(Hello? Bumping this)
(I'm sorry idk slang even though I am in middle school so wtf is "bumping this")
language
(A bump is what folks use on this website to revive a dying thread, or otherwise keep a thread going. Lots of people will usually just say ‘bump’, but I typically say ‘hello’ or something else. Now, if it has meaning elsewhere in the world, then I have absolutely no clue)
(Oh ok thank you)
language
(Yup)
(Okay, I'll get a starter up for this!)
Valerie was wandering around the city junkyards, looking for spare bits of mithril and adamantium for a suit of armor she'd been working on. Gods above, this is harder than a lot of other things that I've done… she thinks, finding yet another little bit of the darksteel and putting it in her bag. Suddenly, she whirls having heard a sound. She brightens her light, asking "Who's there?"
Andry, on the other hand, was quite enjoying his physical life. Currently, he was in an illicit drone racing stadium, piloting his drone faster and more accurately than everyone else there, being a former piece of technology himself. And I still am. he thinks as he takes a particularly tight turn and the crowd braces for impact, barely managing to get along unscathed. The crowd roared its approval. By the time anyone else got to that turn, the race was already over. Andry had won for the 20th time. He'd been keeping count. He collected the money the people had bet on him and against him, storing it away immediately. No reason to leave money out for people to steal. As he was walking out of the stadium, he noticed something weird: a second set of footsteps could be heard behind him, and he turned, calling out "Who is following me?"

The goblin quickly ducked behind a piece of junk when Valerie brightened her light. He hated bright lights, and he was on a mission. Damn it, why did other scavengers always have to get in the way?
He unconsciously tugged at the flashy earring on his left ear, a gift from a strange halfling he had met a few months ago. He had made a deal to work for the halfling to keep the earring if he served as a scavenger for a year. However, what he was scavenging for was something very precious, a material that the goblin could only pronounce as ‘Ad-man-tim’. And this woman was loaded with it.
Damn it! That meant he had to get right up next to her, and he preferred to avoid others while scavenging.
Val senses the life of the creatures, and launches a flare in the air, catching sight of the goblin. Ah, its merely a goblin scavenger. She throws a bit of mithril at it, then walks away, continuing her search for adamantium. She starts humming, not a particular tune, just humming, as she searches for more of the precious metal.
Andry decides to go to a nearby junkyard in search of some more spare parts for a project of his. He finds a nice electromagnet that could be useful and stows it in a small-ish dimension that hovers nearby. Oh, a quiet night a stormy night a night for sailors and all… he starts thinking, then smiles. He continues on with his searching, very quickly picking through the junkyard. He runs into a warm body and pins it, startled. "AH-HA!" he shouts, turning on a flashlight to see a goblin beneath him. "What are you doing?"
language
The goblin grimaced at the flare, then noticed the thrown piece of metal. He snatched it, realizing it was mithril. Though it wasn’t what the halfling wanted, it could prove useful.
The goblin prepared to leave, but he is suddenly blinded by a flashlight. He yelped, coiling.
“I scavenge!”he squeaked at the question.
He then crawled underneath some of the junk to escape the bright light.
Andry sighs. "Damn, I thought I found something interesting." He walks away, continuing his search for parts. He runs into Val and grins. "Well hey! Long time, no see, Soluna."
Val whirls the grins back. "Nice to see you too, Trelland. I assume you saw the goblin?"
"Yeah. Ugly little buggers, aren't they?" Andry laughs, finding a huge chunk of the darksteel Val had bee looking for, lifting it and carrying it for her.
Val watches. "Damn! I had quite forgotten how much you could lift."
Andry smirks. "Yeah." He finds another large chunk of adamantium and lifts that as well. He continues picking up the adamantium for Val, then sends it all to her workshop. He then goes back and grabs the larger mithril chunks, sending them to her workshop as well. Val watches, amazed.
"You've gotten better." she says.
Andry simply smiles and goes in search of some parts he'd seen. He waves.
He's definitely gotten better since I last saw him… she thinks, going back to her shop.

The goblin watched the pair’s interactions from his crevice, his jaw gaping when he saw the large chunks of adamantium. He tried to follow where the robot thing went, but it moved too fast, so instead he followed Valerie.
He was careful to remain at a distance and be as quiet as possible. When Valerie returned to her workshop, the goblin noted down the location before scurrying back to the junkyard. He found some more small fragments of adamantium, and a few mithril pieces for himself, then returned to the assigned meeting place, a small and shady tavern called Bilge Rat Cove, where he would wait for his employer.
Etta watches Val, eyes focused on her scavenging. She was about to make the shot, when the goblin started drawing some attention. Etta snarled, putting away her gun and slinking a bit closer, ducking under scraps of metal. Along the way down, she grabbed a spare eye lying on a pile of scraps. This could be useful. she says to herself as she hides behind an abandoned hoverpod. Then, the boy appears. Etta curses as she watches her prey disappear slowly, and sighs. boss won’t be happy with this.
Val goes into the main entrance of the workshop, then descends, the secret entrance to the true shop concealed in the back by magic and technology. She grins, inhaling deeply the burnt sugar smell of magic and the smell of grease and metal. Home sweet home… She immediately gets back to work, molding the metals to her form perfectly, using her powers to shape it and make it a flowing, beautiful work of art. Finally, I'm done… she thinks, grinning and quickly donning the rest of the armour.
Andry eventually finds the rest of what he needs and heads back to his apartment, the sounds of machinery and electronics buzzing and whirring once more. The neighbours keep complaining, but he really didn't care. After all, the cops don't care. He finally finishes his project, holding it up. Not the best looking, but I can go to Val for that… In his hands, he is holding a railgun marksman rifle. The first of its kind.
Naomi woke up from recharging. As she got up her eyes glowed a bright blue. She looked around at the barren wasteland and started walking around looking for people. She was made to help people but she had trouble finding them a lot of the time.
(I might totally be misreading the vibe is it abbandoned wasteland vibe or future world that is like flying cars and such type or like a mix of both? Idk help me out here)
(Mix of both. It's Manhattan in New York, and the Empire State Building has been vaporized, the Statue of Liberty is in the ocean, and most of the original buildings in Manhattan are blasted. However, the people have been haphazardly rebuilding the city, so yeah.)
(Hell, most of America is blasted nuclear barrens, so Manhattan is actually one of the few safe places in what was formerly America.)
language
(Ooh, nice. Jack has never been to Earth, until now of course, lol)
“So, Bob, what’ll you have to drink? You can’t stay unless you drink,”the bartender asked.
The goblin looked up at the bartender.
“Bōb. Name is Bōb. And… whikkey,”the goblin said.
The bartender stared at him a long moment, then nodded and grabbed some whiskey for Bōb. He didn’t say anything else to the goblin.
Many minutes later, an old halfling sat down next to Bōb. The goblin looked at him expectantly.
“Offer, then pay.”
The goblin handed over the small pouch of adamantium. The halfling handed him an identical pouch, with his payment inside.
“He sends his regards. Keep it up,”the halfling said, then ordered a beer.
Bōb nodded and stashed the pouch. He sipped his whiskey, grimacing like he always did at the taste, then left the tavern.
(Oh ok thx)
Naomi looks around and sees some people working on rebuilding some of the buildings around. She looks around at the barren wasteland that once was New York City and doesn't think much of it. It has always been like this for her but sometimes she will look at the old record and pictures from before the bombings and smiles.
(Mm-hmmm!)
Andry blinks over to Val's workshop. The latter doesn't even bat an eye, as used to this as she was. "What's up, Andry?"
"Oh, nothing much. I just finished my boosted hand-held railgun, and I need a case for all the wiring and stuff." Andry grins, admiring Val's literally indestructable armour.
"Really? That's cool! I have some left over adamantium I could stain and use." Val laughs, noticing Andry's gaze.
"That would actually be the best thing to use, just in case anything blows up that shouldn't." Andry chuckles, handing it over to Val, who inspects it a moment before aiming it at a cahin over half a mile away and firing it. A single link vaporizes.
"Oh, I love this thing… do you mind if I make a copy of this for personal use?" Val asks, already gathering materials.
"Sure, actually!" Andry says, then blinks out.
Val, meanwhile, gets to work on fashioning a frame for the weapon, while also creating a copy of the railgun and streamlining the design. She grins. Oh, I'll be the baddest bitch around!

Bōb was heading home to take a nap, but eventually decided to snoop instead. He followed the mark on his map and found Val’s workshop again. He watched what he could see, but he couldn’t really see anything.
After several long minutes of indecision, he moved closer to the building, circling it. He then grunted, his cowardice finally overpowering his bravery, and ran away to hide a few buildings away. However, he still see the back of the workshop.
Val heard the alarms trip. Someone's outside… she thinks, stopping what she's doing and pulling on her armour once more, which she had taken off to avoid death by heat. She blinks up to the ruined surface, sensing the lifeforce of a nearby creature a few buildings away. She goes to check it out, finding… Bōb. "What the hell, dude?"
language
Bōb watched Valerie approach, recognizing the adamantium armor from what he had seen on his employer, and shrank deeper into his hiding place, but he was already caught. He shrieked, getting up and running away.
“I sorry! I sorry! I sorry!”he screamed at her as he ran.
Val sighs and snaps, freezing the poor goblin. "Tell me who you work for, goblin, and you shall have your adamantium."
language
Bōb yelped, whimpering. He didn’t answer though. He refused to answer. He would possibly be tortured, maybe even killed, but he wouldn’t betray his only friend. Nor did he want to lose his earring, the precious little thing that brought him hope of better days.
Val sighs. "Answer me, else you shall feel the pain of a mana burn." she says, summoning pure mana.
language
Bōb blinked, suddenly confused.
“Mana? What mana? Never heard mana before,”he asked.
He hesitated to say more.
"Mana? Magical power?" Val says, playing with the ball of mana she has. "Wait… you're trying to get me off topic. Who sent you?"
language
Bōb whimpered at her tone and shook his head rapidly.
“No! No! I didn’t know mana! It true! I didn’t know!”he pleaded.
He tried not to cry, but he still sniffled. Oh, he had been so stupid to try and spy on this powerful scavenger lady!
