lilah sighed and glanced at Cameron out of the corner of her eye. Should she say something? If she did, what would she say?

(That’s alright.)

Cameron was glancing off into the underbrush next to the road. A bush of waving flowers caught his gaze. He paused, walked over, picked a particularly nice pink-and-white one, then walked over to Lilah.
“This flower looks nice.” He took a brave stab at being charming and adorable.

Lilah looked over and nodded, a small smile turning the corners of her lips up. "Yeah. It's pretty."

Cameron grinned a little. “Do you want it? I bet we could preserve it.”

(Guess who wants to murder Physics again~! I actually cried… Granted, I think I have good reason to be emotional… At least for a few days.)

"Sure," Lilah said softly, nodding once.

(Oh no! I’m sorry! What happened?)

Cameron grinned a little wider and tucked it behind her ear. “For now, I think it’d look good there.”

(I just hate my Physics curriculum with a burning passion.)

Lilah blushed and looked down, unable to help the smile that demanded to show on her lips.

"Thanks," she whispered.

(I’m v sorry. It has to suck.)

Cameron lowered his hands, smiling. “You’re welcome. Let’s get home.”

(It does. So much.
Hey, fun fact! I've had 8 cats in my lifetime…)

"Yeah, let's," Lilah said as she looked back up and held out a hand to him, the box of food in her other hand.

(Wow.
I’m about to have five total guinea pigs in my lifetime. We have one rn and we’re getting two more tomorrow!! I’m so excited!)

Cameron smiled and took her hand carefully. He had to grab and hold with his right hand, which was not his strong suite.

(My friend has had a lot of Guinea pigs… So many… Oh my word…)

Lilah smiled softly and leaned into Cameron's side as they walked. The silence this time was much more comfortable and so much less strained.
