"What's Crucio?" Might as well learn something if I'm confined to the hospital wing.

"A spell people use… well… you'll learn about it when you're older…" He mutters, shaking his head, "The point is, it's a really nasty spell."
"Okay. What is the curriculum for first years? I haven't really learned much of anything yet."
"The basic charms, spells, stuff like that. You won't get to the big stuff until you're in your fourth or fifth year." Xavier answers, humming in thought.
"So Protego and Stupefy are pretty normal? But Sectumsempra isn't."
"Yeah. Protego and stupify are fine." Xavier nods, smiling a little.
"What about Lumos?" His wand lit up and he jumped a bit, startled.
Xavier laughs, "Lumos is a simple light spell, so no worries." He chuckles softly. "Nox is how you put it out."
"Nox." The light went out. "Cool! So I can read at night!"
"Yep. That's what I usually do." Xavier smiles slightly, "It's a lot of help."
"And late night last minute studying…"
“Why don’t you just study a week ahead?”
"Because I don't always know what we're doing a week ahead. And I'm kind of a procrastinator."
Xavier chuckles, "If you ask the teachers, they're more than willing to help." he says, laughing a bit. He was ne of the few slytherins that actually cared about how he did at hogwarts.
"Most Slytherins aren't as mean as Tyler, are they?"
“I know a lot who aren’t.”
"No. But a fair few are definite pricks." Xavier snorts angrily.
"I mean, there are pricks in every house. The Gryffindors are way overconfident, some of the Ravenclaws always flaunt their test scores, Slytherin always gets a bad rep, and I've even met some mean Hufflepuffs! And Hufflepuff has the 'nice guy' stereotype."
Xavier laughs, "I know the feeling. We get a bad rep just because all the bad wizards seem to come from our house. An interesting fact though, is that the great Merlin himself came from our house." He says shaking his head.
"Yeah, and not all Gryffindors are good! I mean, He Who Must Not Be Named's right hand man, Peter Pettigrew, was a Gryffindor!"
"Yep." Xavier nods, sighing softly, "You sure know a lot about hogwarts, kid."
"I read up on it the week before I came. I didn't want to come completely uninformed!"
"That's smart. My family's pureblood, so I've known about hogwarts since I was a kid." Xavier mutters.
"Oh. I'm muggle born, so I was shocked when I found out that I'd be coming here. I mean, excited of course, just really surprised."
He nods, "That's expected."
"Should I get an owl at some point to send letters to my parents? Do mailmen not come here to deliver mail the normal way?"
"Owls. That's what we wizards use." He says, chuckling a bit.
"But why? Is it more efficient somehow?"
“This kid is adorable,” Skye said, talking about Nolan, she turned to Xavier, “can we keep him?”
Nolan's face flushed a bit, and he looked away. I should have done more research on this…
