"I heard that." Halo calls over his shoulder before walking into class.
A Strange New School (Closed)
"Not You" jessica yelled back
Halo shrugs and sits down, getting out his sketchbook and humming in thought before starting a new sketch since he was finished with his last one.
(eh )
"Holy jessus I hate those kids " she said and looked at Kelton.
¨Everyone does.¨ Kelton muttered.
Ash got her phone out during break Cant come to lunch today. she texted her friends, quickly putting her phone away before her friends could reply to her.
Halo sighs boredly and shakes his head, looking around in dismay.
Jessica gathered her supplies and left the class to go to her next one.
Can I go back to England? No… No I can't so I'm stuck here. Halo returns to his drawing.
Marlowe followed her. “Okay,” she replied, looking around just in case her mom was hiding behind a corner or something equally unlikely.
“Nothing,” Marlowe said quickly, realizing that Lila had noticed her sudden anxiety. “Let’s just make this trip quick.” She hoped desperately that they wouldn’t encounter her mom.
“I have a headache,” she added with a frown.
Idk lol I think it’d prolly be ok?//
Or we could have the nurse not be there and Marlowe’s mom is subbing for her?//
thats a good idea//
Then she realized that her mom was filling in for the nurse today. Oh no. “Hi mom,” Marlowe muttered. Ms.Kingsbury smiled at her daughter. “Do you really have a headache, Marlowe? Or are you trying to get out of class? You’re failing, you know,” her mom replied. Marlowe blushed. “I have a headache for real,” She ground out, staring at her mom with a strange look on her face.
Ms.Kingsbury found an Advil and gave it to her daughter. “Thanks mom,” Marlowe said, and turned to leave.
Marlowe looked back at Lila, her gaze steely. “Can we pretend that didn’t happen?” She asked. She wondered if Lila could see the pain behind her eyes.
“Thank you,” Marlowe sighed, obviously relieved. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, letting down her normal sharp attitude for a moment. “Why did you help me back there? I’m always such a jerk to you and yet you didn’t instantly put me in my place or something.”
Marlowe’s eyebrows raised. “My mom’s not an asshole,” she denied, denfensively, even though she knew Lila was right. She paused for a moment before continuing. “I’m the asshole.” She laughed bitterly. “I’m always the asshole, the idiot, the loser…” She cut herself off. “Oh God, I’m sorry. I’m acting dumb.” She shook her head. “Whatever. Let’s just go back to class, okay?” She was trying hard not to cry for real this time, and felt like a total idiot. How was she this fragile? The others would definitely tease her now.
