Rylan turned around and faced Santiago.
"What's wrong." She asked softly.

Santiago avoided her gaze and glanced down, running a hand through his hair. “It’s my mother,” he said softly, “She’s grown I’ll woth worry ever since she heard about me rebelling. My father said that Alec visited them and he-“ he paused, trying to remember the word. “Threatened them.”

Rylan's soft amber eyes turned hard and dangerous at the sound of Alec's threat.
"Threatening them." She mumbled. A rush of memories flooded her mind. What had happened to her family could not happen to Santiago's. "I'm so sorry, Santiago."

Santiago shifted the weight on his heels and glanced towards the floor. “I’m sure they’ll be okay,” he murmured softly, just having traces of hope. Alec couldn’t hurt innocents like that, could he?

"I'm going to do something about this. They can't hurt your family too." Rylan ran a hand through her hair nervously, her eyes full of guilt. {You finally did it. . . his family is going to get hurt, all because of you} She thought. It pained her to see Santiago so sad.

"I can figure something out." Rylan replied, trying to give him some hope. She couldn't say the plan out loud. Santiago would never let her do it if he knew.
Harlow poked her head in. “Hey, are you guys hungry? Cause I made food.”

“He just wants us to show ourselves. He knows how important my family is to me. I feel like his threats are shallow, and hopefully I’m right about that,” Santiago said slowly, his grip on her hands tightening.
